Really great app to exchange, get help from natives etc... There's an excellent web version for the chat. I wish there was also a web version for the "wall" where people post their messages, because it can sometimes be tiring to write with your phone keyboard. All in all, it's a great app!
I'm not rating a lot of applications on playstore but this one is so awesome !!!! In my opinion it's the best way to improve language comprehension with speaking and writing skills. I think that it's more appropriate for people with intermediate or advanced level. Using Duolingo & HelloTalk could be a good combination for beginners. Anyway, thanks a lot HelloTalk for this stunning app ! 🌟✌
Yeah i love this app bcuz i can improve my lvl in english and make friends at the same time. It's always interesting to discover other countries and their cultures etc. Also, Idk why but i don't receive the notifications for the message except when I'm using the app (so it's useless lol). I have already checked several times in my settings that I had allowed notifications and it still does not work
This app is great for communicating with others to learn languages and/or help others learn languages although, it could be improved in 2 ways. Firstly it would be great if you could be logged into one account with multiple devices and secondly, messages disappear randomly, it happens very rarely but when it does it's quite annoying. Other than those, amazing app and I recommend!! :)
This app is really powerful, it offers a lot of learning features, and it's easy to find people to chat with and you can easily make posts and comment on people's posts. The system for correcting each other's text is pretty easy to use. Learning a language is messy and challenging and fun, and if I could change one thing I would change it so the notifications about new moments from people you follow included a preview of what they posted. I would use the app more if they did.
I do like the app but there are various annoyances that tarnish the experience. There is currently no way to turn off notifications from official accounts. (Or it's not easy to find.) It's very annoying not having the option as they're mostly related to events or advertising for their other services which I'm not interested in. The advertising for their own services even exists while you're on a VIP plan. I get why it's there but I should be able to opt out while I'm paying to remove ads.
One of the best apps I have ever used. Learning language or not it is very user-friendly. You can talk to people you find whether on Moments or on Connect or ever in groups! The reason I gave 4 stars was because the appearance of the app overall in not that good. The Chat section and the Profile section are the only places where I don't find it good. BUT the app is super cool and amazing, no doubt, the best language exchange app!
It seems they finally solved the issue with not showing new messages. It took several years, but hooray! They added a new notification "The profile is complete N%". I don't want to complete all sections like school and the notification doesn't go away. Annoying. It looks like QA is non existent in this company. And still even with premium account you have HT ads.
This app has a great concept, and is really useful. It seems like the developers care about user feedback, which I appreciate; I left reviews about issues and bugs, and they've all been fixed. The one thing that persists since I first installed is the broken netcode. I thought it was clientside before reading the reviews, but it seems everyone is having the same problems: long load times for media messages, frequent server disconnects, and push notifications not showing up for received messages.
Great concept but the app crashes constantly. I really wish they had a dark mode for the app, the brightness is very uncomfortable when spending hours in the app. As for the translator, I wish it would update automatically as I change the text, currently I have to set the language repeatedly every time I change a word in the input section, in order to get the new output translation.
App crashes a lot. I can't upload any pictures easily, I have to struggle to upload them. If i tried to close the app and open it again ot freezes. Hellotalk used to be much better than this. I don't know why but so many apps nowadays really don't give much attention to their performance once they have lots of users. It's a real shame
I praised this app, but since they introduced new features and raised the bar for themselves I need to say these few words of truth: it is not working anymore! The language rooms and streaming are brilliant ideas but in practice they are too unstable, bugged, delayed and the quality is so poor. Once u solve those issues - I'm immediately giving 5 stars again :)
PLUS 1. + Many useful features: correct your language-partner, transliteration, translation, learning more than one language(need money), audio messages :) MINUSES 1. - slow support team, that don't give you accurate instruction how to fix the issue. 2. - naming of some term/action that doesn't correspond with the expectations. 3. - restrict your functionality based on somebody's report on you NOT notifying you until you would understand that smth is wrong.
I like that you can speak with natives from the country your trying to learn but one of the biggest problems for me and that others are facing is that the messages most of the ti.e are not being sent, even if the user has full signal. Sometimes it can be one frustrating. I hope this can be fixed. But besides that I like the app truly
One of the most annoying apps ever in tems of notifications. There is this thing called moments and you get a notification every time someone you follow posts one . There is a setting to stop that behavior but it doesn't work. Also you can't block these notifications on a system level because they're taged as new messages
Great App really. I've been on it a little less than a year. If you can get passed all of the spam, weirdos, and daily app crashes, it's definitely good. I'm not mad about the minor inconveniences at all because of how helpful it's been to actually communicate with native speakers of the language I learn. I recommend the VIP if you can afford it. Having more translations is worth it and the translator on this app is very accurate... for the language I'm learning at least
Ever since i updated this app when someone messaged in the app I'm not receiving any notifications on the status bar that someone messaged, even though i enable all notification permissions to the app. I'm facing this issue from the recent update. do something, fix it as soon as possible
It's a great app, one of the best language learning apps out there. But it is a bit hard to use at night for long hours with a bright theme and it also takes a toll on the battery So it would be much appreciated if the app were to include dark mode in the next update. Lots of times I see on my profile notifications that people have sent me messages but in the chat I see no new messages only that they have read my old message. It's a glitch and very annoying thing that you can see someone has sent you a message but you can't read it.
The amount of notifications is ridiculous and they don't categorize them so that you can silence the promotions and notifications you're probably not interested in. Like a bug constantly buzzing in your ear that will never to away. I silenced all notifications and now just go check on occasion. Poor approach.
Recently it's been getting more obnoxious, spammier and spammier. "Are you online? What does this mean?" Irritating notifications that cannot be turned off. About all kinds of topics I have no interest in following. A total deal breaker. I have been a very active participant but if HelloTalk doesn't cut it out, I will unsubscribe from payments and be very vocal about it. I had enough.
It's really nice! Got into the app, was a bit shy, dropped it, and now started getting invested it a lot again after a while. The algorithm is really good at showing you sentences of other people natives in the language you're learning, and it's really easy to get corrections and exchanges. I recommend it !
