Permission Explanations:
* SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW: Allows the dimmer to dim the screen below the system settings even when it's not the active foreground app. This is a dangerous setting to allow, however it is required for the screen dimmer.
* WRITE_SETTINGS: Allows the dimmer to update the system brightness setting.
* RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Allows the dimmer to automatically start up whenever you restart your devices. You can control this setting in the preferences.

Since the update, it no longer dims - at all. GSam does not answer emails, and shows a certain amount of hostility towards customers. What was a wonderful and essential addition to Android, has become useless and annoying. How I wish I could get a refund! Do NOT buy this.
I have used for years on three different Kindles and it has worked great. I just bought a ten inch, non -Kindle Android tablet. I thought I would try a few new dimmer apps just to see what was out there. That was a waste of time! This is still the best dimmer on the market!
Auto set schedule doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy S2. Have to manually set at each startup.
Everything seems to work except the auto set feature, via which it's supposed to auto set to one of the four profiles at a specified time. Probably since I'm using it on tablets (non-Kindle) rather than phones, and the tablets go into sleep mode. Would be nice if author could figure out a solution for cases such as mine. Otherwise would have rated at five stars, as the interface and features are well thought out.
Does not dim below default setting on unrooted Nexus7. 'Shades' is free and works perfectly on my Nexus and Galaxy Note. I know most apps don't cost much, but it's unfair that you cannot get a refund when they clearly DON'T WORK.
Xoom After trying a half dozen dimmer aps, finally an ap where the author was smart enough to include the action bar. The entire screen dims! Excellent
Absolute crap. Couldn't get refund,. This app just crashes the Android system over and over again. Give me my money back
Unfortunately, l'm stuck with a phone on contract that doesn't have great battery life. Thanks to using this app my battery is lasting much longer. There is a small learning curve for learning to use it to best advantage but it's worth the effort.
