hangTag

hangTag is a smartphone app that makes parking easy.
hangTag users can see a map of supported parking locations, and compare the locations’ rates and amenities. After selecting a location, users enter how long they wish to park, and press “Buy” to pay for a parking session. Users will receive an alert when their session is about to expire. If they need to extend the length of time of their parking session, they can add more time via the app and press “Extend” from wherever they are.

Not a great app or experience: clunky, adding credit cards isnt easy, generates tonnes of useless emails when you use the app. Worst: there's no cancel - if you park, pay, and then immediatly try to cancel (eg. The store you want is closed) you can't. City of Calgary Park Plus lets you only pay for what you use, hangTag is a rip off. The only reason I gave it 2 stars: you can do an "extend" at the end and get a few mins of free time. Otherwise: avoid the app and the lots.

Clunky app. Fails to properly identify when a card has been added. Tells me that parking costs will be higher because there is an event happening during the time selected, even though there is no event. Only reason I'm even trying to use the app is because the machines at the lot don't read credit cards consistently.

Works almost too well- thought I'd have the opportunity to put in my new license plate number before paying but it went ahead with my older license number (previously saved in the app). I called/emailed them but received a ticket because I had the wrong plate number. After a week, customer service got back to me and were very quick and helpful in rescinding the ticket, but I'd appreciate an additional confirm/finalize button in the app before it charges me for the parking session.

App comes up with "Cannot email history, try again later" so I can't get anything to submit my parking to my employer. Contacted customer service (which was pleasant) but gave the answer of "that's never happened before, I will get IT to look into it". No follow up from IT. No account access online to do it through PC either. What is the service fee for exactly? Might as well just hide it in the parking price.

You are forced to use this app in edmonton if you want to park and not get a ticket. It sends you spam texts. Limited number and email changes. Charges you EVERY TIME you use it. This is absolute filth, when it's the only way to pay for parking in a city. Basically entrapment and extortion on a user.

The convenience of this app is good. I do not have a credit card, and no lots take cash anymore, so this app makes me able to park in downtown is a Visa debit. This app would be much better if you could favourite a parking lot. It runs quite slowly when you change the length of time you'll be parking. Without location being on, it is difficult to find the proper lot, so you have to be willing to use location services or else you'll be stuck scrolling from Vancouver to your actual location.

Used to be okay, but they recently added a convenience fee to use the app and the connection is very bad. I can't connect to the app on wifi to extend parking or pay. When I scroll down to enter the amount of time I want and it defaults back to 1 hour. Today I had to pay twice (and was charged for prime time parking) because I didn't notice it switched my time back to an hour. Please fix these bugs! I use this app almost every day, it's become incredibly frustrating and costly!

No ability to change plate numbers when you've made a mistake. Needing username, password and verification code on every login is a pain. why bother with passwords if you need verification? this process needs to be streamlined. The fact that i have to click "sign up" to get to a page with a link to existing login is an annoying design choice. sometimes expiry notifications don't happen. It's frequently unclear which lot to choose when there are several that are close together. Annoying.

The app keeps glitching and getting stuck on a loading screen so I think that payment hasn't gone through. I click on the active sessions tab and it says none, so I then go pay at the station, only to later see a charge on my credit card from the app!! This has now happened 3 times. Besides the other times in the past where it DIDNT go through and then I got parking tickets.

Every few uses recently, I recieve an error that the parkng fee can't be calculated -"Try again later". Very frustrating as I have to leave the lot for cell reception. Seems to be an issue specific to the lot I use as it will let me pay for parking at another lot. When it works it is great though. The customer support line were very nice but unable to provide a fix other than putting a note in my file.

This works for parking, so it's ok. 2 features would make it great. 1) Adding psuedonyms for cars. My wife and I share 2 cars and I haven't memorized which plate is on which vehicle. 2) a button on startup that lets you order the same lot , same amount of time and same vehicle as your last transaction. To be reviewed on a form before confirming. Otherwise it's pretty good.

Not the best, not the worst. It would be nice if when you have an expired credit card it warns you before you enter your parking details or allows you to update the card from the payment step. Additionally, when I added an updated card, it tried to charge the old card again and didn't give me the option to select the other one. So I had to go back to my account page, delete the old card, and then enter my parking details for the 3rd time for it finally work.

App works good for simple paying for parking. But if you have multiple cars on file and accidentally enter and pay for the wrong one in one of their lots you cannot correct it and switch to the proper car even if you are willing to pay for a whole new time. Once its entered your screwed. Tried calling customer service and they said once you pay you can't even cancel that session and start new regardless if you are willing to pay for additional new time. If they could allow you to make multiple purchases and cancel cureent sessions so you could correct then the app would have 5 stars. I dont even care if i lost the $11 for me entering the wrong car. Just allow us to pay again and enter the proper car.

Little hard to add on time when i was at the hospital in the middle of the night waiting in emergency, very awkward. Tried to cancel and change time and I have lots of data but it would not let me. Also will not let me choose in increments of 15 or 30 minutes. Also, will not let you put in the exact lot number you have to choose from a map with ten other lots around it and hope you pick the right one, none of them show the lot number either. Customer service was good though!

