Grand Academy II: Attack of the Sequel

Congratulations! We are delighted to welcome you back to the Grand Academy for Future Villains, the world's finest evil preparatory school. It's sophomore year, and everyone's back for a deliciously meta sequel.

"Grand Academy II: Attack of the Sequel" is a hilarious 215,000-word interactive novel and sequel to "Grand Academy for Future Villains," by Katherine Nehring, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

In the space between worlds, between stories, beyond time and space itself, the Grand Academy for Future Villains trains the bad guys that every epic saga needs. Behold our dormitories, each befitting their narrative genre: horror, fantasy, sci-fi, or thriller.

This year holds terrifying new challenges: a roommate, a pet, and the ominous Board of Visitors and Overlords, who have come to review the Academy's accreditation. Under the Board's steely gaze, you may be eligible to receive a destiny, which every true villain craves. They have also set each genre against one another in the house tournament. Will you lead your house to victory, betray your comrades, or perhaps both?

And of course your "friends" are back, too. Aurion, Kinistra, Phil. Why, even your maleficent mother, Maedryn the Terror of Three Worlds, is here. Or shall I call her…Professor Maedryn?

• Play as male, female, or nonbinary (or unhuman), gay, straight, bi, or ace.
• Play the game as a standalone, or import a saved character from Grand Academy for Future Villains.
• As Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and Thriller battle each other, use your genre-savvy to lead your genre to victory -- or to seize a destiny for yourself.
• Raise an illicit monstrous pet in your dorm room!
• Support your mother's plans for school domination -- or break free and steal her clone army.
• As a TA, help your favorite professor get tenure - or sabotage their chances, and as the RA of Sci-Fi, Horror, Thriller, or Fantasy, figure out what's best for your evil little charges.
• Discover the Academy's fatal weakness!
• Acquire the metafictional tools you'll need to win the game of genre against genre! What can you do with a plot-hole digger or a flashback gun?
• Defeat your nemesis! Or save them! Or smooch them!

And when things look bleak just remember: it's a trap! But you should know. You set it.

So far I've found missing text but was able to guess what the missing word is. And it felt like I was starting a new, different story with the sequel eventhough I've played the first one and wanted to continue from there. It does seem like the previous game's save wasn't carried over at some points in the story.

My problem with this kind of sequels of CoG, the kind that were not planned to be a series, that they are trying hard to be both sequel and standalone game. And sequel part suffers great deal because of it. I enjoyed some parts of the game, but this is, in my opinion, the weakest sequels so far. It nullify EVERY choice made in first game. Some characters interactions, romances, for example, are so barely existent, like they were added just to fill check list.

Gunpowder Gelatine. Dynamite with a laser beam. All of this will be flying your way in the sequel to the Grand Academy for future Villains. There were so many more paths in this game, and even alternate chapters, depending on the choices you make in the game. The humor is still as witty, sometimes being crude, sometimes being tasteful. Of all of these text based series I've played so far, this one is definitely in my top three. Give this game a shot, and I'm sure it won't disappoint you reader.

Though undeniably good as a standalone game, I feel conflicted towards rating it as a good sequel, namely because of how little preexisting alignments, choices, and relationships (save for Aurion) seem to contribute to the story except for the five main stats, though even that is more personal taste. Also, I played a Thriller character who underwent a transformation, but it seemed to be entirely wiped from the sequal's code.

It was good. More or less on par with the first. Had some issues though. Mostly just minor continuity problems, though they were understandable. I was disappointed to not see my hero love interest at all. Apparently she has to remain a villain to be in the story. Also, it'd have been nice if when *SPOILER* you take over the school you can make a few choices. Maybe like reinstating your teacher, freeing Mortwain, and re-establishing the Anti-hero school. Otherwise, I was very pleased.

Even if you do transfer over your data from the first game, barely any of it is used. I always love the prospect of romancing someone in these CYOA stories.. The first story had a very small plot with romance, but this one was even smaller and insignificant. I also never got the feeling that what i chose was a satisfying option a lot of the time. This story was just really disappointing.

I loved the first game, I became a monster villain. Now I'm apparently just a "normal" villain kid. My character went from being conflicted about his villainy to being a villain cause, well, no other option. This is such a great world, and this sequel just didn't meet the standard of play or narrative depth as the last one. I hope the third game takes it's time and addresses the choices made in the last game more directly.

Easily the worst 'choices' game there is, nothing is ever successful unless you select certain pre-determined options, and even then it's nothing special. The mere fact that there is a 'narrative weight' stat is ridiculous, purely a stick to the script story, very disappointing.

As a stand-alone game this one is fine. However as a sequel this game basically ignores every ending from the first game. If you sided with the heroes or broke the school into two factions that is written out right at the start.

Unlike the first game , this isn't interesting both plotwise as well as the choice wise.No reconciliation with the MCs mother ,no answers about what happened to your previous love interest .The story is plain and bland ,many choices doesn't even make any sense. The ending seemed too rushed. And none of the choices you made in the previous games matter at all. This was a huge letdown and no matter what playthrough you had done in the previous game. The beginning and ending is almost the same .

I love these Academy games. playing a softmore with a saved character is great because you literally just jump in with all your features and standings. its amazing. I hope a Jr and senior year will be released. I would buy them in a heartbeat.

I actually purchased this book. What was done right was the amount of detail that went into choices like what hatches out of an egg or which genre wins the tournament based upon your choices however the narrative has too much going on all at once. You have your classes, your genre and your being a leader, your being a Teacher's Assistant and the question about the schools accreditation and also Val's plot too. Hard to keep it all straight. Too much going on for my taste. Decent replayability.

So this is a fantastic sequel! The grand academy series its destined for success and I genuinely can't wait for Junior Year. Ultimately I would love to see this go well beyond his senior year and well into his professional care as a villain. Just love this series.

It seems it would've been better as a standalone, but I don't really mind. It was entertaining and as much as I was rooting for more romance with Val, it was barely there. That keeps me from giving it a 5 star. Overall the story was fun and insteresting and I'm hoping there will be more romance in the next one (if there even will be one). But go ahead and play this, you won't regret it.

Great game!! Although some of the relationship doesn't continue on to this sequel but the overall story is still keep its interesting and engaging element. Hope there would be a third volume to this amazing story !!

This is a sequel to rule them all. The sequel that haunts your nightmares, rules the streets, and is the chosen one to make all your past choices... matter. (The Lost Heir also does this)

I stayed up late cus i was excited to play this game and sadly it basically ignores pretty much everything that happened in the previous book. I was really looking forward to this one because the original was so awesome.

Problem please make it easier to know which stat goes with which decision and also please make a sequel. I hope that there will be more years (and sequels) just like Harry Potter

Absolutely love it

Too messy. Hard to understand what's happening. You don't know what happened to your previous love interest (except aurion) and don't know how your previous love interest will continue. Ending is too rushed. I'm still confused about val.

Lou. L. S. Aug 29, 2020

Love this game but I was quite disappointed when they didn't show what happened to you your love interest in the ending.

I bought the game on the choice app through the playstore. And it seems as though im not able to download the rest without payingon this app. Is that not an option?

Happy for the sequel wondering what happened with the monster transformation from the first game doesn't seem like it carried over ?
