Wonderful ASL learning tool! Other similar apps will only have a 2D display of the hand and displaying the motions required for words/letters are difficult to understand. But, Hands On ASL has great high definition 3D model and the motions included all displayed smoothly and flawlessly. Learning came easily with quizzing and the ability of unlocking new content. 5-stars!
This app helped me learn ASL fingerspelling! I paid for the upgrade, and to remove the adds. The upgrade, has tests that spell out 2 letter words, to 5 letter words. The problem. Is the longer word tests also increase in speed. The 5 letter words are way to fast for someone who is just starting. Thus the 3 stars. I am limited to practicing 1, 2 and 3 letters at a time. Developers need to add the ability to change the speed. That way users could slow down the 5 letter words and learn.
Great learning tool! Between learning ABCs and learning the ASL signs for words, there is a gap of resources to practice finger spelling receptivity. This app rises to the occasion, making it easy and accessible to practice on the go! The ads were a little annoying, (pretty typical for a free app) but I paid to get rid of them and it was definitely worth it. Love this app!
loved what was shown...fingerspelling quiz. however after each session an ad came up which i understand but there does not seem to be anyway to progress past the ad except to close and reopen app. could not find any of the other listed quizes. sad cuz it does look like a worthy practice tool.
This app is simple and easy to use, and the graphics are great. I work for the fire department and have been wanting to learn sign language to help communicate with deaf patients. I have already learned enough from this app to use on the emergency scene! Thank you for providing such a great tool! I cant wait to see what new features are coming in the future! Great tool to help identify letters in ASL, but it doesn't actually fingerspell any words. You get a random word and have to identify it as fast as you can in the game. Still helps with letter identification though, so it is still a great tool!
Too many ads to make usable...it's too time consuming. Getting through the alphabet test took way too long and I know some sign language already so that was disappointing.
Definitely educational for me and my 2 year old son. He loves it and its a great way to communicate with him and a skill he will carry forever. It helps you practice and comes with a mini game like quiz.

This is the simplest way to learn sign language. I highly recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn asl. I have a niece who is deaf and this has helped enable me hold conversation with her. I am excited to start using this app.
Ads take control of your phone and the standard Android options for home screen and "back" are disabled. Uninstalled this app.
I like that I can set my own pace to learn, but it keeps you challenged enough to want to move to the next learning stage

Great easy to learn
I got this to help improve my rate of reading finger spelling. I quickly scored above the target score for the 'review' but haven't quite hit the target on the 'easy' level yet. I can't imagine how brutal the other levels are (it goes up to Extreme...lol). I paid to remove the ads and to unlock the tests. I don't really get the point of unlocking the skins... I would like to see more variable lengths in the words for tests (only two-letter combinations for 'easy' mode), but otherwise it's ok.
