Heather Scottish TTS Voice

CereProc has developed the world's most advanced text to speech technology. Our voices not only sound real, they have character, making them suitable for any application that requires speech output.
This voice can synthesize:
* Navigation directions from Scout while driving
* Accessibility information with Talkback
* Twitter, Facebook and newsfeeds with iHearNetwork
* Your favourite eBook from eBook reader apps
* Your SMS with apps like Handcent SMS or Drive Carefully
* and many other TTS-enabled apps

Please note that for some applications such as Scout, we recommend installing on a device with at least a 1GHz processor.

You can try the Heather voice for yourself, in the interactive demo on CereProc's homepage:

Purchased this some time ago whilst using an older device and couldn't really get it to run properly, so was refunded. Now, with a new device and greater storage space, I've decided to give it a second run and, so far, I've managed to get it up and running and working to my satisfaction. And I simply love the voice. If there's just one thing, it is that there's a bit of a crackle in the voice, that I can't seem to eradicate, which is why I have awarded 4 stars instead of 5.

Great voice, took me a while to figure out how to stop the crackling/warble in the voice. The default system tts voice speed is about 5% too high for this engine and causes problems. Lower the speed tiny notch by tiny notch, and turn on the drc tts option.

Nice to have a natural voice with a bit of character vs the default annoyingly neutral voices. The sound is far from clean though, frequent crackles. Bearable for short messages, not good for listening to long texts. (Samsung S10e)

it's a good sounding voice but doesn't work with navigation. would be nice if there were better options for selecting what you want it to read

While, I love the voice. There seems to be issues with cereproc tts and Google play book read aloud features . So the cereproc tts seems to be limited on Android .

the app is great, but requires external storage. if, like me, your SD card is set as internal memory, it won't work.

I love the voice, but she is pre-cluded from being used and I don't know how to enable her and get around google TTS

The voice is better then Google's but the static is a deal breaker.

For years I have enjoyed these Cereproc apps.

Please update your app. Voice needs an update. Please improve the pronunciation and emphasis to produce a question instead of a statement. It would make the reading of a story more enjoyable.

Love the voice and it works fine with a range of chromebooks and TTS software allowing use of the Android default TTS - e.g. Read Aloud. Wish that the young Scottish voice - Mairi - was available on Play Store ... it might be better for ESL to kids.

I keep returning to this voice as my favorite default voice, I use it for text to speech books, maps, etc.

Recent updates have made this a very good voice.

The best sounding tts voice to my ear. Sadly, even when disabling the Google engine, you still won't get Heather speaking most of the time. Just occasionally a sentence will break through... Edit 2017: still doesn't work with Google navigation 👿. I've had this some time now, but still no progress.

This is my favorite Scottish TTS voice of all time!! I have worked with Cereproc to get it working with TalkBack. Initially the voice froze, so I reported this to Cereproc, and it was fixed! I am blind and must use synthetic speech every day, to complete every task on my phone. Not only am I immensely pleased with the voice, but I am quite pleased with Cereproc!! And, the reason the voice does not work with navigation anymore, is because Google does not allow us to use any voices, other than theirs, anymore, for navigation purposes.

I really love this voice but it no longer works with Google Maps (I'm guessing Google is disabling 3rd party TTS on their apps) and only occasionally works on Google Now (namely when setting reminders). The rest of the time, it's just the crappy Google TTS.

Updated today, 23 Feb 17. The downloaded file seemed to be the wrong size, breaking the TTS for this voice. This is now fixed.

Not as realistic as Caitlin, but damn her voice is so soothing that I love listening to it. Definitely glad to use this instead of the default google TTS though it's unfortunate that I can't change the voice on default Google apps.

Not recommended. Worse than useless. Attempting to do ANYTHING by pressing on buttons fails. Nada, kaput. Don't waste your money. I had hoped to use it for reading books, that would have been impossible.

The very best voice there is although an update in early 2016 made it sound less Scottish and more robotic. The latest update makes it so I can't use it for Google maps or S Voice. Sad.
