Guide to Safe Scouting

The purpose of the Guide to Safe Scouting is to prepare members of the Boy Scouts of America to conduct Scouting activities in a safe and prudent manner. The policies and guidelines have been established because of the real need to protect members from known hazards that have been identified through 100 years of experience. Limitations on certain activities should not be viewed as stumbling blocks; rather, policies and guidelines are best described as stepping-stones toward safe and enjoyable adventures for all BSA members.
All participants in official Scouting activities should become familiar with the Guide to Safe Scouting and be aware of state or local government regulations that supersede Boy Scouts of America policies and guidelines. The Guide to Safe Scouting provides an overview of Scouting policies and procedures rather than comprehensive, standalone documentation. For some items, the policy statements are complete. Unit leaders are expected to review the additional reference material cited prior to conducting such activities.

In situations not specifically covered in this guide, activity planners should evaluate the risk or potential risk of harm, and respond with action plans based on common sense, community standards, the Boy Scout motto, and safety policies and practices commonly prescribed for the activity by experienced providers and practitioners.

This app is based on the 2011 version of the GTSS, which gets updated twice a year by the BSA, which means this app is many revisions behind. The developer seems to have abandoned this app. It's disappointing, since it would be a great resource if it were kept up to date.

I love this app-but it says some of the content is not available on the 'free version'. I cannot find another version-to pay to see rest of app. Its awesome to have the GTSS ( BSA Rules Bible) in palm of my hand to 'clarify' for Leaders ;-)

I would give it 5 stars if the developer would update and keep it current. Developer is also unresponsive.

As with other products by this developer, it appears this app is no longer being kept up to date. The latest GTSS can be found on the bsa website.

I can't open some sections on my nexus 7 or on my D4. It says something about a screen not being connected. Emailed the developer but got no reply.

Very handy reference, well identified categories so you don't need a keyword search. Nothing superfluous.

Very useful. 4 stars because the app closes when selecting some sections.
