A very viable Motorola gesture workaround! Flashlight chop, twist for camera, etc. I like you can make it what you want. The only downside is that it sometimes doesn't turn the flashlight on, despite giving feedback that it worked, or if the screen is off. works 80% of the time which is plenty for me SET APP TO TURN ON WITH PHONE.
Doesn't work when the screen is locked, fixing power management options and allowing the service to run at all times does not fix this issue. The purpose of the application is to provide useful gestures when you pull your phone out of your pocket, but there's not much point if none of the shake features work with the screen off, as I may as well just use a notification center button to activate the flashlight or camera once I've already turned on my screen.
I really like the concept for this app, I missed moto actions when I switched to a oneplus 6t so I was hopeful. This app seems like it only works 10-20% of the time. Meaning I have to "twist" the phone like 5 times for the camera to open. I have to "chop" or "shake" the phone like 10 times before the flashlight comes on. 0% success with the screen off. Developer: please make the sensitivity adjustable so that we can tailor to other phones, also it needs to work with the screen off.
The app gestures work which is great. However it seems to time out or something. I want it running all the time in the background so when I need it, it's available. Right now, after a few hours of not using it (sometimes even just 15 minutes) it doesn't come on. I've changed my battery saving settings to never turn it off, all the permissions are allowed, and I've tried using the screen proximity sensor setting in app. I still have to open the app to get the gesture to register.
It's very easy to understand. I like that the UI is straightforward. Very few ads. I'm just having problems with Shake gesture though. I have already adjusted the sensitivity but it's still too sensitive. I use Rotation Zas the "Shake" instead -- meaning, I shake my phone to use Rotation Z. If I use Rotation Z as it is, it doesn't work all the time. I hope you include the Pro features in the description too because I do not know what your Tasker includes.
This app is the perfect tool that has allowed me to bring over the built-in gestures that my previous phone included onto my new one. Lately, however, for some reason the gestures only trigger once I lock my phone. I must perform the gesture, and then lock, after which it will actually trigger. I don't know what's caused this, but it's on an Oppo Reno 2Z, Android 10 (Oppo's "ColorOS" 7.1).
Upgraded to an S10e from a Moto G5 Plus, missed awkwardly chopping my phone to turn on the flashlight. I can now be that awkward person again with this app! Also, a tip for anyone who says this isn't working- change sensitivity to high and make sure the screen is on before chopping (the screen-off feature doesn't work too well). Overall, it's a fantastic app that filled a double karate-chop sized hole in my heart.
Great idea! Used to have a Motorola that had gestures to pull up the camera and flashlight preinstalled. This pixel didn't have that. Only issue is that I put the sensitivity on low and it is still super difficult to use. It's like you have to get the gestures perfect, which means more effort than just opening the app.
Kinda works but much worse than Moto gestures. Potential areas of improvement: - Moto detects not just a single axis acceleration peak, but sequence of actions (like double chop). - Sensitivity of a single chop is not great. Putting to high on Samsung S10+ sometimes turns flashlight on a chop down motion and turns off on a chop-up. Effectively single chop makes flash well flash (turn on and off). - Rotation to bring up a camera similarly sometimes doesn't work. - Double rotation like would be preferred. - Camera app sometimes opens very slow (like more than 5 seconds) often missing the opportunity to make a good shot - Double rotation also flipped the back / front camera. Not sure if this is doable.
Brings the incredible usefulness of certain gestures (previously found only on Moto devices) to seemingly any Android phone! 😁 Once installed, service is started, and device is restarted, gestures work well even with the screen off. There is some improvement needed in the speed of recognizing gestures. (e.g. the shake gesture must be done much slower than on a Moto device) No less, it works quite well and I was happy to donate to the developer. Great app!
Hmm. 3 stars for its overall usability--I couldn't make twist for camera work universally and for some reason, vertical twist worked when setting it to Maps and horizonal didn't. Shake doesn't seem to work either. The chop action, however. Oh my word it just works. Shame the phone has to be awake, but phones unlock with fingerprint now so that's not an issue. Having to have a persistent notification's a little bothersome. Honestly, you could rebrand this as a torch shortcut and be done with it
Going from Moto to pixel, I missed the chop for flashlight, twist for camera. This app seemed to work for a while, but it was much less responsive, usually had to repeat the action multiple times to get it to work. Then yesterday while my phone had been sitting untouched for an hour, it decided to activate everything at once, constantly, until I restarted my phone. So, word of caution to those with Android 9, doesn't work well on pie yet.
This app is simply not reliable enough. While it can in theory replicate Moto movement gestures on non-Moto phones like my new Pixel 4a, it seems unable to open an app unless the Gravity Gestures app itself is also open. Without that app's UI open, the gesture will make the phone vibrate, but no app opens. Toggling the flashlight or Bluetooth will work fine if your movement is super precise, but you have to wait some time before you can toggle it again.
