The idea and objective of the game is spot on. Old school D & D type game play. I wish there was a little less dungeon crawler and at least some intellectual puzzles or needs. Foes become harder and tactics/strategies become necessary. Combat is the core of this game yet it lacks obvious concepts, stun, flash, darkness, etc. Overall the game is fun and combat challenging, but it could be so much more, especially with such a great background storyline.
This is one of the best RPG's for mobile! I enjoyed it so much that I put it on my tablet too, and have 2 teams on each to decide the combo of classes I like best. All of the classes are unique and work together differently, and the game is challenging enough that it matters. It's not a moneygrab. To unlock ALL, I spent 12 bucks, and no crystals to keep buying or timers. Finding the best builds to beat the 1st chapter is already worth it, with 3 more chapters to go! Well done!!
I have been enjoying it so far. The free mission is good enough to get an understanding of what I can expect in the other episodes. I personally would recommend that individuals also purchase the extra characters because at least some of them will dramatically improve gameplay. I purchased all four in an effort to test which ones I prefer for different play styles. The total cost for the four missions and the four characters is actually quite reasonable.
Hands down one of the best dungeron crawlers out there. I thoroughly enjoyed the epic story and tried to discover every angle of it. Highly recommended! Pros: -epic story -challenging combat -autosave every turn -customizable, user-friendly interface -it's THE top down dungeon crawler. what's not to like?! -best value for money Cons: -some actions cause it to drop to desktop (Android 5.1, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime), however the autosave makes it manageable -some fights are tough. I mean TOUGH. I mean you will try and die and reload the autosave 20 times until RNG shows some mercy. it is very rare though. -Accuracy and Defense calculation is confusing
A very good game, solid demo to begin with and a reasonable price to unlock the chapters, although I'm less sure about the pricing on the additional characters. Stealth seems fairly low reward from what I've experienced so far, but I'm still learning and have plenty of game left to explore and experience.
One of the best turn-based RPGs out there, but now it started crashing on my phone after a few minutes. Bought episode 1 and 2 already and guess I'll have to watch a playthrough to know the story, since there are no updates for almost an year now.
Great turn-based D&D style game. Different ways to develop characters through skills. Team building(16 possible) is critical at more difficult levels. Developers quickly respond. Blog site for tips. Great story & lore. Also decisions effect later outcomes. Only problem-game is TOO large. You will get your money's worth and much more.
A very decent turn-based RPG. Reminds me of icewind dale :) after playing the prologue for free (great idea to make it free) you're not forced to but a whole game for 4$ but you can buy chapter by chapter for 1$ each (there are 4 chapters), making it this way by developers was just a classy move. I bought the whole package anyway just after finishing prologue, I've no doubt that I will enjoy the whole game. Controls may be more convenient but it's not a big deal. I'm glad to support such game.
It's a good game, but it isn't so nice on a phone, and the free portion is really just a quick demo. Controls are a bit clunky, UI is not intuitive, and you can't really customize anything, not even a character name. I enjoyed it, but it is definitely pay-to-play. I cannot give 5 stars.
The only way to make this game better would be to add customizable character creation and a more open world with more side quests. The game play is everything I have been looking for in a turn based game. Good tactics. Good story. Character development. High fantasy.
pretty good old school turn based grid style rpg. i used to play alot of games this style when i was a kid on the old computer, just glad i finally found a good one. i hope that the game has a long story and some replay value, if not hopefully they will release new chapters or stories in the future.
Oh the nostalgia I get from trying out this game. Excellent although just a 4/5 from me for the "tease" tutorial-instant pay to play(not that it's exactly expensive .99¢ ) but,to actually play any levels. Maybe I'll try again another time.
I really like this game ,it is a simpler version of Baldurs Gate,Icewind Dale,etc... The storyline is good ,combat is turn based and controls are very good for a tablet Android version... The best is there's no ads,the tutorial chapter is free, and each chapter is .99$ if you want to continue... I was impressed enough to buy the first chapter and I feel the cost is a excellent value for the quality of this game....💯👍
A great way to try before you buy! This free demo version of the game is a nice showcase of the features and gameplay mechanics. I am enjoying the tactics and the team synergies. I've had a great time playing. This convinced me to purchase the ELITE version which has all the story chapters(100+ hours) content. Be aware that this is a standalone trial. IAPs do not transfer to the ELITE version of this game.
I rarely write actual reviews, but Heroes of Steel is truly a gem when it comes to RPGs. Amazing plot, wonderful hero characters and protagonists. Great battle and skill progression system. All in all, an amazing game! Worth every penny, no doubt about it!
Very worthwhile purchase. Generic but well delivered heroic fantasy with likable characters and meaningful decisions. It could use a little more musical variety, the music it uses is good but gets a touch repetitive.
5*. A big thank you to the developers for an excellent game. I love a quality turn-based squad game, with decent range of choices for character progression. Very happy with the price of extra dungeons ($1 per set of around 25 dungeons).
This game is great! Trese bros know RPGs and this one is more accessible than some of these others, solid mechanics, solid writing, excellent controls. You cannot go wrong with this one.
Pretty chill rpg. Lots of explanations and easy to play. Its got all of the basics in character development and a storyline too.
I've almost finished this game back when all the episodes were free, but sadly my phone broke but not because of the game. and now i remember this game and downloaded it on my new phone, but it turns out that it's not all free anymore 😢. sad. it's really a nice game.
I've bought 2 of Trese bros games on PC already, and will probably buy the elite version of this one. They make tremendous games with loads of content and lots of attention to balancing difficulty. They're one of a kind.
Wont lauch on my admittedly older galaxy tab 3 10in ,so if u guys know the issue let me know as well but if not dont waste the effort for troubleshooting what is most probably a outdate hardware issue. That said the trese bros team is the most responsible developers out there from my experience with several other titles ive bought with REAL money after playing ALOT for free.if i can run HoS on this device this should be a five star
Great gameplay, As always these Brothers make a solid game, with good mechanics, an interesting story line and fun to play. Well worth the purchase price on any or all of them.
Dungeon crawler rpg. Fun storyline. Off-line. No snoopware or ads. Just ended Ep 1, and can't wait to play other three. Fantastic value. Thank you, Trese Brothers.
i love this type of game but i needs a quick/autocombat feature....half of your time is spent on repetetive low value battles! please fix/patch and i'd be happy to pay!
I really like your game, but My fingers really hurt. When I'm playing your game... The control is so bad and too hard for me Please make me turn my phone vertically or add a screen control Joystick And more Key like action.
It is a really good rpg style game. I particular like the tactical aspects of the fights - if you try to brute-force it, you will lose. The controls are a bit clunky, so I often make annoying mistakes. There is a lot of material with many large dungeons, but only a few monster types, so it gets a little repetitive. Also bear in mind, only the intro is free, they ask for payment before getting into the meat of the adventure. I think that is totally fair, but worth keeping in mind before starting.
