Dates given to you are flimsy and change constantly without authorization. There's no assistance if an error occurs only a simple submit with no follow up or confirmation that anything was done. I paid $138 for a maid service that never showed up and instead of giving me my money back I received a $114 credit to my account. Definitely search elsewhere when looking for these types of services, Handy is not the place to go.
Easy to use app and well designed app, but our pro was 3+ hours late, ended up having to come back, missed his return date and time twice, and was unable to fix our issue and referred us to another contractor. Hundreds down the drain for a 15 minute diagnostic and customer service offered us less than a quarter of what we paid back as a credit for a future services. Why would we keep paying them for something we never received? Do not recommend. Edit: Don't trust their review replies
I had a appointment for a "professional" to come out and assemble a patio furniture set. I received messages confirming date/time. At the time of the appointment, no one showed up! I reached out to the "professional" assigned to due the work with no success. I left several messages and didn't receive a call back. I reached out to customer service and was told I would be rescheduled for another day. Unfortunately, the reschedule date is too late! I decided to assemble myself
Hands down one of the worst experiences I have ever experienced. Multiple "pros" have cancelled last minute and then customer support appears to be almost completely automated with canned and copied responses that don't answer questions. Stay far away from this app and its "services".
Hello, I signed up for your services. And was unavailable for one scheduled afternoon. Well trying to cancel that ONE cleaning, the app cancelled my subscription, and charged me x4 $150... Emptying my account, leaving me with no way to pay my bills this month. I'm disabled. I just wanted help cleaning my house, and now I find there is No way to call or contact a person directly in regards to this issue. My bank won't fix it. I just want my money, or my house cleaned. I saw responses!! Help!!
Sigh. It's really out of habit at this point that I stay with this company. The Pros are good but sometimes you don't always get what you paid for. The app itself needs a lot of work. For example. Pros should be able to view client preferences before they accept an appointment.
I had 2 garage door openers installed and specially told them to use the same wire from the old unit. They cut those old wires and ran new wires which looks horrible. Plus the wires are dangling down and not safe. I dont think these guys are perfectionists. First time using Handy from Lowes. Won't use again. Do not use Square Foote Construction. He's very non professional and not recommended.
Stay away from this app/company! I was referreed to them by google nest. They are horrible. You get the wrong info sent to you. They take your money, but no one shows up for service, even though they say they showed up. Customer service is only through email. I sent an urgent request. Said response time is 15 minutes. They never responded until the next day. Worst app and company ever. Google should not be recommending them at all. Ever.
I booked a pro and the site said they had availability. No one was ever assigned to the job and then finally at my appointment time it was "rescheduled." I canceled since the new time didn't work and they credited my account instead of giving me a refund. What a waste of time, no thanks.
We ordered a Samsung frame from Samsung website and chose the professional install. The TV came with missing parts and we returned it. Now I'm not able to cancel the installation appointment!!! There is no contact info to reach out to them.
Total SCAM. They charge clients double the amount paid to the pro, which explains the quality of pros still willing to work for them. They actively steal pay from pros, claiming no shows, or various other lies. There's no customer service. I've been charged fees on top of having my pay stolen, Even with proof you can not get the fees reversed. I was told in email that the fees were REVERSED, I worked a $190 job for 9 hours and was paid $0. No recourse what so ever.
I was stressed out about assembling my new bed with drawers from Overstock and tried to hire a local from Nextdoor app and that turned into a disaster before it began. Handy was reasonably priced, promt, professional, and turned out to be a local guy who did a great job and did it in two hours! I would recommend this service.
The cleaning services are VERY unreliable. DO NOT GET THE SUBSCRIPTION FOR THE DISCOUNTED PRICE ITS NOT WORTH IT FOR THE HEADACHES. I've had multiple bookings where the assigned pro canceled at the last minute and one time it was literally cancelled one minute before the scheduled time. Customer service says sorry, here's $10 off your next booking or it happens we can't do anything. Even though they've failed to uphold their side of the contract, I cannot cancel the subscription without penalty.
Booked through the place I bought my item from. Booked twice days taken off and cancelled on the day. Would give if 0 stars if I could. Don't bother! Unreliable probably take money with no intention of completing work. Please refund me.
Pro canceled 2 hours before my appointment. Although they tried to reschedule the price increased by more than $20 from what I had already paid. Unprofessional, unacceptable and a waste of my time. Instead, I carried a 88lb chair up 2 flight of stairs and had to assemble by myself. I'm 55 so it was not an easy task. Never using this app again! Would give zero stars if I could.
I've been using Handy for a few years now and the professionals are hit or miss. The quality seems to be going downhill, I used to love coming home to my place feeling that it was noticeably clean, but I've changed professionals a few times now because no one is doing a good job. Counter tops look untouched and floors visibly unclean. No idea what they're doing for 3 hours. The app is well designed, but there's a bug - I get texts saying to check the app for unread messages but I can't see them
Not an open scam but it is. When you first select your plan, it feels like going for a yearly plan would just save you money because each service is relatively cheap. But once you do that, there's no going back except if you're ready to pay $99! I felt trapped. I agree they must've specified this condition somewhere but it was not too obvious when I first created my plan. Also, rescheduling is useless. It keeps asking me to select a different time. Very unhappy.
