GRO. Real-Time Gardening

GRO – Grow Everything More Successfully With the First Connected Yard System.
What does 21st century gardening look like? Like Gro. The app that learns what’s happening in your yard – weather, soil conditions, more. Then it inspires you with no-fail projects, timed perfectly. We call it the Connected Yard. You call it finally.

People have been farming and growing plants for about 12,000 years. But apparently we still haven’t learned squat. Gro aims to fix that.

By connecting your outdoor spaces to your phone, we make growing easier and better for everyone. From the clued-in to the clueless. It all happens when your yard goes from quiet and disconnected to talkative and connected.

Get to Know Your Yard.

Discover quick, high-success projects for what’s happening, right now, on your little spot on earth. For example:

• The right time for planting tomatoes without frostbite
• A unique version of New York’s famous Highline plantings, simplified for your backyard
• Get a buzz on with your own mixology garden
• A radically simplified approach to lawn care

We know that the biggest source of gardening fails is when people do the right thing at the wrong time – and Gro was created to stop that. What’s more, when you do things right, it means you need less water and can garden sustainably.

Gro identifies hundreds of different plants or shrubs that will thrive in your neck of the woods – how to plant them, care for them, and show your love. Plus you’ll get helpful reminders, because plants don’t forget, but human beings do.

We’ve also created new ways to get you started. We’ve composted the gardening encyclopedia and replaced it with digestible videos and quick-start instructions so anyone can get growing and succeed.

How does Gro work? Our Gro app automatically pulls in info about your local conditions – temperature, humidity, pest info, wind speeds, the forecast – from hundreds of government and private sources.

What’s more, many companies are joining our “Works with Gro” system. When you pair their devices to Gro, we can give you even more accurate information based on the moisture level of your soil and other info. You can even automate irrigation for projects in our app. Gro’s partners include Blossom, PlantLink and GreenIQ. More to come!

Your phone is the remote control of your life indoors. Now it’s the remote control of your life outdoors.

I love love love this app!! It lets you create your dream garden based on where you live, what's in season, and the materials you need. There are also a lot of informative articles (i.e how to garden if you're a beginner). However, I wish there was a 'future' garden plan setting, for out of season plants so that you can prepare in advance for each season.

Trying to use this app from an andriod phone but cant finish getting started because my zipcode will not register either. Maybe the developers could try having us put or zones in as a second option if the zipcodes do not work. I was very excited to use this app instead im disappointed and wasted my time.

App won't start on my notepad. Notepad is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. OS is up to date and runs all other apps quite well. When I click My Garden icon it displays splash page and doesn't do anything. It is very disappointing.

Not customizable only promotes their product rather than giving quality advice. app looks great, easy to navigate, but SO disappointing that it suggests projects w/o a larger scope of plants I could plant because THEY dont sell them. It'll suggest 3-4 potted plants but if it's not the look I want I'd like suggestions of plants I could use instead. Tell me about plants you DON'T sell and I'll be more likely to buy ones you DO. I feel frustrated that I'm not getting enough info. or customization

there are a variety of articles. that's great. I downloaded this app so I could PLAN AHEAD, however; "nothing is in season". well, what's the point if you cant plan ahead of time? I had this app for 5 minutes and decided it was a waste of memory on my phone. I only suggest this app if you want the articles.

I was looking for an app to help me plan when and how to plant my beds/ garden while tying in local weather and conditions. This app pretty much contains articles and commercials for Scott with generic information on zones you can learn from a seed packet. While it does have a watering tracker, I can do that with just about any other app. I would have given it two stars, but there is no way to edit your account once created.

All the other reviews are right. Still no update for allowing you to add or even view what they deem "out of season" plants, and a very limited list of plants to choose from. Uninstalled immediately.

Can't use app. Every time I try to enter my zip code it says that something went wrong and to try again. No mater how many times I try or go out of the app it doesn't work. I even uninstalled it and then installed it again and still no luck.

good for flowers or indoor houseplants. not good for vegetable gardening- I have a greenhouse but it won't allow me to add things I've planted outside of their season. Also, it doesn't know what a cantaloupe is, which seems... odd for a gardening app.

This app was completely broken for me. It asked my zip code, preferences, then looped back to do it again. Tried a few times, but always same.

After installing, tried to add all the flowers that are in our garden, but it can't find the majority of them, including Columbine which is a common flower and is our state flower. You need to update your flower database. Going to be deleting this app as it us useless.

The adds work just fine and keep popping up every few seconds, but the app itself won't open so i can't use it.

can't add plants that aren't in season yet...i have seedlings already and need a care schedule for them. otherwise great and helpful app!! please add carnivorous plants in the future

This app crashes every single time I try to search for a plant. I am growing "out of season" plants indoors, which apparently means that I cannot add them to my garden. This app was a waste of my time.

Onions, garlic, and radishes - for some reason- don't do well together; but they all do great with tomatoes and roses. Anyway, when someone tries to mix incompatibles, to tell us through the garden planner it might not work?

put in my zip choose a few of the categories and.... timeout constantly for about 10 mins can't do anything won't let me skip that part because... timeout.. the app is useless like this. Uninstalled it about 15 mins after i got it

Also can't get pass the ZIP code error. Seems like no one is listening to the users to repair this issue.

I tried to type in broccoli and scarlet carrots, aster, and the other plants i was hoping to grow but it says "not found" you need to include ALL plants and flowers. not just certain ones.

sus. m. May 27, 2019

used app 1st time. it couldn't find hellebore or related names of plant. went to pinterest and found plant immediately. So far I am not impressed with My Garden.

La. S. Jul 24, 2019

half the plants recommended don't grow in my zip code or my state. most options are annuals I want perennials. only 3 selections? totally useless. hire a landscape designer.

Pat. J. Mar 13, 2022

Can never get into app as it always re asks for zip code. Uninstalled it as I don't want to play anymore, will find another that actually works!

whi. w. Feb 26, 2019

no info on seed starting. cant plan summer garden until its "in season?" that's the entire point of planning. will probably see how it is in the summer. not impressed.

Kay. M. Jul 22, 2019

It's a good idea but not enough plant variety. Couldn't add the plants in my actual garden. Not impressed

Great app to make a list of gardening supplies you need and great motivation to plant new things.
