Guess the Move (Go Problems)

Studying actual Pro's games can be a very rewarding occupation for Go players of all Ranks. This App presents positions from many different Pro games and asks you to find the next move.
The ancient board game Go (Weiqi in China, Baduk in Korea) features impressing depth, strategic and tactical maneuvers. Aspects that can be trained by studying Pro games include: Openings (Joseki and Fuseki), Middle Game fights, Endgame Problems (Yose), Life&Death Problems (Tsumego)

This is good training, and it is fun. It should be possible to at least get an sgf with the position. Perfect would be if the app itself allows play in a position. Another good thing would be to make a short comment or hint available, why the chosen solution was best - but only on request: Evaluation of one's own mistakes is interesting, too.

This app uses a multiple choice style problems to train whole board analysis during the opening, mid-, and endgame. Working through these problems is definitely helpful, but it would be better if at least some of the more complex problems had an brief explanation as to why a particular move is better. After all these are PRO games, and pros look at the board on a whole other level. It seems a quick explanation would not be too difficult to include, and would greatly increase the value of the problems.

If I can actually practice the variations on the board, it would be five star.

Good app. Wish there was a way to turn off notifications, and to be able to tell which problems I completed

A nice way to learn good moves when short of time and only have a few minutes to play.

Of course, it should be called 'Evaluate the move'. A great way of improving my game; my only suggestion for the authors would be to leave a blank line between the bottom of the text and the top of the board, to increase clarity.

Id say it helps intuition. But could make bad plays a habit. 4.0 even

My only request is that the correct answers include a one sentence explanation such as "Black prefers to build outside influence" or "White's cut protects the corner" because the reasons for the more difficult moves will be evident to very few players.

As a relative beginner, I find it to be fun and instructional. Simple, understated iterface. Nice job. 😃

It's OK. Basically you have a bunch of positions from pro games where you choose which move was next, but I would prefer to use it as a tool for studying complete games.
