Headspeed Tachometer

Headspeed Tachometer is used to measure the headspeed of your r/c-helicopter.The sound of the blades will be analyzed and the according headspeed will be calculated.Using Settings you can choose between standard (rpm up to 4000) and micro sized (rpm up to 8000) helicopter and setup the number of blades between 2 and 5.Before starting the measuring you have to set an estimated headspeed. You can expect most accurate measurings if set inside the range of +/
- 500rpm to your real headspeed.Works with electric and nitro helis without changing any settings.
For best results please follow these instructions:Make sure you have not too much side noise like strong wind. After setting an estimated headspeed place your phone on the ground 1-2m from your helicopter.Press the "Measure headspeed" button and walk to a save distance.Spool up the helicopter to your desired headspeed and wait about 20 seconds. After the blades have come to a stop retrieve your phone and press the "Stop measuring" button. Now you can read the headspeeds during the measuring.

You can save the result to the log history using the menu option. If you enable the option "Save log automatically" logs will be saved automatically after finishing measuring.Touch a log entry in the log history to view saved results. Long touch a log entry to send the entry or delete it.Use log menu to send complete log history.

We want to increase accuracy and compatibility of this App. So please help us and send feeback to [email protected] supply information about the phone and helicopters you measured the headspeed.

I love the app but estimated headspeed is so dim it can only be seen in the dark. Im guessing it happened after some update.

Excellent app confirmed working on my Pixel 2 XL running Android 10. Measured headspeed within a few percent of what I'd manually calculated for my 450 size heli.

I looked on the net to find the rpm of the trex 150 was 7500 according to align with 8200kv motor. This app read my rpm at 7700 and i have the 9000kv motor so it's well within the ballpark. Crazy enough for a cheap app

During installation, received a warning that the appl might not work with new android phone..no way to check for updates

did not give any consistent readings, rising rpm gave lower readings etc.

Based on my calculations this app is pretty accurate based on my My needs and it is a great extra tool to have

This app needs to be updated, to be compatible with modern Android devices.

Amazing app, love it

Really surprised, had been using a optical tach and I didn't want to work early in the morning or late at night also had 20 RPM increments , to my surprise I'm getting readings down to a single RPM and even after in flight not just checking the head speed on the ground before liftoff

As a Senior Java Developer I have to say that this is truly an amazing app!!!

Just works, what else do you need

Verified against MA skytach and onboard telemetry. This app was within 20RPM on 450-700 electrics and 600-700 nitros (not saying it doesn't work outside of those, that's just all we had to test at the time.) It's a great little app.

Three blade Trex 700 is now easy to measure. I was doubting this app, but the thing works, and pretty well too! Nice one.

Does what it says and compares in accuracy with optical and telemetry readings for my 450, 500 and 600 electrics. No complicated setup or guesswork required. Awesome value!

This app is very accurate

Handy tool to have.

App works well, I have been using this app for my 450 size heli and a few other larger helis. It seems to work well.

Ben. P. Aug 28, 2014

I have compared this to other tachs and telemetry sensors and it's very accurate. It's easy to use and works surprisingly well. Used on 450 electrics, 550 and 600 nitros with equal success.

Works exactly the way it is expected. Great app, especially when you dont have someone present to tach the disk for you

Che. L. Jan 16, 2015

used it today on my note 4 to measure head speed of my x3. work like a charming.

wah. e. Feb 25, 2015

Very accurate, prety close to esc calculation

Bra. Jan 30, 2013

I am sure it would be different with a larger heli. Will only show intermittent readings and they fluctuate wildly.

Umm, the whole point of a tach is to determine rpm. In order for this app to read, you have to "estimate" your rpm?! I have no frikkin idea how fast the rotor is spinning! Isn't this app supposed to tell me that? If I select 8000 rpm as an estimate, the app will tell me my rotor is spinning in the 8k rpm range when I have just barely started it spinning. The same for the opposite end of the scale, full throttle will yield head speed readings in the 3k range.

Excellent app. Very close agreement with my optical tach. Much easier to use. Checking 500 , 600 and 700 size both electric and nitro.

Bry. P. Dec 12, 2013

Seems like it works alright, was able to differentiate between two different battery brands I use.

Ral. G. Jul 15, 2013

Right on with all of my other tachs (with in 20 RPM) Loggin & Setup easier rhan with the orher Apps that I have tried.

A. G. u. Jul 8, 2012

Works perfectly. I like it better than the other head speed tach app.
