I have to say that the HEOS experience is a mixed bag. I only use it to control my ceol unit and stream tidal. The UI is still bad. It is just so many clicks away to do anything.. What I find quite annoying is the inability to do any automatic sorting on the playlist. E.g. if you want newer to last, you have to either queue them manually one by one, or move them one by one in the play queue edit..

Locked in a proprietary technology. I've been using it for many weeks now, and I feel stuck anytime I'm using it. It's complicated to do every action. It lacks basic functionalities. I can't even stream audio from my phone. Everything needs to come from a registered source. It lacks Google music, YouTube music... DLNA source only works in local, no remote server. Frustrating. The designers don't care about user experience, clearly not their priority. I'd better use my phone and my Bluetooth

Awful connectivity. Speakers drop regularly. When it works well, it's good. But fundamentally it should do the basics correctly... Play music seamlessly. It doesn't which it a real shame Update. Downgraded to 1 star. Latest update causes speakers to drop randomly all the time. Renders the very expensive speakers completely useless. Utterly flawed approach from Denon to develop fantastic speakers that you cannot use. So angry.

Overall good and simple to use. It does what it advertises, just needs some tweaking. Denon needs to stay on top of improving it. Back button should go back, not exit. Add ability to create personal playlist. Add recents to Pandora. Add volume buttons on quick pull down menu. Invest in your app development team to stay relevant.

Totally useless. The system has always been inconsistent. Often had to restart the Heos Link, one speaker or more dropping out now and then. Since the recent update it's just not working. I've reinstalled the Heos app, Spotify, unplugged the link, checked for new updates, nothing is working. Initially music was dropping in and out every few seconds, now the Heos app won't recognise any of the devices. Come on Denon you should be ashamed given your great reputation which will soon be ruined.

So frustrating. System just isn't reliable. Great when it works but just inconsistent. 11/19. Sadly updates haven't fixed my problems. Sometimes speakers not shown, other times it is showing speakers grouped while at the same time separate. Please please make the system more stable and consistent. 5/20. Still system is glitch. Please find a way to work with Spotify more smoothly. Apr 22

The app has a lot of bugs and is updated very rarely. I have reported some issues but none were fixed. I have many suggestions, like lock screen controls, customizable volume step, remembering the playlist position after you turn off the receiver, but I doubt anything will be implemented soon. It's a pity, because the hardware is good. Deezer lossless quality is not supported, only 320kbps mp3! This has been requested since 2018 but HEOS doesn't care. 13 April: Can't seek when playing via DLNA!

The app got a lot better. I love that we can fix the audio setting in the active main screen now. I still vote for a swipe screen to the left and or right so you can control multiple devices. It still keeps the spotify screen in front even after choosing an other input on let's say the remote or turning on the tv

The latest update causes a conflict between Heos devices which was not occurring before. The app was horrendous to begin with but at least after much tinkering you might get it to work. Now my Heos bar will not work with my other speakers. What a nightmare! Please fix this asap or roll back the update to previous version immediately!!! Don't force us to use the latest buggy version. Terrible.

For playing music on Spotify I find this a better experience than using Spotify with Sonos. This app has better UI than the main Marantz AVR app.. I hope the devs keep working hard on this one as it seems to be moving in the right direction. Thanks! EDIT 22/05/22: after using this app for a while as a Marantz amp owner I find it frustrating that this app can't detect or tell that my amp is already on and what volume it's at.

Its get music to my other rooms, does it do it in a user friendly way, no not really. Happened to want a Marantz AVR and added denon speakers to see how it would go to avoid more cost of a whole sonos system onto my current one. I use Spotify connect on AVR to Denon speakers so I stay in the Spotify app, this is a means to an end, for god sake though can you add a plus and minus button for volume control! Its incredibly hard to change volume, constantly blast my main speakers trying to change!

I cannot use this anymore. It no longer connects to Alexa or Tune In, and when I try to fix the connection, it no longer allows me to log in, and requesting a password update is pointless, because it recognizes and e-mail address as valid, and you cannot ask for help, because it does not recognize any e-mail address. I have been happy with it the past 2 years, but this is terrible.

Awful. Almost always takes 3 attempts to find my device. Needs to be closed and reopened regularly; And that's before it's even done anything. No YouTube music available. I hate trying to use this app. It is tedious and frustrating and even the thought of using it sends me into despair.

Looks like adding network share works only if SMB1 enabled, pretty bizar in 2022, App crashes regularly, adding songs to existing playlists or music selection based on for example rating all impossible. Was hoping to replace external network player with Heos/Marantz amplifier, but that's impossible for own music collection. Spotify and other streaming service work ok, but since heos app only starts Spotify app, playback Device must be set in Spotify app, it can be used without heos app.

Useless. A soundbar that works 95% of the time is useless particularly when you then waste ages trying random things to get sound back (writing this 20 minutes into one such session) If you are installing app due to purchase, skip install and return the kit before warranty expires. If denon want to complete with sonos then the software has to compete too.

It's just OK for my purposes, but it has blocked me from migrating to Amazon Music to benefit from high res audio because the Amazon Music implementation is so lame. No favourites, playlists or library features available making it impractical. Shame, because I'm frustrated by Spotify quality. Still need to try Tidal.

Clunky and needs improvement to compete with user interface standards that we are all used to these days. Unable to build queues with some services and frequent "function not supported" messages. This app tells me "No" alot.

Superb for control, playback and navigation. Many DLNA controller apps either lack functionality or they don't care about the user experience. This app makes it very easy to switch between what's currently streaming; your library/playlist; system settings _and back again_. I wish Cambridge Audio's StreamMagic was as good as this; unfortunately I am using their *excellent* CXNv2 streamer now, instead of my Denon AVR, for digital stereo music. With a Denon AVC-X4700H this app shines.

This app is terribly frustrating! Doesn't work half the time, or more, and then I have to spend a lot of time getting the Denon receiver to work again. I will never buy another product from Denon. Way too complex

Rob. 0. May 22, 2022

Only had the app one day and it's stopped working already, unknown error 2000 message, if you can't make something that works then don't bother, go work in a burger bar or something! Works great now .

Mat. W. Apr 13, 2022

After months of disappointment things got much better... especially with the controls. Keep up the good job! The final star is missing for a bit unintiuitive control of selected music services... and different from the original app by the music provider.

I've been using it over a year now. It worked pretty decent right away but now, half the time is says unable to play media try back later. I have tried uninstalling it resetting my router etc. Contacted Denon service, which was horrible. Lots of generic email that took weeks to reply. I ended up sending the 150 in under warranty, I paid shipping. Finally got it back, work for a few months. Now it won't connect and the app will not see it. Nothing but problems with this system. Very disappointed!

Probably the most difficult App to get the hang of .... and Im still trying. The colour coded lights and the combination of colours and button press on the back panel seldom work the way described in the instructions. There are quite a few audio devices around the house but none as fiddly and unpredictable as this. Sounds great though..... when it's working as required!
