This app is amazing and I love the ability to be able to send sms from my computer. That way I don't always have to grab my phone to reply. Being able to change other settings on the phone through a chat client on my computer is great too.
Wow. All I really wanted, initially, was a way to send SMS messages through a chat client. (Take that, autocorrect). But what I got is so much more. If this is all you want, you'll be very satisfied. But you can send so many commands, as well. Very well thought out and executed. Thanks!
the best tool for android remote administration! you can do so much with it! from sending sms remotely, you can easily copy-paste stuff on it and struggle less with your phone's keyboard. you can even leave your android at home and still be able to sms people using it. optionally use it like an alarm for people at home using ring:... you can remotely reboot your android if you got root.. cmd:reboot ... since it is small and light, it's the best tool to manage old android phones if you have multiple c
Some commands never seem to work properly. Overall bugs need to be corrected aswell, the app crashes once in a bad while.
I couldn't live without it.
Last version used 200mb+ per SINGLE day. Beware. Heavy battery and bandwidth waste.
this wrks grt and completely functional (except few) alongwith grt documentation on google project so cant take out any rating for tht unique concept
9/16/2013: Latest version doesn't seem to work. It either doesn't respond to presses on "Connect" or it's stuck on "Waiting..." I love GTalkSMS (<3 CLI), and I bought the donate app. But there's one very annoying bug, which happens on my old and new phone: often when the phone switches from wifi to mobile data or vice versa, GTalkSMS won't be able to reconnect to GTalk. It's stuck in a loop or something. It'd require a force kill and restart.
Fantastic app, I use it all the time. But since the 4.4 update it will not connect. Just hangs on "Waiting..." status. Will give 5 stars if fixed...
I use the gmail web interface as my main desktop mail client, which of course has Google talk built in. I'm also using the chrome browser, which supports desktop notifications. So without installing any software on my PC I can now send, receive and reply to SMS messages. Works brilliantly. One thing that would be good is if gtalkSMS could support other notification types, other than just calls and SMS. Then it would get 6 stars!
Well at least I wasted my time installing this and setting up a jabber account justri have this attempt and never work. Yes I checkedmy setting and the domain. But it just spun the circle at me. Weak.
I will always love you..
Works as advertised
Very useful app. I mainly use it for sms sending and contact managment, and it implements an idea I had for a moment now: integrate sms in my IM client. Now that empathy is so well integrated in gnome via Gnome-shell under Linux, it has become a very easy way to send sms almost seamlessly. I was using SMS2PC and other similar apps before, but this one overtakes them all, with its simple but flexible concept and with its ubiquity. No need of wifi anymore, no need of yet-another-specific-proprietary software on your computer. It just works, whatever your platform, on your pc or on the go, wherever you are given that your phone has got internet. It's simple, interoperable and very effective, the way I like them :) A request: pleaaaaase, add commands to control the music playback! thanks!
So this is one of the best apps I've discovered. You should set up a different gmail just for this so you don't always show up online...Texting is so much faster...even if I leave my phone home I can still use it!!! Thanks to the developer... Read up on the faqs they have online if you have issues...works great I use my google account but use IMO to log in.
Was using talk2phone before I found this but it was very slow at times and gave you a giant jumble of text when you got a message. This is so much better! It's faster, has more commands, and recognizes contacts unlike talk2phone.
It does NOT per se ask for the password of your normal Gmail account; the developers recommend you to make a new Gmail or Jabber account with which the app can chat to your normal Gmail or Jabber. :-) It is explained in the documentation. This app is very useful! :-)
Always locks up after a command fails, you have to kill it manually from the apps list.
the app is asking me to put my gmail username and password, can't the Android account manager be used to retrieve my information. I see similar apps such as Talk2Phone or Desksms, they don't prompt me for my user name and password. Overall, this is a nice idea.
Takes up to 2 minutes to reply to commands
I've never written an app review before, but this is by far one of the most useful apps I have ever encountered. There are several others that do similar things, but I find myself usually using this one. I highly recommend this to everyone with an Android. My only criticism is that the name could be a little more appropriate/accurate.
Ultra-light and complete application to control remotly one's phone ! Thanks to XMPP-based chat, you can send SMS discreetly from the GMail web interfacee for example. The ring command is very useful when you loose your phone, as it make it ring out loud (regardless of your phone volume).
Great app that does what it says it does, and does it well! I've used it for over a year without any problems up until the previous update which suddenly had tons of force close issues, but the newest update quickly fixed those problems and it is now back to running smoothly.
App is very useful. Can do more stuff than Chrome to Phone even if you want just share urls but unfortunately it does work! 5 out of 10 times it fails by stalling in connection to server phase.
This app has a real good set of features, unfortunatly force closes always when i start it on my galaxy tab 10.1, so could not review it :(
I love the features of this app... it makes my life more productive and convenient. I can use my phone remotely while im using my PC or my tablet.
Great application! Highly recommend it.
a bit tricky and command like but its good. though is the phone got stolen no use cuz rubber will first root the phone and format everything before turning on. overal nice and easy reminds me of DOS! :D
When will they Shut down that app
