The best RSS Offline news reader. Using it since 2 years and it has never failed me. Best feature is the manipulation of the html filter to get a perfect output of the scraped pages.
Tried this after trying pretty much all the open source, no ad alternatives (and also pluma, inoreader, plenary apps). It works beautifully fetching full text properly from all sites. The customisation options are some of the best with both font and colour schemes open to tweaking. These enable me to truly craft this app for my reading and to love every minute spent reading. There are no useless, elaborate options which take away from reading experience. All in all, highly recommend!
Love the app for allowing to create notifications for news via RSS, especially those who want to catch it at the first minute or so. However, making it showing pop-up and sound notifications will occassionally show a "Refreshing feed" or something similar notification that will lead to notifications being made without any news. Would be nice if the notification feature to be tweaked a bit better, at least doesn't create notification until there's actual news.
Handy News Reader has been a Godsend after the shitshow that READ rss reader became. I hope its layout and functionality never change and that it does remain ad free. That said, I'd gladly spend five bucks or so for a paid version were it to be released with the same feature set. Its behavior is predictable, and does not download the full article and attachment by default, like some other RSS readers I've tried. Love this application.
I really like this app. It is simple enough, and the look of it reminds me of older apps, which is charming. Not everything has to have material design to look nice! This has two things I need, dark theme and the capability to make text larger. Read inside the app=dark articles! 😍Add Google News topics, or your own urls. Edit: TY on importing opml; will try. I missed that!
Perfect, it is fast at updates, the app works logically, it is very customisable, but also works out of the box. Importing/exporting is also seamless. The app does a very good job at handling news articles and is very user friendly.
Currently the best regular expression RSS Reader out there. A bit rough around the edges but is being regularly improved. Keep up the good work! * Edit: Rough around the edges = English phrase meaning not the prettiest/needs a bit of tidying up.
No way to load article icon thumbnails? I really wanted to like this RSS feed app. It seems to have the most settings of any free RSS feed app right now, however there doesn't seem to be any way to have an article image/icon show in the RSS feed list. I tried posting questions on how to fix it, no response. I tried pouring over all the settings, no luck. If there is some way to have icons show in the RSS feed list it's not clear how that's possible and so I won't be keeping this app.
Downloads thousands of pictures without any way to stop it! There was over 2,000 pictures downloaded from this app, as well as a thousand more thumbnails! Simply unacceptable and it needs fixed. Reading news stories doesn't mean I want pictures downloaded on my phone, just display the pictures, don't download them!
Everything works great and smoothly. Visually appealing. My favorite features are there: -- ability to download for offline use -- full-text retrieval -- manual update (I prefer it) Thanks!
Dear Sir thanks for adding save/restore feature in this app. This feature is very much important above all. In your next update pls add a feature so that i can delete all the read articles from "All Article" tab of your app. Point to be noted that "delete all" option present in your app does not working which is currently provided in "All article" tab.
nice concept, and I like the download feature. but it crashes constantly on my pixelbook. cannot see more than two articles before it crashes again
Had a number of bugs. But the worst part is that the article text is not displayed properly. Duplicated pictures and text.
Nice app although I would like more features; I mailed the developer, he's very helpful and really helpful replies quickly. Regularly updated so I'm looking forward to its development!
Very handy indeed. Although the app's icons are not beautiful at all, HNR is a very good offline feed reader.
I love this app. But upon every refresh the app loads old news feeds. Please add an option to limit feed download for a particular time period.
Super but, I am using handy news reader, rss feed refresh only 20 articles display, but feed articles more than 43, please say the solution, how 1 refresh get all articles display
Very good! Just to add an option change the fonts.
Dear Sir, no update since long time. Pls bring new updates with new features to this wonderful piece of software...thnx
Please add tags on the buttons so screen reader users can get what each button will do like settings or add to favorites
No "mark read until here", no volume buttons in list
Feed List are not working smoothly.
Great to read news without internet
The perfect news reader!!!
Love you folks! Long live RSS!
almost the best rss reader. only need is auto mark article is read by scoll to next article edit: since it already have filter function,. could you add auto alert feature when fetched some key words articles. ie., I can get alert when a deal comes thank you very much for this great app the filter only has 3 options, accept, reject and star. but I don't want every time I star an item get an alert --- thank you very much. I have thousands news every day, click one by one to mark read is too hard.
It's good but I cannot read text on Black background on widget. Please fix for a more stars and a better review... Thanks.
UPDATE: Upgrading to 0.17.1 did not resolve issues. (Thank you for the "load full article" tip - it worked) ORIGINAL: Nice fork of Flym. However, article icons do not appear in Article List until after I interact with an article. Additionally, Tap Zones in Article List remain in place when disabled. HNR 0.16.20+, Android 9.0
