HALauncher - Android TV

I installed HAL on my android TV device and it's been working great. I feel that it can be difficult to upload images for backgrounds but was able to find a workaround. One thing is that it seems with a recent update my icons for apps have defaulted to a default android guy. Plex, pandora and Google music are some of the apps affected. I'm unable to figure out why this is. Not sure how to get HAL to check for these icons again. Overall really like the program but support and documentation is hard to come by.

Literally the best Android TV Box launcher period. Its got the design of an actual android tv ui, you just gotta learn and tinker in the seetiings to get a good results but its so worth it, the only problem is that i cant change the color of the font in the side bar? Its kinda annoying if you want a white sidebar but the font doesnt seem to change to black? Hope you add this feature.

Needed an alternative Launcher for my Amazon FireTV1 and eventually found this here. Lightweight, ad-free, simplistic appearance meets powerful launcher. Really nice is how you can define your own categories for your installed apps. But the feature that makes HALauncher stands out of others is the powerful shortcut feature. It makes it very easy to create shortcuts for complex configurations. Esp. if you are using Emulators, can simply select from a list and link it to the desired game. No more fiddling through endless menus to run a game. The only thing that might needs to be worked on is "Prefer TV mode" be assigned to any given category, and the customization of the system information (Time, Date, Wi-Fi etc.) with different font, font-size, color. Also a donation version to support the author... :D Besides that really happy, keep up the good work.

Lightweight and quite usable. A good replacement for the default, bloated launcher of Google Chromecast with Android TV. However, the setting screens and controls are clunky. Also, some app icons changed for no apparent reason, and can't easily be improved.

The launcher is great! Only that everytime an app updates the icons on the launcher doesn't automatically change... You will have to go back to settings and manually remove the old icon and change it with a the new one... I will give it a 3 star for now as it is so annoying and time consuming... But if they fix that ill be releasing 5 stars hands down! :)

Great launcher, if you could please have the apps organised into categories like games, movies, tv etc rather than handheld, tv etc... Because most people use this in addition to leanback not as a replacement, and we already have tv apps on the apps page and if we had a separate category for games it'd be useful

BEST Launcher for TV Box. better than ATV or shield & others. Can we have in settings: 1) Left column (categories) infinite scroll: when at bottom of left column, pressing DOWN goes to top. at top of left column pressing up goes to bottom. Faster interface! Try it. + 2) Option to set categories (rows) invisible. Thank you sensei 6*

This app is absolutley free, quite unbelievable... Way better than ATV or the others as long as you know your way around... Animation is smooth and you can choose to disable the advert... I used it on my X96 and the experience feels similar if not better than the Shield Pro that I also use...

Great launcher for android tv, although I have noticed the newest version is crashing a lot on my tv boxes. The fact that you can save/restore settings is awesome and makes it very easy to re customize my box. However this option is not available on amazon devices. Will it be in the future?

One of the most customizable tv launchers, but clock error at noon, date/time too close together and many copies of same app in all apps list should be fixed. If these problems are fixed, plus add weather and calendar widget, it would be the best launcher.

I use this launcher for my Nvidia Shield and it has replaced the pre-installed leanback launcher. lots of settings to setup your homescreen the way you want. they have an option to turn off ads for free which is great but it almost makes you feel guilty if you turn it off :(

The best free launcher available for Android TV. The only problem is that there is no way to automatically update the apps list once any app is installed/uninstalled. If you use only limited apps, it's perfect.

Does Not Show As A Launcher. I have installed it on a 2nd gen Firestick (Fire OS 5.2.6.8) and have attempted to use with Launcher Hijack v3 to set as my default launcher but it is not recognized as a launcher, therefore I was unsuccessful. I had to install Leanback Launcher, which did work but I much prefer the customizable features in Halauncher. BTW, when I tried to use Launcher Hijack v4, it triggered an Accessibility notification on my stick that is unable to be resolved. Please fix. Thanks

It works great on my Pendoo box with a mini-keyboard d-pad and gives me access to more of my Android settings. I love how you can create your own app categories and order them how you want. I just wish it had full themes I could choose from. Edit: Using mouse scroll breaks the layout until I use the d-pad again. Also, an auto-sort option for apps in a category would be useful.

This UI works very well with H96 max android box. After so much of struggles installed this app. Its working very fast and connectivity is also very good. I recommend this app for who is experiencing slow responses with Android boxes

The only thing this app seems to be missing is a start from "all apps" screen or boot into "all apps" or just an "all apps" section only no need for anything else other than settings/halauncher settings/os settings. I hope that made sense

Best Android TV Launcher. Gives great options to add and customize apps including side loaded apps. Installed on Kodak Android TV. Works flawlessly as default launcher. It's possible to show SSID and IP Address on Home page. Not sure how to add WiFi Icon and USB icons. Any help?

Ideal for the few apps that are different in TV mode. Itself is a little complex.

Needs some feature like an option to hide certain apps in the 'show all apps'. Besides that, the widgets should can be resize as we want.

great replacement launcher for my x96 air box. now it looks and functions like my 55inch Sony android TV. if your default launcher looks like manure grab this. makes unofficial android devices look like a real Android TV OS is installed.

So much better than the default launcher on the Nvidia shield this by far is the best launcher that I found with no advertisement garbage popping up every minute or so it just works and has a lot of customization which is also really nice

Love it! Best launncher for ATV. It's like Nova for ATV. All I'm missing is option to add widgetts. Something like atv launcher bby DStudio Canada {or something like that} has.

App icons are lost upon update. It would also be nice to add to the settings category or allow removal.

Amazing, with some tweaking and tinkering, this can easily be your go to console style launcher for tablets and android tv devices.

Great alternative to the google ads launcher. If you want to make HALauncher the default launcher on your Android TV then you need to disable the launcher from google using adb once you install HALauncher. You can do it with: pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.tvlauncher

The only app that transfers apk and directly installs on my android TV. The Launcher itself is customisable and looks good.
