Heat Index Tool

The temperature is fairly high during summer in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Workers’ Health Centre (HKWHC) thus has learnt the experience from Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) on developing a heat index mobile application, and with the provision of the most updated air temperature and relative humidity from Hong Kong Observatory to calculate the heat index in degrees Celsius for local districts.
The heat index combines both air temperature and relative humidity into a single value. With the reference from OSHA, the risk levels are now divided into four categories –“ low”, “moderate”, “high” and “very high to extreme”. The higher the heat index, the hotter the weather will feel, and the greater the risk that outdoor workers will experience heat illness.
