The hardware is good but app is not user friendly. A normal guide and an easier way to change the channels would be nice. Also it would be nice if you could replace the atsc 1.0 channels with the atsc 3.0 channels so you don't have to go to the 100's to watch them.
I really wanted to like this DVR for OTA signals. Using the HDHomeRun Scribe Quatro was nearly impossible from the start. After waiting days for technical support I finally got it installed on my own. Once hooked up it runs so hot you can't touch the box for more than a few seconds. Jittery picture, weird menu system, and other issues have forced me to rethink this purchase. On a good note, the tuners seem pretty strong to pull in the same amount of channels as my TV. It would be great if this product was working as advertised.
I have my tuner on a vlan separate from my secure network. This app will not let me point to the ip address of the device. It only allows automatic detection. The app lacks any settings regardless but this has made me rethink my tuner choice.
Don't use this to watch TV. This app is awful. Hardware companies shouldn't do software. You need the app for set up and to scan channels, it's useless for anything else. Just don't. Get VLC for Android and be happy.
Works as intended on the Shield TV, even with ATSC 3.0 channels. I did encounter an issue with crashing when tuning ATSC 3 but reached out to support on the Silicondust forums and they released a fix within a day. Pretty amazing customer service.
App keeps quitting after 1 hour whenever subtitles are turned on. Please fix.
I really want to like this product. But it has some issues probably relating to the hardware, the HDHomerun Quattro. Scrolling right on the selected channels, to view up coming live TV shows, it will get stuck and display to far ahead in time. Serious Audio/Video sync issues and Audio pitch changes. UPDATE: So it seems the issues are related to the HDHomerun software. I've been using 'alternative' software for the last week with no issues at all. Hardware is brilliant, software needs work.
In my area (on the north east side of Indianapolis), there are about 54 locally available channels (including sub-channels). I have a modest attic antenna which easily gets all of those channels (plus some from 40 or miles away that are mainly duplicates of the networks in Indy). I'm only interested in the local channels, I don't want to try to pull in channels 70 or 100 miles away. Unfortunately, this app lists 133 channels in the channel list. So I'm scrolling through dozens of channels that I cannot watch an are far outside of a reasonable range (some in my channel list are 90 to 120 miles away). There is no way to exclude these unusable channels from the channel list. Also, many times the channel list shows sub-channels that simply do not exist. An example of this would be channel 47, which has 47.1. The app channel also lists 47.2, 47.3 and 47.4, which do not exist. In order to really be useful, the app should allow scanning for usable channels and also allow excluding unwanted channels from the channel list and searches. For now, I'm not using this app. I'm hoping they will make it better soon.
Ignore the 1 star reviews, they are from people who don't understand that this app is a complement to a piece of hardware you buy. It's rough around the edges, but very useful. Development seems to be pretty slow. It doesn't support portrait orientation or minimizing to a floating window, limiting how useful it is for multitasking on the phone. But the core feature of streaming from your antenna to any device on your home network is awesome, and allows me to watch the Olympics in bed. 3.5/5
Really like the ease of setup. Able to setup the NAS DVR settings if I sign up for that service. Personally I would desire to save locally for no fee and use a cloud DVR for the fee but hey, can always ask :). Last request probably the most important for me is Chromecast capability. Bought the Connect Duo because just got a second hand Vizio 4k TV without a tuner for cable. Lack of native app support has been a little troublesome but worked around it. Overall very satisfied witht the product.
You can't use mobile data + home VPN. Error specifically stating I need to be connected to LAN. You guys need to get to the future, fast.
Been running the app for around 2 years via a Nvidia Shield. Has on going sound sync issues that is usually cured with an annoying restart. Sometimes it'll just lock up for 5-10mins with no solution, just have to wait for it to correct itself. Added a Chromecast Google TV and the app freezes every 10-15mins have to select another channel to get it running again. These are expensive tuners should be trouble free. Also having to pay a subscription for DVR and 7 day guide is bs. Not recommended.
Doesn't work, just use Plex. Unfortunately this app simply will not connect to my HD home run flex. It offers no way of picking the device if it doesn't detect it it does work. So it doesn't work.... wish there was a way to point it to the device or a way to do trouble shooting but alas 2 buttons retry or give up.
Works fine with an older dual model. I've tried using a mohu leaf antenna, and an amplified model. Both work fine, each antenna could smoothly play some channels the other couldn't. I settled on amplified. Kodi functionality doesn't work for me. I tried the latest version from github, but get an error message "tuner is in use".
This is an amazing app. Works great on my network!
Does not work with HDHomeRun DUAL (hdhr-us). It claims there is no device available. I can comnect from browser to its http port however.
Wish they could add being able to shift to the left at the start. That would put you at the top end of the channels.
With the update of 1/24/22, this app is not able to play videos on my Android 10 tablet. It worked beautifully the day before.
Ever since the app was updated to include record features, the quality has gone down, down, down. App will just stop working and you have to restart it, or it just hangs and pauses and wont restart. Save your time and search for other clients that work with the HDhomerun hardware!
Last update: no devices found. I still can use the tuner in VLC, but this app no longer works.
Doesn't work with the latest update, App can't find device. I use to watch live tv on my phone now I can't.
Really, it gets worse and worse with each update - are you taking tips from the geniuses over at Plex?! First of all, every time the app is started (Galaxy S21 Ultra) the pic is 4:3 stretched, meaning you have to switch channels to make widescreen 16:9 "take". Now the channel list seems to take forever to load itself up, as if from floppy disk or something - don't try to scroll you channel list up too fast, no no, or you'll find it all blank and playing catch up. And, the EXIT button!?! Yes, devs, I AM SURE that I want to quit - that's why I hit the back button a few times in quick succession. And the age old problem (of their own making) of everything upmixing to 5.1 channels meaning on Android TV anything in stereo doesn't have the dialogue coming out the center speaker in my AV system, only left and right channels becuase I cannot chose my own method of to PROPERLY upmix stereo sound. Er, durr.
