Liked this game very much, the party creation, the game mechanics and the interface: simple and intuitive. The longevity is not very high, but you can still re-play with new characters.
RPG in the true old style. Enjoyable dungeon crawl, with a straight forward story. You can level grind if you want or jump in if fancy a challenge, err, I went for the level grind all the way to game end. Really enjoyed this relaxed game.
Not as fun/intuitive/silly and broken as the first game, but still alright. I've only played it a little, but the encounter rate is stupid high compared to the first game.
Great game. Very absorbing. Love the quests and the simple game mechanics. Better than Gurk 1 (Gurk 1 ended up being too difficult at one point).
Best game ever. Only reason i gave it a 1 star is so that this review(request) would get noticed. Upload music online!!!! Please!!!!! Ive been humming these songs for years just do it!!!!
Don't know what planet these folks writing the rave reviews come from but I hated it 🤔 ..from creating a melee attacker with 4hp to the mage with no ranged magic to start with.. controls were awkward & smelly.. music wouldn't shut up.. forgot I had it laying around for a coupla hours else I would've got a refund & bought some cyanide instead..
Works better than the original 8 bit RPG's
Still love this masterpiece of a game.
Really Good! The first gurk was solid, and the third was really good aswell, but I think this one takes the cake. Added plenty of awesome features, items, and enemy's without making the game stupidly over complicated. Adding music and quests really made the game feel more alive. Overall a good 4/5 stars keep up the good work!
This game is great fun for exploring new Ares and questing. I loved the Ultima games and still play them. The two things I would love to see where this game could do even better is to add more character customization within each class as you level and the ability to name characters/name main character.
I played through and enjoyed Gurk but this one puts its predecessor to shame! I only just downloaded it not 10 minutes ago and already I love it. It doesn't take nearly as long to get into. The music and SFX are enjoyable and I really like being able to cherry pick your party from the start. A great added touch!
This game is awsome! Gameplay is fun and the difficulty seems to be perfect (edit: after i finish the game, i can say that it was a bit too easy for me). Thanks for this game! So rare are the games i buy on the store because none of them are realy to my taste. But this game is worth it! I think its only the second game i finish since i have an "intelligent" phone. And is going to stay my favoritw game for a long time.. well, until i finish Gurk III i hope :)
I liked Gurk 1 enough to pay for Gurk 2, and I like this even more. The menus are much better, but not quite perfect. You can get used to them though. My only real issue with the game is that you can't turn off the music. A patch for that would be nice. I really appreciate that there are no in app purchases, and that it doesn't require crazy permissions. This game is your battery's best friend. You can play for hours, and it uses less battery percentage than standby. Turn your screen brightness down, and you can play for days on a charge. Gurk 2 is good enough that I'm going to buy Gurk 3 also, and just hope that the music can be turned off. Thanks for the great game series!
Absolutely worth the money. Excellent gameplay, design, great items and great soundtrack. I found a few bugs however they are not vital to gameplay so I wouldnt worry much about them, but the ships can go on the lava and when you purchase more than one ship, if you travel on the same square as another ship it will be absorbed, and you are left with one. Lastly the eastern castle where you can purchase a ship has a square in the water directly to the south that you can walk on. overall great game!!
Just finished the game. It is a great expansion to the original. Simple but interesting story line. The difficulty was just right - not too hard ... not too easy. Controls are a bit clunky but it didn't detract from the enjoyment of the game. Pretty sure I'll be giving the 3rd installment a try.
oh wait... you might have fight those too. ;-) i liked Gurk but loved Gurk 2. i can't wait for 3. i loved the variety of creatures and the different strategies required to defeat them. i have to say i was disappointed when i defeated the last bad guy. i will be starting over again! one thing that is needed are some basic instructions. i missed this game genre when it was popular. still trying to figure out the various attributes.
I really enjoy playing this. It has an easy to follow story line and fun battle scene. Even though I've beat the game, I'm still playing until I get at least +1 drops of the best items! Also just bought Gurk III and looking forward to it! )^o^(
Ive been playing for a while and i have to say, im a big fan of rpg games fallout skyrim you name it. But this can bring me back to the good old gameboy days on my phone! Worth every penny
It's a dungeon crawl, but I doesn't pretend to be anything else. The controls are better than Gurk l and the playing field is bigger, but the spirit is the same. I've played it through multiple times.
After gurk 1 I didn't think they could do any better but somehow they managed, I loved the map and the boat addition and the new monsters and much more! I'll be getting gurk III tomorrow and I can't wait to see what it has for me!
Pro: Inexpensive, simple, nostalgic, great time-waster, good pacing (don't have to grind much), resource-lite, doesn't "phone home", doesn't sucker you in with a low purchase price just to ask you to micro-pay for other stuff in-game (hate games that do that). Con: Touch interface should have been exploited more instead of wasting screen space with buttons on bottom. Annoyed that I can't truly make my own chars by changing icon and name.
Wonderful design and combat is streamlined yet involved enough to allow for ample strategy. This is by far one of the very best games on android, hands down.
The graphics are beside the point... pretend you've unearthed your (grand)dad's C64, and learn to appreciate pure classic RPG game play: loot, and improving your characters' fighting abilities.
A classic - better than dragon warrior. So well done it's ridiculous.
This would have easily been 5 Stars.I purchased it and to my surprise the game only utilizes half my screen. Looking at maps was ridiculous.
This is a brilliant old-school CRPG with a surprisingly well-done soundtrack. It would be an absolutely perfect game if [1] it had slightly more story and developed NPCs, [2] you could flee unnecessary encounters by walking off the edge of the battle screen (à la Ultima), and [3] dungeons held secrets to encourage thorough exploration.
