Graffiti™ is a replacement for the built-in on-screen keyboard, also called an input method. With Graffiti, you no longer type but you draw Graffiti characters with your finger or a compatible stylus. Graffiti characters are mostly single-stroke drawings that closely match the usual alphabet, but are simplified to make entry faster and easier. For example, the letter "A" is entered with a stroke that looks like an upside-down "V", saving time that you do not need to cross the "A" in the middle. Same for the letter "T", which is entered almost like a "7".

There are text and numeric input areas, improving the recognition of your input. Strokes drawn in the text area will only be interpreted as letters; strokes in the numeric area will be interpreted as numbers .

If you were a user of a PalmOS based PDA in the past, this will all be very familiar to you as the input method used by those devices was a stylus drawing Graffiti strokes in an input area at the bottom of the display. But even if you were not a Graffiti user before, you should give it a try now if you find that the on-screen keyboard doesn't suit your input style.

Don't know the Graffiti alphabet? After installing and enabling Graffiti, just draw a stroke up from the Graffiti input area into the main display area and the help screen appears. Tap to switch between the six stroke help screens.

Compared to regular Grafitti, the surface area of the writing area is much larger. I dont know whether it would be practical on a small phone. You would need to get the regular Grafitti. Grafitti is one of the great input inventions of tech. It's up there with the keyboard. It might be a little slower than gboard, but youll catch the errors faster. You can look at the words as you type, so you can correct them right away. You can look someone in the eye while you are taking notes. Fantastic.

It works, but... It isn't great for tablet use... I'd love to be able to reduce to 1/3 height with the shorthand help to the side, and to make it a floating pallet. Would also be nice to have graffiti 1 & 2 selectable. Still, it's almost as good as it was on my old pda. It also needs a switch keyboard button. Adding thorn [Þþ], eth [Đđ], oek (oe ligature), and being able to turn the trace on/off would also be wonderful... most of this post entered with it.

It is a great app! Really fast multilingual text input (once you've learned it). However, I have not determined whether the following is an issue with the app or with my phone, but on my LG V60 Thinq Dual Screen (not this phone) the keyboard dissappears in the lock screen with no way to get it back or to switch to another keyboard. And there is no way to force the LG V60 to restart without entering a password into the non existent keyboard. Sounds like an issue primarily with the phone.

I have found this to be the best writing tool since my Palm days. Simple gestural recognition. I experience tremors that have always (with my big hands) made on screen keyboards a liability. This is a durable app, but it does show some of it's age. If some imagination could bring a bit more life & popularity, it could be a good thing. But "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!"

I have been using Graffiti instead of the phone's keyboard since my years with my HP PDA. It doesn't suffer from the sometimes faulty, sometimes humerous guessing what word being typed, and it does offer suqgested complete word with reasonable success. Alas, I recently looked for an app update, but it may be that its developers have moved on ;=(

DOES work with all the newest phones (Note 8, S9, Note 9, etc) though you still have to enable it, which most people forget about. Reasonably accurate. Has not been updated since Gingerbread, though it may not actually need it save for security updates. It used to be owned by the American company Access Solutions, which appears to be Chinese now.

It's good for what it's worth. The Graffiti function totally works. The application is a bit old, and the reference menu doesn't show up properly, but it does pretty much all of what it claims. I would suggest an update.

I loved this app and used it for10 years up until I upgraded from galaxy 3. Unfortunately with newer phones, we now have to unlock phone to use this, so not an option. Please someone give us back palm graffiti. It saved me so much time. It is from palm devices and is based on steno which I took in HS. I could take quick notes without looking.

slow, dk how japanese input is supposed to work (though im not proficient by any means so..). sometimes the recognition is inaccurate, like i have to tap a few times. im glad this exists though, i think its cool

Has been an amazing app and my exclusive choice of input for the last 5 years. Unfortunatey it is just beginning to get a bit flaky with the latest version of android. Gets stuck on producing full stops when you backspace. So needs a bit of an update for which I'd be happy to pay

I have used this ever since leaving Palm for Android. It is not perfect but very, very good and better than the other gesture keyboards I have tried. Please note that as of Android 9 (Pie) the upward swipe off the keyboard to display help doesn't work.

I like this text entry method because I learned it previously with Palm and preferred printing to a keyboard. Also it takes up less screen space than a keyboard. I wish the developers would keep it updated for newer operating systems.

Not recognized by Note 10. I loved graffiti on palm devices. I was so much more productive with that keyboard, so I was excited to see it was available in the play store. However, I told f but find a way to change the settings to allow its use. I wish someone would update the app.

I've just purchased a tiny chinese 3" cell phone. Graffiti Pro solves the input problem beautifully as ever. Thierry Escande once wrote an even better version for Palm that enabled the whole screen as writing pad. That was the best input method. Access could do it, too.

Ease of writing wihout looking to the screen. only need to know aproximate area to write on. hope can be configurable to adapt for screen size. This app is the main reason I don't use IOS platform. Use this for many years on all my android devices.

This WAS the best and fastest handwriting application ever and allowed me to write accurately without even looking at the phone for almost 20 years. DANGER!!!!! after the latest Samsung android update it is crashing/locking the phone constantly and causing data loss. I am sad to remove this app,... PLEASE FIX. Samsung A50, Android v9, UI v1.1, Kernal 4.14.62, Security patch Aug/1/2019

I use a note 9 with stylus & Graffiti is perfect for it. Recently I found that the help screen obscured. Other problems include word prediction jumping up & down, and absence of shortcut function

Indispensable. Truly indispensable. this is THE app that makes you glad you picked Android over Apple. Intuitive and powerful it leaves Google handwriting input in the dust - we're surprised it hasn't been acquired into AOSP because there's nothing else like it. Only downside is the nonexistent developer support. It's almost like they've forgotten all about it.

Just installed on the Galaxy Z flip 3 and it works exactly as I used it on each of my now-ancient Palm devices. Terrific! However, I must admit that the warning worried me – it says that the permissions will allow Graffiti to collect anything I write, including passwords, etc. That sounds ominous. Is it safe?

I used it in my first Palm and used to work very well in Android... however, it stopped rendering accents in the Google Pixel 4a(5g). Any clues? it is probably a simple bug.

My name is Vicki and I cannot write a V with this app. I always get a U. I had a Palm for 3 years. Please fix this problem for me. Specifically, a V should work like an upside down A. It should not need a large "tail" at the top. The point should be enough. A V is not a U.
