Great Rides App
Once a trail is downloaded it can work offline:
- to track your position along the trail using your phone's GPS
- shows the key stops with web links, photos, and descriptions
- provides information about trails section with elevation profiles
- identifies bike services to help you along your great ride
- making a great riding guide with trail information all in one place
For any advertising in this app, 10% of any revenue received will be returned to the trails to improve maintenance, signage, and facilities.
All trail data has been carefully collected on-site then compiled with relevant trail side attractions and points of interest. Key sites can be found on the map screen and selected to provide more information, photos, and services.
To update the app just tap the cog symbol in the top right of the main screen and select 'check for updates'. Any updates will appear as a notification under each trail that has been downloaded.

The app used to be Ok then it got better. In the latest version the easiest option is to delete the app and go back to paper maps. Constantly having to redownload the content of routes has been a pain. Now you are limited to how much you can download but not informed of the limitation. Compounding this there is no obvious way to delete what has been dowloaded so it can be replaced by another route.
Great app, I'm so glad I stumbled across it! It saved me a few times when I lost poorly signposted trails. The offline map is amazing. Two suggestions: I wish you could zoom in further on the map. It's sometimes not enough to see the detail of where you are. I love the NZ map with all the trails, but I wish it had lines showing where the trail goes, rather than one pin for each trail. Especially for the longer trails, it would be nice to quickly see how they connect to others. Superb thanks!

Terrible app, very slow and cumbersome. Worst of all it downloaded thousands of stock images to my phone's storage which I now have to delete

wont load the twin coast trail. so can't test it. so useles to me at present
Had not been working properly for sometime.
Looks great so far. Wondering if you consider adding the Tour Aotearoa route as this truly the Greatest of all the Great rides of NZ.
So slow the app just needs to open when the user wants to use it. Lots of thought has gone into the content but zero into the user experience.
I'm in the UK and I'm planning a 3 month cycle tour of New Zealand starting November this year. This app is a dream for me. It's given me so many ideas. Helps me plan my trip tremendously. Thanks guys.
What a brilliant app, so much information covering the country and interesting places around N.Z. Great rides for sure. I would totally recommend this app for traveling round N Z on a bicycle/mountain bike/motorbike/walking/even a horse.

Useless rubbish that crashed when trying to coerce you into spamming your friends about it.
Easy to use. It needs more info about transport and tour operators that operate on each trail to be really helpful.

Fantastic App for the trail. Very helpful for all of the Cycle Trails in NZ. If you are thinking of riding any of NZ's Great Rides, then download the App for all the info you need. It is essential and in-depth whilst on the trail too. It will make your trip even better. Cheers
Brilliant. Can only speak for the Twin Coast Cycle Trail but this app is the ONLY accurate map available.

Great app. Just reopened, first time for a while. Took forever, which I see is the experience of some other users. So I uninstalled, then reinstalled. I read several recent reviews noting the s-l-o-w experience opening. But I also read a response from developer (kudos to you/them) saying if you hadn't been in the app for a while, the update process could take a while. Whether it should be faster (my phone is fast, plenty of memory&storage) is another issue. It is worth the wait. Cheers.
