While there are good free apps too, I tried the trial run after purchasing my guitar and liked it, so I decided to stick with it. No regrets a year later. Love the ability to cast to my tv, and the fact that it is a very well-structured e-learning concept. Consists of videos, non-timed reading exercises and timed, animated tablature, with different playing styles and instructors. Well worth the subscription fee.
The app is good but not great. It should have an easier way to login like fingerprint or face recognition. It's different in the all and website, which is ok but sometimes they don't sync. The instructors are great and the lessons are helpful. I'm picking up guitar after 20 years of not playing so the review is helpful and I've learned things I never knew existed. Great job, just make it easier to log in, and no I don't want to use social media to log in.
Love this app, Makes you want to play with its easy progression. Easy to understand the lessons with high quality videos. Easily switch back and forth between genres. Very rewarding when you nail a lesson and you can see how much you are improving. Loads of songs and riffs to learn. Highly recommend if you little or no experience of playing guitar, bass or ukulele.
Still a great program for teaching but the app has several flaws. Not the least of which is that it constantly logs you out and will not offer to remember your login. It is insanely annoying to log in when I just want to start practicing, especially because sometimes it says my account doesn't even exist. The notifications are also worthless. In comes a notification about some rad thing Fender is doing today, and when you click it, you are taken to the progress page.
I've tried on a few occasions over the years to learn guitar but never got very far. Now I'm semi retired and have more leisure time I thought I would try once more, and after testing a number of instructional websites chose the fender play app. I'm really enjoying the whole experience, and find the Fender Playapp suits my needs very well. Each level has an array of easy to understand and follow bitesized lessons making the whole experience a lot of fun.
The instructional material provides an excellent self-paced learning experience. I experienced some problems with sending the audio via bluetooth into a Donner Mini Turbo which feeds the mixed audio via wire into headphones. The app does not support my attempted configuration. However, Fender support reached out to me and asked for specific information so they can address the issue. This course fits my needs as a 70 year old beginner and appears suitable for any age starting out. Worth it!
Really great app for learning guitar. I bought my very first guitar at age 52 and have been using the app for about a month now and can definitely see progress. The only suggestion for improvement to the app would be the ability to increase font size. Even with reading glasses, it's hard to read some of the tab numbers. Definitely recommend!
Fender Play is an easy to learn guide to the guitar. Each video is short and to the point but captures your attention with the easy to follow instructions. The chord is presented, along with the tablature, and video. I've used a lot of different methods to try to learn the guitar and so far this is the best way. I can play 5 songs by the end of week 1. I am flying through these lessons with ease and confidence. Thanks Fender! Easy and intuitive interface, too.
I wasted hours going down 'beginner guitarist' wormholes on YouTube, without any real improvement to show for it. As an absolute beginner, I've found the structured Fender lessons to be really helpful, and they've managed to keep me motivated. Even seeing some improvement. Great app
This is a good app for beginner's to intermediate. My one issue is that there are no lyrics included with the songs. The app gives you certain sections of the song, intro, verse, etc., but you have to figure out how to play along with the entire song on your own.
I'm back in to playing guitar now for the last two years, after a 25 year layoff from music. This platform is a great opportunity for me to learn "my music" and get the technical skills down that us self-taught players often miss. Thanks Fender for the app, and I am so excited to see Mr Tom Morello in the collections!!! 🤘🤘
Fantastic setup, learn numerous genres of music at your own pace from absolute beginner to intermediate level and beyond as Fender are continuously adding to and extending the program. Give it a go, you can't really go wrong, the Fender family forum is always available for any questions and queries and who knows you may just win a guitar in the process of practicing, what's not to like?
Overall, it's good, but the latest update has problems. Specifically, it sticks in portrait mode and it won't record that you completed a session for a streak. These aren't problems on the website.
When I tap on an artist or try to find songs by tapping on "see all" artists, the app just spins and nothing loads up. Also, users should be able to long press on a song or any piece of content to add it to favorites.
It has been a few months now and I really like the app. I bought the service after the trial and now I am learning to play. When I first downloaded the app it wouldn't let me log in. So I removed it and reinstalled it and then it started working. Gonna try the free trial and see of I like the service now.
I played guitar many years ago. Despite taking private lessons I never really progressed passed the intermediate stage. Fender play let's you work at your own pace and has put together a series of lessons that are easy to follow and are in a logical order that help you reach your goal of playing the guitar.
Love this app! I am a old beginner. The instructors are great at walking me through the lessons and encouraging me. The lesson layouts and progression are great for both teaching the music basics and making learning fun and rewarding. Feedback mode is awesome! Like having a music teacher right beside you.
You keep asking me to review the app so here you go. With every update on Android, more issues occur. At first, it was fine. Then, I had to log in every time. Now, I need to log in every time and the streak tracker stopped working after the update today.
Brilliant. Finally on line tuition that's clear and easy to follow, with a clear path. It isn't (and doesn't claim to be) a magic course that can take you from never playing to Jimi Hendrix in a week using an approach no one's ever thought of before! It's a really well structured course, delivered by very skilled and experienced tutors. Be aware, as is the case with ANY musical instrument, it doesn't take away the need for effort and practice, practice, practice!
As a complete beginner I find fender play to be a great tool. I feel like I am progressing much better than trying on my own. It has an easy structure to follow. Not sure how well this app will help an advanced player, but I certainly recommend it for a beginner.
Mostly OK, but tone downloading doesn't work. I have been using Fender Play for about a year now. Yesterday I bought a Mustang GTX amp. The main reason I chose this amp was to download the tones from Fender Play. I am very disappointed that this is not working. First, when I tapped the download button in the app, it opened Google Play Store, even though the app was already installed. After a Fender Play update, the red button loads the website in a browser instead of opening the Fender Tone app.
From the start it has been learning all the way I am so glad I found fender play it has stopped me wallowing in self pity and has probly saved my life! I know that sounds dramatic but it is the truth I have regained focus after such a tragic year there is more to learn and the journey continues bless you allxx
This app has been incredibly helpful for this beginner, after many failed attempts to learn the guitar over many many years I feel as though I am finally accomplishing my dream to learn to play... Very well put together program, and very inspiring... Keeps me motivated and constantly moving forward.
As a lifelong musically challenged individual, I really like this app. For the first time, I feel like I am actually learning how to play a musical instrument. The lessons are compact, consise and satisfying. I am encouraged by the fact that I am, at last, grasping the skills l have long sought. Easy to do and effective.
Awesome app! I started with the 3 monts offered when I purchased my Strat Squier and ended up to sign up 2 years in a row! Lots of quality content and features. A great tool to learn, practice and have fun! Thank you.
The content is great for this guitar beginner. However, since the update on 5/24/22 the app keeps rotating to portrait mode no matter how I position my tablet. I contacted support and they suggested I uninstall/reinstall, but I'd already done that. I tried it anyway and still get the same result. Such a basic feature that doesn't work correctly.
