App is actually wonderful, but I have noticed that I will always have a notice for a high battery when I start the car. Then, whenever I drive, it goes away. But now I put the device in my second car, and it does the same thing. I believe this is an app issue.
I had a similar device with a previous carrier, so I am familiar with the setup and what it's "supposed" to do. HOWEVER, after downloading the app I cannot get beyond the very basic email verification step. I have attempted numerous times with no email received to verify. And yes, I checked my spam/junk folder. So I attempted to call during normal business hours and after the pre-recorded message played, the call dropped. Well, ok then.
It's not bad. Constantly monitors for OBDC 2 codes while running (can get a little annoying sometimes if you are trying to resolve an issue on a test drive). My biggest gripe is that adding another vehicle isn't as intuitive as the developer thinks. Add a new vehicle takes you through the Spark pairing sequence instead of just adding a new vehicle profile.
This is the first app review I've ever written. Unfortunately, it seems I stand with the others who are unable to set up the device after several hours of phone calls today. I believe it to be an app issue, though no one can tell me for sure. My spark is confirmed activated through AT&T, the device status lights show that it is working correctly, and my phone even picks up wifi from the Spark. But when trying to set up the device from the app, I get nowhere. I can't connect to the Spark's wifi without a password, which I assume I should get once it is set up through the app. I guess I'll try again another day. I will update whether or not I am ever able to use it.
This app does not work with Android 9 Pie Edit: Originally Harman said it was an app problem. Turns out, the problems are with the Spark device itself. Have been working with support (L1,L2,&L3) for 3+ weeks and have uncovered issue after issue. Support has been responsive and friendly, but this product is appears to still be in Beta. Edit: Changing to 4 stars. Support was helpful in working thru numerous issues, but now that it's working the service is good. Your mileage may vary.
The last update gives me even more but wish it gave me the option to use my remote start since uconnect no longer gives me the options.
App works great for a couple days. Then it stops loading. Just shows the white screen with Harman Spark logo, wont do anything. have to uninstall and reinstall to get it working. have to do this every week, it's a joke. App is great, when it works. This needs to be fixed ASAP!!!! Apparently, others have the same issue and they dont respond or address the issue. STAY AWAY from the product and app until this is fixed!
Overall, the Spark is not ready for prime time. It works well for about a week. As other users have noted, the current version of the app is slow and hangs, so you have to force close it to navigate around. Since the product doesnt work well, I find myself toggling wifi frequently to get it to work.
UPDATE: Issue eventually resolvednitself and app/device work great! Accurate vehicle status reports and fast enough MiFi to stream YouTube on a laptop and 2 tablets without interruption. //Created an account with the app. Received verification email. Tried logging in. Receive 403: Forbidden error. Can't use until access is fixed and I can figure out what the Wi-Fi password is!!!
App works good, easy to setup. My only problem is that I can't share the location or know exactly where is the vehicle, the app just show you a map. The app uses google maps and it should be good to have satellite view and share location. Other than that no problem.
The wifi worked great until our van had to go into the shop. Mechanics had to unplug it to run the diagnostics. Since then it is great for tracking the vehicle, but the wifi doesnt work 99 percent of the time. We can be driving and it shuts off. Says to drive 15 feet....meanwhile we're traveling at 70 mph. 🤦 I'm not sure what we need to do to fix it.
Horrible app and horroble company. They read their trouble shooting by the book. Simple power on and off. It that doesnt work your SOL. I bought 3 devices 1 added fine the other 2 just kept saying adding (been 2 days). Thd app never changed menu. I called their tech line no help. They told me everything works fine (i see 1 car but have 3.....). They said they would transfer me to tech support level 2 then level 3..... no one helped. Got back down to level 2 for the guy on the line to have me re explain the issue. He theb huung up on me becausw i was tired of re explaining and have been on the phone for 4 hours for them to say theres no issue. Clearly this company doesnt care about their users and cares even less to fix any issues they have.