Amazing customer service. Used the GPS instead of looking at the lot addresses and paid for parking in the wrong lot. A quick phone call and an email and they were able to have the parking ticket removed and were very helpful and pleasant to deal with ( each person i dealt with). I highly recommend this app. Prices are fair and competitive.

This app makes paying for parking super easy. It locates where I am so with a push of a button I can pay. It is so much faster than waiting in line in the parking lot!!! It is easy to add a vehicle to the account if I am driving a different car. Love it. 4 stars because it sometimes doesn't work (2 out of 40 times) and doesn't load.

Just terrible. The locations rarely populate accurately. It's slow. It's a pain in the ass to start a new session when you're not standing at your lot but you need to add more time. The app crashes often when you're trying to extend an active session. Ive been burned twice now that I've tried to start a 2-3 hr session, it freezes, then i come back to a confirmation for 1 hr. Too bad for me i didn't notice and got ticketed. I went from having 0 tickets /year using PayByPhone to > 3. Hang tag sux.

Notification Failure - fixed so far - I am a service technician so I often don't know how long I'll be parking. That means notifications to renew parking are great - but ONLY if they work. Today Hang Tag didn't notify me, twice in one day. And yes, I checked if notifications were enabled for the app. Thankfully no ticket, else this free app would have cost me $160 in one day. Edit - update may fix this issue. Still setting my own alarms.

Complete and utter garbage. Unable to use CIBC or BMO interac cards, making the usability of this app significantly less than the pay machines in the parking lots. The pay machines ALSO only take credit cards, but some of them also take coins which is still more useful. To reiterate: this app has no use. It's just a space filler without any benefit.

For the most part this parking app is pretty good. Our work recently switched over to app-based license plate parking. I will say there are some days where I'll load, the app, go to pay for parking, and it just never loads the price to pay. I have to restart my phone in order for the app to function properly. Thankfully this only occurs a couple times a month, but still something that shouldn't happen at all given this is the only parking app I've had this problem with.

Not a very good parking app. It gets the job done but it's easy to accidently click the wrong parking lot when there are multiple lots on the same block, even when the one you want is displayed on top. And unless you know the exact address where you're parking the lot names are not obvious. It's also too easy to park for the wrong vehicle and the customer service agents are surly when you make mistakes.

Does not allow two devices to log in with the same account at the same time so me and my wife can't both share an account. When trying to activate a second device the confirmation text message never comes through. $0.35 convenience fee per parking session just to be able to use the app. Recent lots never populates so you need to search lots every time you park. Way to completely botch a good idea by poor execution and nickle and diming your customers.

The app has several bugs, such as problems with looking up the location by number, and also when selecting less than 1 hour sometimes the get rate does not work. Also, when the rate does work, it only shows a message about the service charges and does not show the quoted rate. This should work similar to PayByPhone when you can simply enter a location number, period desired, and see the cost to confirm. UX is somewhat poor compared to similar parking apps.

My credit card was charged $26 because of a bug in their app: Sutter brook location in Port Moody, BC has two levels of parking, street and underground. The latter is free. After I downloaded the app, I found the location and chose "underground". The quote came back as zero dollars which was correct but it refused to proceed without adding a credit card! (Why?!) I tapped "add card" and entered details. And it charged me as street level!

It works most of the time but sometimes has serious issues with network. I'm totally connected on data or wifi but it cannot get response to any request saying network error. Today i spent like an hour on trying to make it working with no luck, maybe more than an hour, so eventually i forgot to pay, and by the end of the day didn't get a ticket. So i left 3 stars for saving me $20

App is useful, but when two parking lots are next to each other and the locations are listed on top of each other, it doesn't necessarily choose the one that you see listed on the top. I got dinged for a ticket because of this. Thankfully the rep on the phone understood my situation. This is a huge issue!

Had an account from years ago, successfully logged in after was able to update mobile phone. This isn't the issue. Tried to then update credit card info and got errors about updating my cookies. Did this in browser and then was flashed a new error that could not read at all. So kept trying to re-enter the same credit card, it would never show up to be selected. Then looked at my email and received a number of emails that was successful. Had to completely shutdown the app to try to use.

The app is simple to use but the maps are poor in resolution so it is easy to pick the wrong parking lot. Furthermore to search it asks for lot name and lot number and not all lots have names inside the buildings. I just ran into this today and had to pay 2x - once for wrong lot then again for the correct lot once I figured it out.

I got this app because the parking lot at my work switched to be this system. When I parked at another lot, I paid at a kiosk because the app didn't have my credit card info. I tried adding my cc to the app later (to extend the time without returning to the lot) but it wouldn't accept my cc info. It also doesn't allow ppl to start the extended time later (app would have charged again for time already paid at the kiosk). I gave up & moved but found later that it charged for the time after I moved

It's okay. The machine at the lot where I park doesn't always work, but neither does the app. And if you have issues, trying to contact anyone is nearly impossible. Business hours are ridiculous.The app is more convenient, but needs improvements.
