GuteBooks Free Ebooks
GuteBooks includes books from various sources, including Project Gutenberg, Google, and OpenLibrary.org. These works are in the public domain, and are totally free. That means that you won't find this year's new releases, but you will find the best literature of past years. Indeed, while many of the titles are the same ones you would find on a Kindle or a Nook, they are not just cheap, but entirely free.
Gutebooks allows you to view eBooks in two ways
- by viewing the original pages of the scanned books, or by viewing resizable text scaled for your screen. Choose whichever method is best for you from the options menu.

Not very good. First, the short number of reading line selected by the Text to Speech results in a "jerky" listening exoerience which serious affects my concentration. Second: When I need to pause my listening the reader start back at the beginning. This simply make it impossible to use. One star
Horrible. The app needs some serious optimisation, it is incredibly difficult and user-unfriendly, to the point where the buttons don't work and the pages take quite a while to load. Only downloaded it because of Librivox, but overall an enormous disappointment.
What a wonderful project and this app makes the huge collection of literature available with ease. And text size, page color, etc can be customized. Highly recommended!
Don't want complain too much but I thought if I open ebook from librivox it will find the matching title but it never does shows no results. Also instead of the cheaper free google robotic voices or whatever they are why not allow me using already installed voices of higher quality. Then again, going from the ebook and searching librivox nets no results.
Freezes up alot. Displays controls over the text. Its probably something I am doing wrong, but I have wasted enough time with it. YMMV.
I downloaded, hoping that issues brought up in previous reviews had been resolved, but it still highlights offensive book covers on first opening. Could the "family friendly" option be added that is in your LibriVox app? Or the option already suggested of not viewing book covers? I appreciate the Gutenberg website and will have to stick to downloading my ebooks from there to other e-readers for now.
The interface of the app could be better, also it's a little slow and lags often, otherwise great collection and kudos to the efforts put into project Gutenberg!
I love this app. I've tried several apps to access Gutenburg and this is the only one that lets me do a subject search. Small on storage, too. Keep up the good work! And Thank You!
Incomprehensible catalogue, often displays different books from those selected, difficult to read because books are photocopies (often badly done). Very disappointing app
Just horrible. It takes forever to open a book and one can't jump to a specific chapter, not worth it.
It is a good app although not compatible with screen reading software for the visually impaired
Horrible app I'm tired of finding apps with only old classic books it doesn't even have sam crescent or shanon messenger or natasha Andrews so disappointing I read a wide range of books but this preset book thing just won't work for me this is the 5th app that does this .Anybooks was my first choice but now they are charging money and as a 14 year old I don't have money in my Google account 😡😡
Tried the audio, for father Brown an English priest! An American narrator, pronunciation of English town names so bad couldn't get passed the first paragraph. robotic . Sentence running into one another. Robot?
Going to uninstall right after this message. App opens random books, not the one shown or selected. Goodbye
I love this app!! I love the options for the format and audio I love it all! Is a great app. It's the best!

It doesn't load book as text 😔
Unable to download those books cant keep the bookmark .
Can't bookmark. The text mode is useless, doesn't scroll fluidly but sticks horribly almost 1 minute to move 4 pages. Can't download graphic mode and that is not a winner either, it jumps to the next page instead of scrolling to the bottom. I only downloaded this because it was a librivox link. I will keep librivox but this will in the e-trash.
