This is some comically bad 1990s-level technology. 95% of the time it doesn't work -- press a button on the interface, and it tries to send the command to my pool's Pro Logic panel, but it doesn't take. And when it does work, the latency is hideous. It's so bad that I purchased a Jandy pump, with plans to change to an all-Jandy system down the line. At least the Jandy app has good reviews.
This app was okay. It never really worked great, usually sluggish for input commands. After syncing the time to the exact time, the response time was much quicker. As of 2022, the app shows 'Null' everywhere on the user interface. Luckily I remember which buttons are for filter, light, etc. Buttons still work upon pressing them, but it does take awhile to respond yet again. Also, sometimes the app won't even open, just gives an error and you have to clear cache & Force close to work. Plz fix
Considering I actually paid for this app, it is horrible and the worse part of it is that Hayward don't care and have made absolutely no effort at coming up with a fix or improving it (I've contacted them multiple times). We've tried both Apple and Android, app either crashes right away or is unresponsive. Either way, it NEVER works.
You spend nearly 100k to put in a pool... They say they have an app and THIS is what you get.. This app is an unmitigated disaster. Sometime the buttons work, sometimes no, it says the spa is 100 degrees all the time, the menu screen regarding temp settings doesn't even have the temp setting in it, just filter status... and the list goes on. I'm warning my friend who is putting in a pool to avoid this brand. I'm not sure how they can fix this, but if they do, I'll happily update my rating.
Abysmal. With quality of pump, salt system, heater, I would have expected a better, more usable app. Massive lag, inconsistent log in, spa turns on, then off , and you have to keep on top of it. Only feature that works well is the in pool light . System installed in 2020, and even the installer tried to talk me out of app and go for hand held remote. I figured he was exaggerating. I was , sadly, wrong
Updated:: Aqua support was superb. They even got technical support to follow up with me. The issue that I was having was that the app kept disappearing right after I clicked login. This is due to not having a pool equipment setup or the automation system not being setup with the wireless antenna and aquaconnect router. After I got my equipment setup everything started working.
EXTREMELY slow to respond... Almost like it doesn't get the input until much later where it will finally do what its being prompted to do. Very frustrating.. I don't recommend but at the same time, its nice being able to do things with your phone as long as you wait the appropriate time. There's got to be something that can be done.
It works. The UI is horribly outdated and Hayward's entire automation system shows its age. It does however, work. Everything you can do from the console, you can do from the app or web. Setup was beyond easy, less than 5 minutes from opening the box to turning the spa on from my phone.
App UI has a multi-second delay and doesn't inform the user that the most recent click hasn't registered. So the user can queue up multiple requests and thoroughly confuse themselves. The app also doesn't inform the user that valves are in the process of changing. If the user clicks through the pool modes and you watch the equipment you can see the chaos as valves twitch back and forth. Stinks of a bad architecture and Hayward needs to invest in some real talent to resolve these issues.
When it works it's great, but MOST OFTEN IT DOESN'T WORK. It's probably the worst investment in a smart app that I've ever made. We upgraded our pool control system specifically for the convenience of this app so that we could raise and lower the pool temp remotely, but over 95% of the time it doesn't work. Is anyone at Hayward reading these reviews? If they were, it would have been upgraded long ago.
The app stopped displaying the pool temp. I've called in several times and it sounds like a known issue, but hasn't been fixed yet. App is slow more than it is responsive. For the brand Hayward has with their products, this doesn't line up at all. I hope a newer more reliable app is in the works.
App works at mimicking the control panel, but response time could be improved. It would be much better if you could set alerts for things like Low Salt, Filter Off, etc... If I am out of town and the power goes off, I want a text to tell me to turn the pump back on.
This app is a clunky, non functional, frustrating mess. Buttons must be clicked multiple times for them to toggle through on and off states an undetermined number of times before it registers the on or off state you need. This toggling takes on average 5 solid minutes. Some times more, sometimes less. The light system is stupid too.
When I want to turn the lights on, it takes forever and typically the app won't turn the lights on. When I want to turn on only the spa it turns on the entire pool system, then I have to go manually turn on the spa. When I want to see what the ppm for salt is, it takes FOREVER to scroll through. Its not a good app, drastic improvements need to be made.
This app is terrible. Doesn't connect to our system 95% of the time when trying to control outside of our local wifi network. Works OK if you use the ip address and control via browser while you are at home, but don't think you will control your system of you aren't home - not gonna happen. It will sometimes control but you have to try over and over until you get lucky. Will be replacing my control box with something other than Hayward this year just because of this terrible experience.
2019: WORST APP on my phone. Not worth the money for the whole system. 500mb up/down wifi with excellent connectivity. Nearly impossible to control panel from phone due to latency/lag. 5-20 seconds response time from pushing button on phone to reaction from system. This is Hayward, not user error. Updates in recent years made app worse, not better. DO NOT WASTE MONEY INSTALLING THIS HARDWARE/SOFTWARE. Update 2022: app is WORSE. Disconnected and says NULL in all buttons.
Well I just got my pool installed, finally I was going to be able to just control it all from my phone with this high tech system they sold me. Nope same issues with the extreme slow response to all inputs n feedback that all these previous reviews have stated for years. Unfortunately nothing I could do.
Crashes every single day. For the last 4 months (at least) none of the device names have shown. Everything went to default e.g. aux1, aux2. Controller still has the correct name but will not send to the app.
So far so good on my Galaxy S10. I did reserve an IP address for the AquaConnect through my router just in case that's causing everyone's issue. I'll update my rating if the tool stops functioning like everyone else's. Update: Not sure what people are complaining about. The app has worked great.
This app really is bad. It doesn't connect half the time and the other half it does random stuff. Click on pool and it moves to spa. We hated this function so much that we paid to get the aquapod 2.0 for 500 bucks. Best money we spent and it's water proof. Would be nice if they updated this app, fix the bugs and make it better.
Rarely works, when it does it does not show the pool temp, we have heater on both pools. Customer service is non existent. I hoped for better and no upgrades to their app in years
Cannot really give a fair review yet. Pool company said this app is needed to interface with the module we are having installed. set up an AquaConnect account via a desktop (no pool/module added yet). When opening the app on a Samsung Note10+ or a Galaxy S21 Ultra (all latest updates are installed) the app closes as soon as its opened. Surely the pool/module do not need to be set up on via a web based interface first for the app to open. Thinking one should be add these via the app.
Hardly ever works, it used to work, but I believe it's so old it doesn't work with the newer phones. I would be away from home and push the spa button and my spa next to my pool would come on. Now I may have to push it 10 separate times before it finally connects
This app is awful! Everytime I turn the spa on, within seconds the app turns it back off. Then vice versa. It has a horrible lag and is almost impossible to control the pool and spa with it.
I keep getting "lost link" in the app info. Been like this for 2 weeks. I've done all the troubleshooting. Still not resolved. The only way I can communicate with it now is by typing the ip address into my phone's internet. So why doesnt it work with the app !!!!!!!
The phone to wifi base to the Aquaconnect system has very poor connectivity. Even when connected, one might have to wait 20 seconds before a command is received and updated on the screen of the phone.
This app is so behind the times it's astonishing. Biggest problem is that it is very slow, unresponsive and there hasn't been an update in the 4 years that I have had it. Most of the time the app doesn't come up on newer phones. Second issue is that setting changes to the pool aren't intuitive on the app. Hopefully Hayward reads this and has a solution.