I like the app and the concept. The device does have lots of issues communicating correctly with a PlugIn Hybrid Electric Vehicle. It can't seem to sense that the car is still on when the gas engine is not running. The engine diagnostics leaves a lot to be desired.
All notifications pertaining to disturbances and vehicle possibly being towed are always incorrect and pop up frequently at least two or three times an hour. Wi-Fi does not work unless you are driving which makes no sense to me or any truck drivers who may be wanting Wi-Fi for watching netflix while parked, seriously how that feature made it through is beyond me, I mean why would it not just broadcast Wi-Fi constantly? Also the car "diagnostic" feature is a joke. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! TRASH!!!
My siblings and I are able to tracker our 88 year old mother that tends to take off for no reason. Unfortunately she has not been diagnosed with Dimentia but we feel she may have early onset of the diesese. We are able to setup boundaries and once she passes those set boundaries we are notified. Also the driving score is awesome. We can see exactly how her driving is. This tracker is fantastic! Highly recommend!
First impression is that this app is junk. Can't save a vehicle name. Can't change vehicle make and model. Can't change from yellow. Only shows "offline" but the wifi works. We'll see if it updates or something but.... Not looking good.
2015 Kia owner here, Great app if you purchase the device to go with which is completely worth it in my opinion. Great internet connection no matter where I am and so many cool features all without spending my life savings on a luxury car with all the features for a 1 time cost of $99 and a recurring cost of $40/month
When I first heard about the Spark device I couldn't wait to get one...I ordered it in store...they had none on hand...I knew more about the device than the employee at AT&T...it took 7plus days to get it..and actually the first day of setting it up was perfect!! everything went according to how it should of. I have a long daily commute and 5 kids...so i was impressed....a week later? not so impressed!!!! wifi hit or miss...no notifications seemed to work...and now the app won' open up at all!!
The new version has the dashboard on the screen along with the map. It really gets in the way. When I try to live the map or zoom it moves up and covers up map. I prefer it on a separate screen.
It does not work properly. It works for one day and stops. I need to unplug any plug the device. Back again. Now the app stopped working. It does not load to home page. It needs to be fixed...
I have had device for 6 weeks and the wifi works but app is froze even when I delete it and reinstall. They keep saying they are working on it. Nothing but issues and would not recommend if you have other options
Features are great but you can not turn off maintenance type notifications so your phone will alert every 2 minutes until you can fix the car. Had to delete the app.
This new update makes this application awesomely accurate. It has alot of features so far as it matures. I hope they continue to apply new features as technology evolves with our vehicles.
Horrible I'm an auto mechanic by trade and besides the fact you have to be enrolled in the thing I could not even get it to work.....listen people I know that paying a certified technician is costly and maintenance is as well but we go to school like a doctor...4 years in some cases....I'm not comparing myself to a doctor....but if he can't drive he can't save you ..find a good reliable technician...food and good manners go along way with us grease knees....I tried to find the spark ..not there
Had a little bit of problem changing the network name and password with my S10+, but was able to do it with another phone no problem. Other than that the app works beautifully.
It's a good app to have and nearly accurate with time and location, but..... after a few times of logging in the app seems to stop working.... whereas you are left on the main page of it saying Harman Spark. I'm quite sure you guys will take care of this bug or issue soon.
I've been using the app and the Spark for going on 4 years now. I love it. It tells me where my car is at all times. If the car is stolen you can tell the police right where it is. Great right.
It does its job. Customer service is hard to get in touch with. Overall a decent product. The Hum X from Verizon was a much better experience.
The worst piece of technology I've ever purchased! I would NEVER recommend this to anyone!! I can't explain how mad this electronic device has had me. Don't waste any amount of time with this thing!!!nor will I waste anymore time on this trashy piece of equipment
Overall good app. I would like to see some new features added for example over speed limit distance on the route map. Also a bigger map view of the route would be nice.
