Hero Project Redemption Season

America's #1 reality show for heroes is back for another season! Harness your superpowers to steal the spotlight, win votes, and save your sister!
"The Hero Project: Redemption Season" is the first installment in a new series of interactive novels by Zachary Sergi set in the "Heroes Rise" universe. Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--129,000 words, without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

In a contest where everyone has superpowers, your opponents can cause earthquakes and explosions, but you're an average Ani-Powered who wakes up with different animal attributes every day. Will your hawk eyes or canine claws take you far enough in the competition to satisfy the only person who can help your sister? And what happens if winning isn't enough?

As you advance, the decisions you make will transform viewers' ideas of what it means to be a hero. Will you fight for your own goals, or make sacrifices for the good of society? Strive for what you believe is right by following the rules, or take down the whole system with more radical methods? Would you take wealth and fame over changing the world?

Choose wisely. It's Redemption Season.

• Play as male, female, trans, or nonbinary; gay, straight, or bi.
• Begin a new story in Millennia City, influenced by your actions in the "Heroes Rise" trilogy.
• Play as a new hero, in a new season of The Hero Project!

I just couldn't enjoy it. The first series was well done because you truly had full control of what kind of character you wanted to be. This game forces you to be only one regardless of what choices you make. I just felt locked in and bored the whole time. Could have been so much better but just flopped. I couldn't even finish the next game cause of the taste this one left.

The #1 criticism of this game is it's too political. It is very much so, and there could definitely be more characterization. But does that make it bad? I don't think so. I had lots of fun playing this. There are fewer options to make your MC as varied depth-wise as the first 3 games, but the MC is still written decently. As a minority I thought the political aspect was a fun and fresh take on IRL social issues. It's nowhere near as well done as the first 3, but I think it deserves a chance.

Found an issue in chapter four. While having a high leaderboard if I choose not to reveal Starsoar's delusional stuff, when I get selected at 4th number, I still get the statement "And that's probably largely because of what you did tonight—you must have tipped the scales in your favor by revealing what you did."

Enjoyed the hero's rise trilogy but this story here feels like someone took my favorite IP n dragged through the mud. The story is so jam packed with politics that I i feel like fox news should be taking notes cause yes that's how ridiculous the story is, for me this is like the new starwars trilogy, just riding off the coat tails of the OG movies n forgetting what made the OG movies so good n not filled to the brim with political corrections that the series as a whole is not worth it anymore.

Pronouns of zis/sis/etc are too much, ruins the experience, would be better if the author tone down it a bit

Happy to see and continue to play in the world of super heroes and a hero of Millenial City

Warning this is a game filled with unnecessary propaganda therefore it is not worth your time and money friends.

honestly I love these types of games and this one is probably the best I've seen yet!

I have nothing against trans peoples but the pronouns are too much, and for me it ruins the flow of the reading

I just hope you make less it political and make more action or something. Something unexpected

Too. Much. Politics, Zis? Seriously? Nah, this ain't it

enjoyable read, have fun playing it multiple times

Not as good as the other ones. Way too activist-y. It's more about pushing for superhero rights, in a paper-thin analogy for lgbt rights, than actually being a superhero.

I loved the first three hero books but this one gives me a sort of weird social justice warrior vibe. It was less fighting and way more gender advocating.

Not worth the buy. Instead of heroism acts like the previous Hero Projects, this one basically shove activism and politics down your throat whether you like it or not. I thought I could give it a chance but I couldn't.

Overall, it feels like a standalone piece that is seperate from the first game. As someone who has read and enjoyed the other titles: it doesn't seem like it connects. I really wanted to see a great continuation of the first series but this is just not it.

Compare to the first one this one is really boring.

The story dives into the meat of the ani-hero conflicts. Overall i enjoyed the story, but it was dragged down by two major flaws. First of all, do not derail a cyoa adventure by swapping to a different character perspective. It shatters the suspention of disbelief. These scenes would have had impact had they been written from the main character's perspective. Secendly, at least provide an alternative mechip personality, even if its generic. I always hated Prodigal's insanity.

Contrary to many reviews, I didn't mind the "political" aspect of it at all, I even found it was refreshing to stumble upon these discussions in a game like this. As a whole, it's weaker than the original trilogy, and I did feel less involved in my character, but I think that's mostly due to the fact that we only have one book with them, compared to the first 3. The story was still quite engaging. I really did like that the MC's powers are not the overly powerful, glamorous type.

I'm all for diversity and inclusivity. I'm perfectly fine with games like this allowing the player to be LGBT/non-binary. But it gets a little out of control in this game. The original trilogy was great, because it was Inclusive, but mainly focused on the actual story - which was about being a super hero. This game seems to be entirely about activism, under the disguise of a super hero story. I found myself getting a little irritated, trying to immerse myself in the story, but having to focus too much on social issues, than just enjoying a game. Also, wouldn't it be easier to just use they/them instead of zir/ze? Every time I came across those pronouns, I had to actively make my brain register it.

The concept is pretty lame from the start, combine that with the fact that you not only can't select your power set (and the one you get is really lame, basically super limited animal aspect that you can't even control) but you also have almost no choice in how you use it, the power in and of itself limits any of the player's choices instead of adding to them. It takes the control out of the player's hands via "randomness" aka railroading. Combine the uninteresting powers with the shoehorned in politics and average story concept, and you're in for an underwhelming experience.

My least favorite of the "heros cyoa" I haven't even gotten past the fiest few sections as I hate that my MC can't even control their superpower it ruins the story for me tbh as it just annoys me. I'm hoping open season will be much better.

I loved the theme and the fact that you have to think fast with every switch. Looking forward to the last session. I hope I get to play my main character through the series Shadow. Would be cool to combine him and Shifter, my current character for season two

Keep your dang social views out of your game. I could tolerate all of the freedom and choices from your past work (which I love) but this feels shoehorned in, aggressive, and simply offputting. Don't mess up Versus like you messed up this series.

I disliked this installment because I found it extremely difficult to get into the main character. I realize that that might have been what the author was going for but it did not work for me. While I appreciate that insider/outsider was an important theme, it is just not what I look for in superhero escapist fiction. Additionally there were too many supporting characters to keep up with and they were lacking. Author sacrificed character and story for theme and I prefer the former.

Really disliked this game. I'm annoyed how I didn't get to play through the entire hero project, annoyed at the character switching and honestly I'm still salty about Prodigy :( I didn't connect with the MC this time around, and didn't enjoy all of the agenda this instalment forced onto me. I only played through once, and then uninstalled. I will probably never play this again and I feel like I wasted my money. Very disappointed with the whole thing. I don't recommend this game to anyone who fell in love with the Heroes Rise franchise. Don't waste your time or your money on this, it's not worth it.
