Hex: A Connection Game

The game of Hex was first invented in 1942 by Piet Hein, a Danish mathematician. In 1948 an American mathematician John Nash, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, re-invented the game, which became popular among the students at Princeton.
Hex is a two-player connection game. The rules are stunningly simple, this game can be learned in less than a minute. Each player has an allocated color, usually red or blue. Players take turns coloring a single empty cell within the overall playing board with their colors. The goal for each player is to form a connected path of those cells linking sides of the board marked by their colors. The first player to complete the connection wins the game.
The game is very easy to start, but hard to master. Try to win against the computer engine provided by this app. If you do not like your last move(s), feel free to use the undo button. Using settings increase complexity level, enable swap rule, allow the computer to make first move (with or without swap rule). If you want to learn the best moves try the hint button.
Swap rule: Since in Hex the first player has a distinct advantage, the swap rule can be used for fairness. This rule gives the second player an option to switch positions with the first player after the first player makes the first move. Thus the first player is forced to choose a first move that will not give a definite win.
Please share your feedback, especially if you have found issues or can win easily. Make sure to try all levels including Expert.

Very clean UI. Free and without ads! Does just one thing but it does it well; the AI is strong enough to be a useful training opponent. The only complain is that you have to play the gsme out completely, even when it is obvious one side won.
I really like this game. The gameplay is great, the AI is smart, the controls are nice, and the ads are unintrusive. None of the game is based on luck, its just strategy and tactics, which I really enjoy. It would be nice to have multiple board sizes though.
Good example of a hex game. Had been looking for one for a while. The computer needs to play better, has not been able to beat me, even going first and in expert mode.
Edit: oops, I actually like the game, kudos, I think I was just frustrated playing the expert level and no matter how many step backs I did, it was impossible to beat the bot..need to try harder
Great app glad to fine a good platform for hex if u could make some form of multi player that would be awesome (I know its a small player base but still)
Its bloody awsome. Ive played the expert mode countless times and im just mastering it. The a.i is great... but you could work on making an online mode
Great implementation. And with the swap rule in effect, the MoHex engine is darn near impossible to beat. Just try it😄

I got into the game, clicked a hex, and guess what happend? It lagged! i couldn't see what I tapped. I'm an Android user.

I love this game. Endless RELAXING amusement. Anybody that finds fault with it doesn't understand the game. Played for years
Just because I win 1 game every 50 played doesn't mean I want to play expert level. Why not let me choose the level I feel challenged at. Its no fun to lose 50 games straight.
Decent hex player, at least for casual play. Does not immediately go for the jugular.
The recent update is a great improvement. My rating went from 2 to 4, may go to 5 after I play some more.
I played this game competitively in H.S. (state champion) I can only beat the expert level if I make no wrong moves.
Sometimes ap will freeze so must kill it. But overal its an amazing game with great AI.

New review: It now works, but the resolution of in game assets, including tiles and the small amount of in game UI, Is terrible with everything looking blurry and straight lines coming off as very jagged. Most of the games UI uses android popups, which is an option for new developers but feels very lazy. Gameplay is fine, but the app as a whole feels terrible. Old review: Game doesnt load. App opens, text box pops up with something about "try expert" and then never load. On Galaxy S8+
