Excellent for Gaming Conventions. Likely good for any event with multiple things happening at once
this app is poorly designed, constantly fails, and apparently can't cache anything so you'll be staring at a bright white blank screen a lot waiting for it to reload. it's lacking dark mode, lacking proper venue map integration, event browsing and searching is a chore. just terrible all around.
Amazing app ruined by one infuriating feature: random & frequent "Update complete!" messages which lose your place in a list of potentially thousands of schedules activities (in the case of MozFest) and jump you back to the top of the list. Makes me want to throw my phone in the sea.
It's a little bit of a shock that it came so easy for me apps like this are usually hard for me to get
I use this every year for my favorite con. It not only lets me set my schedule, it sends reminders (of you want that). The panelists can pre-load slides or handouts they want you to have, leave notes later on a question they had to look up and get back to us. So many great ways to look up panels by name, guest, subject...love it.
I stopped using Guidebook during a previous version which failed to notify of me of any of my selected events. Working a convention this weekend, I need to add custom events for shifts in addition to the normal programming, but with the latest version, trying to edit a time for a custom event first kicks me back to the custom event list. Trying to edit it again just completely crashes the app. As usual, I am forced to manually update a third party solution or just rely on pen and paper. Trash.
While I understand the current limits of the app may be caused by the information that is supplied by the event coordinator, I still want more. A better map, a way to share and update with a group, wether an event requires additional cash or materials, etc. I will still reccomend this to people, but I hope some things can get improved.
The vendor controls the data with an iron fist. I formerly liked the app, and used it whenever I could. When I got a new device, I would download all my old guidebooks. Recently, I got a new phone, and none of my old guidebooks were available for download. I tried backup of my old phone and restore to my new phone, and no joy. I tried looking inside /Android/data/com.guidebook.android/files/guides and other similar directories on my old phone, but it was empty. I tried contacting the support people, and they said that guidebooks won't transfer between devices and that the old guidebooks in question have lapsed. I'm done with this app. I'd rather have PDFs or even paper.
Terrible. Constantly trying to update itself (which bumps you out of whatever you were trying to look at), hogs battery, can't open linked PDFs, and the list goes on.
The app is helpful but it is constantly "updating" when i open it and it gets stuck on a screen with an updating loading symbol and I cannot access any information I need for my events. Very frustrating.
This app is possibly one of the most helpful things I have experienced in my life. Not only is it a good scheduling tool, it gives you reminders, maps, and descriptions of events. Altogether this app has made my convention experience significantly better. Whomever made this app I appreciate your existence.
somehow the app got worse. it tries to update a book then brings the app to the foregroundwhen it either fails or succeeds. regardless, dont bring the app to the foreground. just wait until i do. it still can't share specific event...
i download this for conventions that use it. it helps but definitely not worth keeping on your phone afterwards. layout is something you have to get used to, and if you dont know where you are staying perfectly its no help period
This app worked at first and was pretty easy to use. Now it just constantly "updates" and is unusable. Same thing after uninstall and reinstall.
Instead of opening an interactive map and schedule, all this app would do was lead me to Anime North's facebook page. It was completely useless and i dont understand how anyone got any use out of it.
Best app for fan conventions, hands down. Way better than the paper schedules that we had to use before the days of smartphones. Every anime/comicbook/steampunk ect. should use this app for their guides.
This really helped with directions around the venue, build a schedule and even rate the instructors. I definitely love this app!
I love this app because I had to download it for a competition in Sacremento. I tjought it wouldnt be much of a help but it was. I did not even know what time an award's assembly was and it helped tell the time and what the event was.
The app is beautiful. The layout is very modern and user-friendly. Love it! Haven't faced any issues!
Literally the best app of its kind I have ever used. Blew me away after minutes of use. I especially like the rating system. So well integrated with the events!
Hate it. Wish places and conventions would stick to printed schedules. Longform is much easier for some people to read.
A fantastic app overall but hindered by constant app crashing not allowing me to view an upcoming event schedule.
It's great! I love how you can set timers before hand on the actual app instead of me checking the times and setting it up on my phone!
Can't download the guidebooks and I have to keep researching them. They don't automatically save to my profile. Kind of useless
I always use this app when going to a con, it helps keep my activites organized and makes my time at the con all the more fun.
I'm trying to make sure I am signed up properly for events at a conference. It is VERY confusing and hard to use.
Running a pixel, the app continuously crashes when trying to open the conference I'm attending and is completely unusable.
