I've had the Guardian KGLPS1-1 for almost a year now. It came with one sensor that I have hooked up to the water heater. I still can't tell you a year later if this is even working properly or connected to my internet. I have read my email updates and attempted multiple times to get it working properly though the app. What a P.O.S. It won't connect to my internet (I do understand technology a bit) and now the app won't let me back in, after I erased the controller to add a new one. DON'T BUY!
App no longer works. I cannot open the app. There is a BETA App, but no new production app and version hasn't been updated since 2019. Have had the system for a couple of years. Had a leak since this was installed, and the sensors were faulty (known issue by the company at that time), which resulted in damage. No notification and no water shut off, just a sensor sitting in the water mocking me. Sensors were replaced by company. The concept for the system is great, the execution is terrible.
Says "all good" when my valve controller isn't even connected to WiFi. Cannot get it to connect to WiFi after turning water off to change a filter. Wasted several hours trying to fix. Just not a reliable app or product. Keep trying, you'll get it right, eventually.
The app crashed on me after calibration making it impossible to set up the system. After finding location it crashes - if that helps the support team. update: I gave this team 6 weeks or so to fix the issue. They never did fix it. I returned the device.
Read all the review thought might get lucky. Well I did not. Got connected to the controller and calibrated no problem. App requested to upgrade firmware did not work multiple times. Ok I gave up since it was working I decided to add sensors. As soon as I put the drop of water the sensor started beeping but the controller went offline and I am stuck as I tried to replicate the install with no luck. 4/24/20 installed new app on a replacement device no luck. DO NOT BUY RETURN IMMEDIATELY.
Much improved app. Since the last update I have had no issues with the valve controller going offline. I had an issue with a faulty leak detector, but customer service was great and replaced all detectors. Looks like the system is now a winner.
1. app has bugs. since mar5, 2019 android no longer works on my tablet. 2. issues with firmware update. am running a mesh network. disconnecting two of the nodes, firmware updated after that. then reconnected nodes. controller only appears to communicate with primary router and not nodes. 3. guardian app still works on iPhone 6 4. it would appear that if you reinstall the app, you have to reset the controller. this should be fixed. a pain if you install the app on another device.
the water sensors definitely detect water, which is good, but I can't get past the calibration page in the app, so nothing can be set up as a connected system. so until i figure that out, I'm stuck listening for beeping.
Undoubtedly the most non functional app and device purchased have owned it for over an year and it worked for a month and went offline. Could not fix it and worked with the support team who have mailed 2 more if these all of which are having connectivity issues.
I had great hope at time of purchase, in spite of many negative reviews I had read. The heart of the system (the valve controller) is sturdy and has good ergonomics overall; however problems start as soon as you try to set it up via the app. The app is horrible (as described by so many other reviewers in this thread). The iOS version is not any better than the Android version — I tried them both. I’m in IT and know what I’m talking about; this is not an uneducated opinion.
Guardian leak ROCKS. I had a plumber come and install a ball valve so i could install this device. It works as advertised. I hope I never have to use it, but if i do get a leak I'm safe from flooding. The app does need a little work. Alexa/Google implementation would be nice. It would be nice to create your own names for the sensors. Thanks Guardian. Great product easy to install. Sensors are nice to be able to add remote senors. love this product. Thanks Rick
Cant finish update tye firmware of the device, after the app update, it will update the device firmware. The update alert pop up after open the app, and it will start update right after I press update. But it wont finished, the circle keep turning. I need to force close the app after a while. However, the device status will then say firmware up to date after the force close.
Hands down the buggiest app I have ever tried. Too bad, because they have a great idea, but due to poor software engineering, they are bound to fail. Sad really.
App is not working at all. No notifications and can't control valve. Shows as connected but unresponsive.
App not working. Valve controller and leak detectors all show connected and ok in app. However, can't control the valve or receive alerts or status updates when triggering the leak detectors. Not good.
Worst app ever. Crashed five times during valve calibration. Once i finally got it calibrated i tested the water sensor but didn't get a notification.
App will not connect to Guardian system. Costumer Service never answers phone and does not return phone call after I leave a message. Totally worthless!
Great product with fantastic technical support available. Very simple to install and provides peace of mind.

Cant connect to this thing with a galaxy s8, s9, iPhone 8,9 or 10. Expensive paperweight right now.
It is well build system however it needs a strong wifi and a better operating system from the owner
Jan 2021 update - Why create a new app instead of just updating the current one?
Unreliable...buggy. This app is dead on ios and android.
Not working with Android S9.
Application needs notification and a way to "custom name" the devices (loundry room I'm looking at you)

Doesn't get past setup screen cannot install.... Waste of about $500 with additional sensors purchased. Buy a different brand. Bought this at Crapco... I mean Costco - sellers of leaky batteries, and ignored my claim after their delivery company incorrectly hooked up a new fridge that flooded my house. They're corporate criminals like the Trump administration

I want to give up on this product. I have had issues with never-ending firmware update. It was resolved with app update. The vendor support has been great but this feels like a beta product. I changed to a new router and needed to change the network. Now it will not connect to any Wi-Fi network. Just like the other review it is an expensive paperweight. I've spent hours reconnecting sensors and reinstall my apps and trying connection on different phones.i am extremely frustrated.