Unreliable at best. After a rocky start with a one-time cleaning that was charged 2x and rescheduled by Handy at the last minute...I can honestly say this service is lackluster. Both the app, communication channels with cleaners, and the cleaning service itself leaves much to be desired. I am constantly being cancelled on, rescheduled, no-shows gallore. I will, without a shadow of a doubt, not renew my subscription once it expires. I cannot wait to find a reliable cleaning service.
Poorly designed app and poor service. I've tried to get my house cleaned four times without success. Twice Handy has canceled at the last minute, once the cleaner never showed up, and one time the cleaner came and left without cleaning. I emailed customer service (there's no phone number) and they offered me a $20 coupon. Since this is a review of the app, it's worth noting the poorly designed messaging functionality. It's the only way you can communicate with your cleaners.
I wish I could give it less then a one star review. If you cancel a cleaning they charge you the cost of the cleaning. The kicker is though you can't use that credit towards your next scheduled cleaning you must schedule a one time cleaning. But in order to do that you need to cancel your scheduled cleaning which just adds more credits to your account. You can try to reschedule your appointment but every time I have tried Handy ignores my times and books it for 2-3 hours before I scheduled it. Causing me to miss an appointment or two and I get to pay for it thanks to Handy's incompetency. Handy is terrible at reminding you of upcoming services. Some times I didn't even receive a notification of an upcoming appointment. Their 'pros' are not very good. I've only been happy with one that I have gotten. The rest either show up late or only stay for an hour. Overall extremely less then enthused with their service.
When the pros show up this app is so amazing! When they don't you get charged anyway. The app sometimes automatically reschedules your appointment for a random time without consulting you at all. The pros sometimes can't figure out where I live. The pros sometimes randomly don't show up. I love the idea. I really want this to work.
Handy is a hit or miss service. Customer service is great and they'll help out however they can. It took forever to get matched with a professional and the pro did a so-so job. If you plan on having monthly or weekly services and you're okay rescheduling and having people cancel on you it can definitely be good. Important thing to remember is that if you cancel a plan before completion it is a 99$ cancellation fee.
Service is hit or miss. Sometimes the pros are good, and most times not so much. Also the way they bill you is very suspicious. After your term is over with, ie 6 months, they automatically keep you in without your knowledge. For this time, they only notify you of the booking the day of, so If you cancel the service then, they charge the full amount as a cancellation fee. Really shady business practices. I would not recommend them to anyone.
the app itself works fine, but dont sign up unless you realize you will be locked into an annoying contract. I hate Handy because I booked not realizing (and trust me, it's not obvious) I would be locked into a contract. Now I'm forced to try to keep up with rescheduling every single booking. Also the reminders for bookings never come in on time, but if you reschedule a booking when there is less than 24 hours for your booking, you are forced to pay a $15 fee. I would not recommend this service.
The service this app provides is pretty poor to say the least. We signed up for a three month trial, have made three bookings so far, the first of which they turned up late and left early without finishing, the second was great and exactly what you expect to pay for and the third just didn't show up or reply to our messages so we were left without a cleaner or any communication to tell us. It would be so great if it was a service you could rely on to provide good service each time you use it.
They will offer you a convenient subscription for i.e. cleaning, with the ability to choose the cleaning person. Once you've subscribed, they will change the person you have selected to some random person without notifying you. You can select someone else again, but they will change your selection without notifying you. You can play this game every day for weeks. If you want out of this game because there is no way to get anyone but their random selection, they will promptly charge you $99 irrev
For the past 4 bookings, I tried to book reliable cleaners, but everytime my appointment gets rebooked with someone new, even when the provider had their calendar open and accepted the booking. There is no notification when the person changes so it always comes as a surprise. The quality of the cleaning is also very uneven because everytime its a new person. I'm only continuing because I'm locked in for a year by a promo, but will definitely be switching after.
Have been a customer for about 2 years. The experience has been a roller coaster. When the Pro actually shows up, the experience is typically good. The problem lies with the inconsistency with pros showing up and the horrid customer service experience. Multiple no shows. Customer service is unreachable via phone and have to deal with issues via email. Reps are always apologetic, but just do the same "fix" by giving a small discount for NEXT booking which keeps you invested. Terrible experience.
Handy is not reliable, do not use them. I booked an order for one person to come and help me move some stuff. That person cancelled at the last moment and I had already invested money in a truck and committed to people that I was buying from. I had to reach out elsewhere and find someone else for much more. I wouldn't know if Handy has good service or not. But they certainly are not reliable and you cannot trust them to make their appointments. You're probably better off using Craigslist.
