It was a private getaway for the elite in the 1920s through 1940s, luring Hollywood stars, powerful political leaders, and renown literary figures such as Jean Paul Getty, Bernard Shaw, Calvin Coolidge, Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, and Marion Davies. I truely believe that this castle and it's surrounding gardens are heaven on earth!! There is no other place on the planet that even compares to the beauty that William Randolph Hearst and Julia Morgan created. This whole ranch is absolutely stunning!! The art work is priceless, magnificent and it will take your breath away!! Just wait until the outside pool is lined with solid gold and the castle gets finished. It was once meant to be a private residence when WRH was alive. It should be again!!

Unfortunately the main screen for this app is extremely dark even with brightness set to maximum. Worse still, the darkness temporarily affects other apps! The app is therefore unusable at Hearst Castle itself, as it's impossible to read the screen or see any of the menu options.
Provides a fantastic walking tour of the grounds outside. The only issue I had was with the screen brightness adjusting appropriately.
Tried to download on my two new Ipads but keep getting "this app is not compatible with your device" there are also some small errors in app where words have been left out of descriptions which is confusing.
We used this app to tell us about the cottages and pools. It would be nice if it had more info on the art pieces.
Great app. Easy functionality and very informative. I like that I don't have to stare at my phone the whole time- it buzzes me when there is something interesting nearby.
Love the foot notes.... didn't get to use the app while at the castle ( no service) but checking out the app afterwards was just as entertaining
No trouble installing or using on Android device. Used extensively on site but would love to see development of interactive off site "exploring ". Also more statutes, etc. would be nice. Great tour guides at Hearst!

Took a little bit to download, but totally worth it. There's SO much to learn about Hearst Castle in this app. The map also shows you exactly where you are when you're up there, which is great because it's a confusing place to navigate! Overall a really nice experience.
Went there last year! Was a great place to visit!
I have visited the castle before and I never learn so much about the gardens like with did with this app!
I downloaded the app, after I opened the app I couldn't get out. There was no exit button or anything to escaped to home. I had to restart my phone twice.
