✓ High privacy: No one can contact you unless you contact them first or unless you accept their Twitter, Facebook, email, or SMS invite.
* Optionally, share your location with selected contacts while you talk
✳ TIP: To send your location information to a contact, you must have the MAPS page open (tap TARGET button) when you send the HeyTell message. For privacy reasons, HeyTell does not send location unless you approve & have Maps open.
✳ Conversations can be saved & replayed offline, or deleted
✳ TIP: Long-press on conversations & individual messages to access extended View, Delete, and Export options.

✳ TIP: Back up your account so that you do not have to re-add friends when you change phones or update ROMs. To do this, exit HeyTell and enable the Backup options accessed via Menu > Settings > Privacy or Backup & Sync.
✳ TIP: If you can send messages to friends, but you are not receiving them, ask your friends to respond directly to you by tapping the active conversation. It is likely that the contact information they're using to find you doesn't match what you set for yourself and/or your privacy is higher. However, directly responding to the conversation should always work! :)
✳ TIP: IF YOU GET AN "INBOX FULL" message, there's no need to delete the app or messages: This just means that your friend has to listen or reply to the messages you sent before you can continue to send them messages. Once they listen or respond, you can keep on talking!
NOTE THAT CARRIERS MAY CHARGE YOU & YOUR RECIPIENT FOR SMS INVITES, but they're not required--email invites and direct connections to other HeyTell users using phone, email, Twitter, & Facebook are free!

have had this app for a while all was great. then it updated and i no longer get a notification when somebody contacts ne. plus now i have an icon at the top of my phone that when checked (thinking sombody contacted me) just tells me its active. grrr. go back to the irigional please or fix it. i went through everything pissible in ny phone and on the app to try and fix it no luck.
***Update: They fixed it!!! Thank you!*** Was 5 stars for the past 5 years. Last update broke quick access in status bar and ability to run in background as that was removed from settings option. We've loved this app for over 5 years. Please fix it.
I would love for there to be an account sign in - for when and if one gets a new phone or does a factory restore in their phone. Its a bummer when this happens and you lose all of your messages AND have to resend requests- Please add this option :)
Amazing, I love this app and have since highschool, but times are changing and I have a new razr phone, please try to make the app compatible with the front display when the phone is shut. If you can by any chance do this I will move this rating from 3 to 5

This app is really great beacause it uses low data. Im using it here onboard the ship and the data here is 50 mb per month. It ables me to talk to my friends. But i hope you guys can lower the data consumption more. Anyways, good job guys.
Been using HeyTell for quite a while, but since I purchased a new Samsung 9 can't run the application in background mode. Now missing most of my messages.
I've been using this app for a while now, and the review would be five stars except now I have to restart my phone every time I get a message if I want to hear it. The review will change if the problem gets fixed.
It used to work fine like yesterday now today when I try to open the app it closes right away. I need Hey tell for work and this is a very big inconvenience. Please fix your app quickly.
Good app used it back in the day now back to use again it would be sick tho if when you pressed the talk button it would sound like a walkie talkie also bought the voice changer add-on it's jokes ASF
I really do love this app! I'm wondering why at this point I'm not able to send or receive voice messages! It says hey tell is not responding.
It updated now no sound on notification. Great app. but now it's worthless. Please fix

dont know why everyone complains on the odd occasion a message wont come up with a notification but works well for what it is

when i talk to my friend they can hear my message instantly, when they reply to me i only get a voice message i want walkie talkie on both whats wrong?

Update: didn't seem to fix it at first but now it's working great thank you so much. Used to have this app and not this problem... Now I CAN'T CHANGE THE NOTIFICATION SOUND. the option in the app does not actually have an option. settings for app on phone are same. If the app is closed it uses ring tone sound not notification. The damn thing rings and rings until you unlock your phone and go to the app(cannot silence the ring like a normal call) .
