HIDIVE: Stream Your Anime and Stuff!

Lots of potential. 1.) Change the catalog to be a proper alphabetical grid, instead of dividing shows by letter and a horizontal slider 2.) Add fast forward/rewind 10 seconds buttons. 3.) Add the option to lock in desired video quality settings. With Funimation going away, HiDive has more room and potential to try to compete with CR. Please use the new customers and revenue (like myself) and invest in yourselves. HiDive is far from perfect, but CAN be a better streaming service.

I really wanted to give this a good rating to support more players in this space. But the video player interface is TERRIBLE. As a VIDEO STREAMING PRODUCT, it fails in the ONE THING it needs to get right. Play/pause button is tiny and in an awkward spot. The bar-only in-episode navigation can only be used by someone with baby fingers. Combined with the absence of skip forward/back buttons and a 'next episode' button, this gets an F-Minus for user experience. Even on desktop, keys only work if...

I thought there could not possibly be a worse streaming app than crunchy roll's, I was wrong. The only control that seems to work with any reliability is pause, most other controls often don't work at all. This is probably the only app I've come across that doesn't autoplay the next episode. Hey, but It does have the additional feature of removing the show your watching from your watch list, Yay!

This app is quite possibly the worst anime streaming app I've ever seen. The lack of ability to skip forward or back 10 seconds is a major problem as is the fact that you have to use the little play pause button in the corner of the screen but the hitbox for it is super tiny. Same goes for the hitbox for the back button to get out of full screen mode. Furthermore as far as I can tell there's no way to adjust video quality manually. Serious lack of features.

So the app is good and has great animes that are exclusive to it and I enjoy anime but this app needs just some work to make it better. One of the things that's really needed is a button to skip forward or back 10 seconds. It's just kind of a pain to go back and forth on an episode using just the bar. Also need to move the Pause button to the middle of the screen to make it easier as I feel it's in an awkward spot currently.

Well a 2.2 rating shows how obviously bad this app is. Shows buffer a lot making watching painful and there is no download option to get around that like on all the other services. The library is not easy to navigate. The video player itself is beyond simple in a bad way. Tiny play button in lower left and in upper right is mute and subtitle icons... No other controls at all. To skip forward or backward you have to drag video progress bar at the bottom and hope for the best.

I was excited to try this new streaming service since I saw there were quite a few exclusive anime this season, but it's been a massive letdown. I can't load a single episode on any device I'd want to watch on. The mobile app doesn't work (endless loading), casting to a chromecast doesn't work (endless loading), and the roku TV app doesn't even open past the log in screen. If yall are gonna have exclusive rights to shows, at least give me the ability to watch them...

My issues with the app stem from the fact that every streaming service I've used allows for users to skip 10 seconds ahead of the video, without needing to drag the tracker at the bottom of the screen. Also selecting a different audio option for every episode if you want the dub or home release version of that episode or series. Even Crunchyroll's different seasons for dubs or uncensored versions is better than what this app offers

The interface on this app is bafflingly terrible. Everyone else in the world has figured out how a streaming video interface is supposed to work, but the people who made this app have apparently never watched a YouTube video. There's no skip buttons, the pause/play button is a tiny arrow in the bottom left, swipe gestures do nothing, and there are basically no customization settings of any kind anywhere in the app. Plus the "home" page doesn't appear to be personalized at all.

App is okay, the titles are decent but the biggest problem is the video player. You can't skip to the next episode easily, and when you do open the next episode, you have to change the language to English every time if you want the dub. Not user friendly at all.

Horrible, just horrible... Your queue gets cleared often, the queue also won't show over a certain amount of shows. They have so many good shows, but it's such a pain to watch them it's not worth it. None of their apps including console apps are user friendly.

Only use this app if for some reason you can't just watch in a browser instead. It does work (most of the time), but it's definitely barebones and glitchy compared to most modern browser video players, so that's a far better experience that this app.

Videos skipping like a bad dvd. What the heck is with the poor quality over the last two weeks? I wonder if changing the quality to 360 or 480 would help. Guess I'll never know because, like a rewind and forward button, such basic functionality is missing.

Only plays for 20secs then it will get an "Playback error" until something different is played. Error will loop on all content in app. I was hoping to be an Internet problem just to find problem in different networks.

This app is basically unusable. Get maybe 2 or 3 episodes in before it has a conetion error and then says the app can't connect to the internet despite phone actively being connected or using data. Have tried unistalling and reinstalling multiple times but it doesn't connect for at minimum 24 hours

This app closes each time I cast an episode. The app will not reopen unless I stop the casting. I have reinstalled this app countless times. However, I keep getting the same problem. Is this a bug? Is anyone else out there experiencing the same issue?

Hands down out of all the streaming apps I've used this is by far the worst. Honestly, I think I'd rather just go through the effort of pirating the content instead and buy it on disc later because this garbage is so unusable and constantly is either loading, broken, or somewhere between. Great content hindered by a horrible user experience. To drive home how broken this garbage is: I literally got an error message that just said [object Object] and nothing else. Even the errors are broken.

I really want this app to work and be good, but it's not. I've suspended my subscription because it's not worth a single cent if I can't actually stream & cast the shows. If I don't see a major update to the software soon, I'll have to fully cancel.

Really expected this to be a new app with all of the complaints on here as well as my issues, but no, it came out in 2017. No sign-up options in app. Signed up on the official website, but the app still tells me my username and password is incorrect. Nice.

With crunchyroll taking over streaming in the US we have 1 other anime only streaming option...and that's hidive. Monopoly aside, this app isn't even half baked. I'm guessing Hidive doesn't have much of a budget and really wants you to watch on a browser to skimp on app development,but if it want to grow it MUST invest an solid app. It's as if hidive hasn't ever done any competitor app research..but again most likely it's just being cheap. Ahh the state of streaming is not looking good folks.

Great selection of anime. Trash app. It barely works on my phone. It constantly crashes on the xbox. I have to sit at my computer just to watch Yuki Yuna. I paid for an entire year! Why?!?!???

This service is horrible you can find a better free app to watch anime on the options in watch mode are just pause and unpause, no 10 sec forward or back you have to exit out to go to next episode this is just sad the there trying to get you to pay 5 dollars a month for trash service you can even make a favorites list and you can default your language so if your watching dubs you have to change to English ever episode, I definitely don't recommend this service unless you like to be mad

Think of the features you expect a streaming service to have. Hidive has none of them. Imagine watching a stream without buffering. Instead, hidive stops the videos entirely. Consider going full nights in a row where you cannot use the app. Hidive does have that.

They need to update their player with dastardly forward and back buttons but the picture quality is fantastic compared to even crunchyroll.
