Handcent Next SMS

This app has great features but I wouldn't receive the messages of some of my contacts. Now since the update I can't receive anything from any of my contacts. ***UPDATE*** Very good customer service, they helped debugging quickly and now it works great. If you're using an Asus phone, don't forget to allow the app manually in the auto start manager.

I have been using Handcent Next SMS for several years. It is the best SMS app I have used. It is configurable to suit most any need. I have only had one problem (Android Auto reading messages) where I had to reach out to technical support. The repsonse was quick (within a few hours) and the issue was resolved. I have recommended this app to several people and they were all impressed with the app. I have a subscription, so I do not receive ads in the app.

The troubleshooting via email with handcent has been responsive. There had been a few issues, the biggest one when the app disappeared and freaked me out! But I got a response so that was reassuring. Thx! Another issue took a while to resolve but they kept on it until it finally did . Customization on this app seems pretty good... There's lots of options. I've been using for over a year now. Because the support has been good, I'm going to stick with it. I recommend anyone to give it a try!

I've been used Handcent since my first smartphone back in 2010. Besides some hiccups along the way. We're talking 3 or 4 since 2010. At least on the 6 phones I've had to date. A quick message to them and an instead fix is sent! I've been given a few tips on quick fixes. These normally fix most problems on their own! By far, one of the greatest apps available on Android! The customization is out of this world. Going through the settings gives one the sense of developing your own app!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder! You don't know what you've got until you lose it. Glad you're back! I've used this app for at least 10 years. The main attraction for me was the vast amount of UI customisation options, especially in the days before dark mode. Also the full screen pop out is handy for long texts. And the scheduled / delayed send feature is useful. I wish I could use this app to send and receive messages from other poorly designed messaging apps like WhatsApp, etc.

Handcent has come a long way. I've been using it for years now. They continue to add new features that alot of other texting apps don't provide. Update : Reported a problem to the company via the built in form. In about 24 hours they assessed the issue and pushed an update out which completely resolved the problem. Never had turn around that quick before. I stand being my original statement in that I think it's the best option out there.

I love this app. It's highly customizable, easy to use and works great on my phone. I recently had an issue with how my contact list was showing up. The developers fixed the bug and had an update for it the same day I emailed them about the issue. Please email the developers if you have any issues instead of leaving a negative review. They are very responsive. Awesome app with excellent customer service/developers. I'm very happy.

I've been using Handcent for several years on multiple devices to replace the stock Verizon messages app. I just wanted a simple no frills black and white screen and have been able to get that using it. This morning I, like many others, noticed my conversation last had suddenly turned lime green. I asked support for help and got a response and an update to fix it within minutes. Great app, great service.

This is my favorite app for texting. It has lots of features other apps don't have. Is easier to use. For example you can mark texts as unread, it's easier to find the buttons to add pictures, it pops up when you receive a text and you can answer with shortcuts instead of manually typing in response every time, it looks better and it's easier to read and it has more cool looking emojis. My phone lost Handcent for awhile and I really missed it. My wife and I couldn't wait until we got it back.

This is the best SMS app I've found. Highly customizable notifications, interface, and auto replies. It's dual SIM compatible, although may take up to an hour to fully optimize and recognize dual SIMs, and tech support is quick to reply to emails. I've tried Messenger+, Chomp, Textra, Pulse, and Next. Out all of those, Handcent Next SMS was the only one that allowed high customization, auto-reply features, dual SIM management, and scheduled/delayed messages. The best part is that it's free.

I like using this app a WHOLE lot more then the default messaging app that came with this phone. this app is easy to use and there's also a LOT of different skins that you can download as well (the skins are FREE to download). I was able to fix the issue that I was having. EDIT: the other issue that I was having was in fact 100% fixed, since I did enable the wrong setting (I made sure to turn it off). 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fixed photo-sending glitch: Samsung Galaxy S8! My S8's normal messaging app failed to send pics whenever I included any text messaging or comments along with the photo(s). I've tried many messaging apps. By far, Handcent is my favorite! They also answer all emails should you have an issue. Recently, my usual recipients did not appear in the list from which to choose. Handcent replied to my email almost immediately & provided me with a solution which fixed the problem. Highly recommend!!

I have used this text messaging app for years and loved it. However, in the last month, it stopped using any of the notification chimes. I cannot use this texting app if it doesn't tell me that I have a new text. No matter what notification chime I select, it does not ring. It does not matter if it is a custom notification or default. Very disappointed now.

I think the last update messed up my conversion inbox, the background on all my contacts was a horrible bright green. Edit : They fixed that in the last update. It is fine now. Great support!! Been having on/off issues sending text attachments for a while now as well. Normal text app works when this acts up. I really love this app though, it really is the best SMS app.

