This app used to be a mess a few years back but now that google is crapping the bed more often than not I decided to check back on the oldies and this one delivers now. The maps can get heavy really fast if you need a few countries but the interface is clean and fast. To get the routing planner easily accessible you need to enable the button on the interface settings and thats it.
Very nice map.. Required some features like elevation profile graph, drawing straight line route and 3 D terrain feature in here map.. Kindly add in future updates.
Data download for offline use necessitates shutting down VPN/firewall. Only offline GPS I've tried requiring that. Feature-rich. Pleasant UI. Huge footprint is understandable. Like that data can be externally stored (to SD card).
I am using this app for more then 4 years in very complex environments around the world. I have to say that so far never get lost, and that is the reason that would like to recommend it to all, professionally and for fun as well. Even tested it during the flights and it works, however have to sit next to window. Few times lost all the data, but needs to be synced or with gmail or fb. Two thumbs up for developers.
Free version was great. Upgraded to Pro version and initial download was plagued with glitches and crashes. After finally getting the app installed and beginning to download maps, app crashed after downloading two or three states. Unless using the app takes me to nirvana, this one will go on the trash heap. Makes me wonder what drove all the glowing reviews.
I want to love this app but I can't it's buggy, when I update the maps it hangs up and I have to keep clicking wait on my Android phone. sometimes it'll say download maps in an area that I've already downloaded the map. When it works it works great I don't think it's me because most everything else I have works fine it's just that this app hangs all the time. I recommend it because of the detail but I warn people because of the stability good
Came here after the maps.me being transfered between companies, infested by trackers and ads along the way (kind of Cheetah situation back then..). This app seems solid, has just the right amount of functions (not too much, not too little) and works smoothly. No weird DNS requests in the background or other weird stuff. The best one I've found after looking for months for a solid offline map app with frequent updates. Kudos, dev!
Nice app, but much nicer with an option like GPS layout.
My favorite offline navigation map. Good clean UI. Intuitive and with most of the features I need. I like the most how responsive it is with almost no lag even on slower and older device. Love using it. As more features are added over time it will only get better.
Really nice set up on downloading offline maps per countries. Thumbs up! One question for the developer... what's the total overall size if user wants to download the worldwide map offline for all countries?
An otherwise really good, useful app is let down by causing bad battery drain and questionable support - I reported this battery drain issue, but no response.
Sometimes the map updating process can not actually update the maps. Sometimes the maps can get corrupted during an update and they will need to be redownloaded again from scratch. Apart from that the app is ok, i like the features and the UI , just wish that the map updates wouldn't break the offline maps, even if it happens rather rarely.
This would be great if the Android version was updated to include all the features of the iOS version. Potential to be a 5* app with it's slick intuitive route editing, and fast small file size maps. Shame updates for Android are not more frequent.
Upgraded back to 5 stars as the curl error on downloading maps has been fixed, but still think there needs to be a clearer option to switch between offline and online mapping other than clicking city hiking etc. But once u know it's fine. Great app.
This app does not work on my Motorola phone - neither free nor Pro versions. The off-line maps have a white grid when zoomed in and the app crashes often. I am hopeful I can get a refund from Google. The developer never responded to me.
This is my second time writing about this app. Just as before, this app is a great app. The support team are great and get right on the problem if there is one and fix it quickly. I gave the app 5 stars last time but I have only given the app 3 stars this time. The app is great I use it constantly and have other responders using it as well. But now with such a high price for the app. I can no longer recommend the app to the new first responders in the area. They price themselves out business.
I'm using this with a snowmobile trail map overlay.... It works really well, as I am outside of cell service coverage area most of the time. Only 4 stars because it doesn't have satellite base map....
Terrible route navigation. Often fails with bizarre messages. Good when it works but not reliable. Good for biking / hiking only due to loading custom maps.
unable to download maps. Tells me to check my connection, doesnt matter if wifi or mobile data (managed to get it done 1ce). On online maps: tried to plan a route and got a notification, that the 'path distance exceeds the max distance limit' 🤷 No info how big the limit might be...
Been using it for a year now and i was really happy with the app. But have put a lot of data on the app and yesterday when I opened the map all my Data I have saved on the map the past year was all gone.
The great app? But. The triangle narrow and rout line have the same color, blue color. It is no good idea. I can't see narrow when I am driving....
Really good, but sometimes now it doesn't automatically use a national cycle route when i have open cycle maps on and cycling as my method of transport. Also when I am offline I cant seem to zoom in on a map I have downloaded it still stays blurred and massive? Is there a way to fix this or is this default? Thank you,
Very detailed, off-line maps - really accurate and very practical. No need for internet access when on the road.
Fair enough. I have used it without any issues sofar. But I'm a mariner and was disappointed the app does not have boat mode. It has car cycling and walking mode but without a boat mode. What a letdown.
I use a variety of desktop tools to plan my longer rides, all of them paid for. But when I am en route, I exclusively use Guru Maps Pro, and have done so for about five years. Reliable, accurate, easy to use. Low power consumption, and no need for a data connection. As I ride in various countries, this is important to me.
