I input all my batches as 5 gallons, once I save and go back in they're all 4.99 and my grain amounts have went down too. Also app says to start timer when at 100f for the boil. Should be like 212f. As stated syncing across devices would be nice.
Terrible. 2 apps for the gf? Why not just one and have the option to not connect? Disjointed, average layout, poor recipe customisation & can't easily export to Connect. I can only guess it's built by someone who doesn't brew followed up by some pretty lazy testing. Come on, such good kit and these apps are so bad. If you need help give me a call, I can hook you up with some awesome developers.
Shame its not getting updated ever. Would like to see some of the features from the new app added such as recipe backup to online and the calculators.
Waste of time having to manually convert my recipes on entry. Multiple units of measurement need to be automated. Customization of grains, hops and additions and timing is clunky. Author should start from scratch.
New version still has issues. On Imperial units. Boil step is trying to use 100F instead of 212F.
When going through an active session waiting for boil, it says a temperature of 100f instead of 100c
The user interface is inconsistent and clumsy. It feels like this was developed by an iOS developer using some kind of (poor) cross platform toolkit. It does not work together with Grainfather Connect.
Only thing I wanted was the mash and spare water volume calculator. Don't waste your time on this get beersmith
Nice app, but needs a major redesign. It would be nice to get all calculators from the website inside an app. And an option to backup and restore data, or at least export.
Desperately needs cloud synch or a back up option. Lost all my sessions when my OnePlus collapsed. Needs ability to edit recipes. Unnecessarily clunky when entering recipes. Need to be able to add minutes or pause while brewing.
Lots of crashing and it wouldn't allow values to be changed. Frustrating experience. Not recommended.
Love my grainfather. Would love to see grainfather calculators included in the app to calc mash Sparg water etc. Good start guys (& girls)
Great start. Porting over calculators from the website would be great. Also the ability for users to rate recipes and have ones listed that were created by gf users.
Great help for brewing, Being able to sync across devices would be a huge advantage, this would also allow for a backup of your recipes & brews if your phone dies.
Calculators? Come on guys, your calculator webpage doesn't render well on mobile and is not in the app. Why? As for recipe generator, there are lots of better (and free) ones online. I wish this would sync with web based so recipe could be build on pc and accessed in app.
Why can't I save my own recipe? It lets me input details and save at different stages but won't allow me to save at the end. Why? What am I doing wrong? I've tried 4-5 times with no joy.
Very simple to use and keeps things easy! Although 'First Wort Hopping' section seems to be buggy! Recipe sync between devices would be nice as well!
Ehm...why is this not coupled to my recipes on brew.grainfather.com? I fail to see the point of this app. Looks user friendly, though.

Weights of grains change after recipe is saved. Also, no way to archive recipes. Grainfather is $850... U can do better!
It's just ok. Why can't I log in and see all the recipes I've saved to my account? Also just merge the connect and recipe/brew app together.
Really useful app to use with the grainfather. A few bugs to sort out - eg 4L of sparge water on a 4.3kg grain bill should be 16-17L, dry hop additions appearing in all fermentation stages instead of just the stage that they apply to, and it's not easy to navigate from timing notifications back to the app. Adding a recipe could be streamlined further - a lot of back and forward required to add all the grains and hop additions etc.
Seems a great app if used for brewing the bundled grainkid recipes as they are. The main problem is that it does not calculate, so to tweak the grainkid recipes or enter your own, you will need to do the math externally. I know you're working on it, so I'm looking forward. Next, equip the gf with Wi-Fi and make it controllable from and communicate with the app. This idea is evident in our connected present, you could be the first. Cheers!
Great brew system. Pity the website doesn't do the brew calculations. I got my son to make me an android phone app to do the calculations for me. GREAT APP.
I've noticed that some of the measurements that I entered in to the "my recipes" section, when running a session, are out of whack. Especially the hop additions. Also the boil temp comes up at 100*F instead of 212*F.
Fantastic app makes the brewing process smooth. One issues have is doing mynown recipes the app will not let me do decimals. Other than that.... Fantastic
This app is great for brew days. One thing I would love to see added though is the calculators that are on the Grainfather website. That would complete it
Quick and easy recipe creation, as well as helpful gf created recipes. A good app that really compliments a great all in one.