'Flip to shhh' doesn't work when this app is installed on Pixel 3a. At first I thought it might be a buggy system update but other people didn't face the same issue. Then I thought maybe it has to do with Gravity Gestures & i uninstalled the app. Guess what, flip to shhh worked without any problem. I hope the dev fixes this issue so that I can use the app without any issues.
Downloaded this to keep the flashlight and camera gestures after upgrading from a Moto Z² Force to a Pixel 4 XL. After setting up the double chop to toggle the flashlight and double twist to launch the camera app, I found that while both gestures trigger correctly, the camera app doesn't launch unless I'm currently in the Gravity Gestures app. In any other circumstance, the phone vibrates to indicate the gesture was detected, but the camera app never launches. The flashlight works fine, though.
Works for me but it requires swift motion and well defined axis. In other words, it requires a lot of effort even on high sensitivity settings. It's easier to toggle flashlight from the notification tray, believe me.
It works pretty well but sometimes the app randomly shuts off. Also, sometimes the z rotation double fires. I have it set to turn on the flashlight and sometimes it quickly turns on and off. It's a decent substitute to the moto features but it's not as smooth.
I've had a Moto phone for years. I finally bit the bullet and bought a Samsung. But missed the Moto Actions function particularly the "chop" action to turn on the torch. This app seems to work a treat, Works through lock screen, doesn't require any button pressing prior to using it. Excellent job, mind you I have only had it on the phone for about 1 hours
Really wanted this to work having switched from Motorola phone recently. Loved Moto Actions. Using a gesture to open an app (e.g., camera, Maps, etc.) doesn't work unless I'm already inside the Gravity Gestures (GG) app, so it isn't a shortcut at all. Moreover, can't get GG to work over lock screen. Sensitivity was good, and (when the GG app was open) assigned gestures did what they were supposed to reliably. Uninstalling; really wanted to just twist my phone to open camera over lock screen. 🤷
It's really nice, and allows me to properly recreate the Motorola chop light. Great app! Well done. One caveat, it doesn't work while the screen is off. Pressing the power button to enable the display, and then doing the chop motion works 100% for me.
Great app. Does what I need it to do. Only thing I wish the sensitivity was little better. Sometime takes a few trys to get it to work then is registers the action too many times in a row. Notice it the most when the phone is locked. Hardly happens at all otherwise. If this were fixed, five stars.
I had it in my previous phone (Alcatel 3x, Android 9) and worked perfectly, but now i installed it in my Galaxy A52 (Android 12, OneUI 4.0) and doesn't open apps with gestures and doesn't make vibration when i execute a gesture. It might need an actualization
If you want an app that *maybe* works *sometimes* then this is the app for you! It worked ok for a bit, sometimes recognising the gesture sometimes not, this morning it announced I didn't have an accelerometer in my phone so gestures were unavailable so I uninstalled it. Trash.
It works well for the flashlight. However it will not operate the camera. It vibrates after the motion, but no camera. 1 out of two is half good!
Many describe it not working reliably, it does for me. (I have a Samsung S9+, Android 10, I regularly use it with power saving turned on. I have shake to turn on flash, like many others.) However, I am unable to remap the voice assistant from Bixby to Google Assistant.
I gave u 3 stars for just 2 negative reason. May be i can correct if u provide me with the working solution. Firstly a great app on playstore for non motorola users. I highly recommend it. 1st reason it crashes often and sometimes confusion b/w the gestures happens. Picks up wrong gestures sometimes. 2nd reason- i am facing a tickling sound coming from my device whenever i shake to open a feature. I switched off phone vibration motor but still when i shake a very annoying tickle sound occurs. Please please provide me with solutions. Thanks you
So wanted this app to work after changing phones from a Motorola to a Samsung. Unfortunately, it works unpredictably for the torch and not at all for the camera (on a galaxy a52 5g). It also leaves a permanent notification active - I disabled the notification, but I'm unsure if turning it off also affects the gestures, as they really weren't working to begin with
Decent attempt to copy Moto's gestures, but 3rd party online goes so far. Sadly neither of mine worked when needed but it would work when I set up the app. Definitely a decent try though.
Started using this app now since the Moto actions have been pretty much stopped working right. So far so good, but using the chop feature for the flashlight, and twist for the camera has been not very cooperative at best. Hopefully and update will fix most of it. Maybe put out a beta mode for future features. Just a suggestion.
Really only useful for quick and easy access to system toggles such as the flashlight, Bluetooth, or phone orientation (which already has a gesture in my phone). I just use it for the quick flashlight because it won't open an app, shortcut, or website without the actual gravity gestures app being on my screen, which defeats the purpose of the quick gesture anyway, as the other options are either functioning phone toggles that I don't use often or are Pro version features. Needs more funcitons!