Fantastic support better than any app I've owned. They get right back to you to explain the questions you have in email and they have no attitude. I was stuck trying to understand how to see more than 4 lines of text when they explained that when writing or viewing their 10 lines of text capability that all I had to do was touch the up arrow above the texting area. They answered many other questions that I had too

I used this app for years. Every now and then after a update it will get a little wonky. This happened with the previous update. Yesterday morning my conversation list screen was a God Awful bright Green. This only happened when using any Theme. I sent an email to Handcent's help folks and they sent me a apk to try to fix the issue. It didn't work and the only way to not have to look green was to remove the theme and just use the generic interface. So I figured I would be stuck with that until the next update. I get up this am and I hacve a email for "Candy" letting me know that they developers had fix the issue and to go to the Playstore and get the update. Everything is working great again. I was impressed that they had sent me an email to let me know of the update, to me that shows they care about their user base.

I've used Handcent since probably 2010 and no matter what carrier I have or the phone I have I cannot go without this app. It allows me to customize everything, from notification sounds for different people, colors, pics, and the thing I love most is I can make the text font larger so I do not need to keep putting on my glasses to read my texts, as you get older you really appreciate this!

been using it for about 24 hours and so far not so good. too many options and they don't all work together. I can make the notification bubbles one size but then my font is just a mess. each time I try to send a message it has to think about it for like a full minute before it will send it. I do not have the delay setting turned on. it's nice to have options but on this app it's a bit tedious and makes it bulky and cluttered imo

I have had this app for many many years now. It's the first thing that is downloaded on to any new phone I get. I love being able to change EVERYTHING. I love making sure that each person I love and adore have their own notifications sound, icon, background, text colors and everything else you can dream of. I get a lot of questions about how I am able to do that. Just recently, there was a hiccup with the app. I tried to fix it on my own thinking I accidentally changed something. I finally reached out to the developers and had a response and a fix in less than 5 minutes. I am completely pleased with this app and I plan on using it for many more years!!

No other 3rd party text message app that I know of has the pop-up window function that this app does. It's super convenient to instantly see a new mesaage on your phone, and also instantly reply back. There are so many other awesome features in this app that you don't get use of with your stock text message app. This has been one of the first apps I've installed on all of my new Android phones for a long time.

I have been using this app ever since I switched to a smartphone many years ago and am happy to see you're back. My main reason for using this app is such a minor one - the option to leave the carrier date stamp on text messages, so I could tell when a text was actually sent. However, suddenly having had to use a different texting app, I realised how much I'd come to value this app as a whole!

I've been using, Handcent Next SMS for nearly 10 years. It is hands-down the best texting app I've come across. Very user-friendly, with many options to personalize your texting experience. There are many themes and backgrounds to choose from. Great customer service as well.

I've been using them for years. I've recently run into a few issues with the app. I contacted customer service and had replies back within a few hours. Hours that's right hours. Not days or weeks, hours! The issues I've brought to their attention were resolved quickly. I highly recommend them, it's nice knowing if you have an issue they will acknowledge the issue and correct it in a timely manor.

I have been using Handcent for 4 years and I am extremely happy with it. When this app was suddenly disappeared from my phone, because of issues with Google, i began searching for its replacement. I literally tried all top ones but nothing come close to Handcent interms of features and ease of use. Very happy it is back to Google app library. I would be happy to try if the developers have a app that allow texting on desktops via browsers

After I only gave 2 star's due to the annoying ads allover the screen, Handcent replied me how to get rid of the ads with a payed version. I loved the app, but suddenly the ads started to appear. Now without the ads I love it again. You get happy when the screen looks nice and a lot of settings can be customised.

Thank you for bringing this back. I have used Next/Handcent for so many years and could not find anything comparable when it was removed from the play store. I didn't know how much i loved this app until it was no longer available. So many features and customizations that other texting apps just don't have all on one. Thanks Google for bringing this one back!!

I've been using this app for over 5 years. Stable, works well, very customizable, and the developers are very responsive. Twice I've had minor issues probably caused by Android updates and the Devs responded to my emails and worked with me to identify and correct the problem. Even sending me Beta updates to test. I'm pretty sure the problem Frank Rubino complained about will be fixed in the next release. It's the same thing they just fixed for me with a Beta.

I loved this app! Did everything I wanted it to do! I was able to keep certain contacts at the top of my list in the order I wanted them to be in. Since I have updated I have the option to keep my contacts on top of the list but every time I'm contacted through them they end up moving at the top of the list which is not the way it was before and it's quite frustrating because now I have to search for them put things back the way they were! Why did that have to change? Quite frustrated!

I have been using this app for many years. It is the best messaging app that i have used compared to other apps. Their customer service is stellar in which they respond in a timely manner and problem solves without hesitation.
