There are 4 distinct driving tours to follow within this app.
1) Volcanoes National Park. Commentary takes you from resort areas in Kona and o the Kohala Coast to Volcanoes National Park, plus a comprehensive tour inside the park. All different commentary for the drive back to Kona.
2) Island Circle Route. Being an island, you will want to drive all the way around. Our Full Circle Tour follows a counter-clockwise circle around the island including Volcanoes, Hilo, Hamakua Coast, Waipio Valley, Waimea and back to the Kona side.
3) Kohala Coast. Recommended half day drive following the spectacular northern coast of the island including the historic sugar towns of Hawi and Kapaau, the superb views from above the Pololu Valley and then drive over the Kohala Mountains to Waimea cowboy town before returning to the coast.
4) Kona Coast. Another half day tour to see Kona's best beaches, the islands best snorkeling and many fascinating cultural and historically significant sites including Kealakekua Bay where Captain Cook visited Hawaii and was killed. Place of Refuge is one Hawaii's best restored cultural sites. There was an issue with double talking and an echo during commentary. I used the usb plus Bluetooth connection to the car. Finally figured out if I hit pause, one commentary paused and the other was a single voice. I mention this for others benefit that may have same issue. Once I got the single voice, this app is fantastic! Really enhanced my tour around Hawaii. I'll use this again for other destinations.
This app is AMAZING..!! It is like having a guide right with you in the car. Beautifully narrated. We learnt a lot about the Big Island and the people. The volcanoes and different terrains of the island. I would highly recommend the app if you are driving around the island. Loved it. This takes the trip to a whole new level. Ots fabulous..
This is an excellent, almost amazing app. The guide's voice is perfect, we learned interesting things, and of course if we didn't feel like being assisted we could just turn it off. I would highly recommend this and actually prefer this to all but the best in-person tour guides. Have used this one and the one for Oahu, which is also excellent.
A great way to tour the big island in your car. This app doesn't have the audio bugs that affected the Kawaii and Maui apps. You do have to accept that you follow the direction (anti clockwise) for most of the tours. The advice about Saddle Road is out of date. The road has been upgraded and this is the recommended way to cross the island especially is taking the VNP tour from the North West side. The introduction/overview should be made available whatever you start your first tour. Would be better to place this on the introduction screen. Each tour start marker should contain an audio overview of the tour that you can select from the driving screen regardless of where you are.
An excellent way to drive The Big Island. The guide gives you little bits of information as you travel, points out recommended stops and places of interest, and all in all makes travel far more interesting. Directions and turns are given in advance, but my only suggestion would be to improve the map so you can zoom in more. We've made good use of the guide and found it to me excellent value.
Got this app when we decided $140/per person cost for a guided tour was what we had to consider as the other option. This app turned out to be a great purchase, we got to do the same tour for a fraction of the cost and at our own pace. I will be purchasing others.
Made our trip better! Highly recommend with helpful tips for stops and detours and even learned a little along the way. Great way to see the island and pass the time during somewhat boring drives to Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. Will definitely buy for future trips!
Managed to fix the sound issue. It was almost certainly a connection issue with the rented vehicle. Awesome guided tour.
Great content, when it's working. Spent a lot of time rebooting. The App cuts out when we have Google maps or Waze running simutaneously.
Great narration. It's definitely worth the money. I learned a lot about the big island and it's history. The app took me to places that were fun to visit that I would have missed without it.

This was awesome!! We were able to see the island and learn about the history and sights we were driving by. We got plenty of notice if we wanted to stop.

A must have. This was the best money we spent in Hawaii. Super helpful. Works well. Amazingly informative. We used it on the big island, Oahu, and Maui. Well worth it.

Very good commentaries. In my Android, every time the clip started, the voice started 5 seconds after. If I wanted to take video with my phone camera, it will stopped the clip being played. I wish it had a way to search for local restaurants and shops. Also, I would love to be able to browse the map left to right and play clips. In only let's you zoom in and out.
