Had an issue with the app crashing, reported to the team, fixed very promptly and good communication throughout. Reserving the 5* for when I've properly tested the app out in the field but from what i can see it's an excellent app with a lot of detail and great UI. Certainly a rival to guthook guides for the UK where they don't have as many trails covered.
Very cool app. Lots of good photos of the landscape, and easy to navigate. Gives you directions to the trail head, and being able to download the maps for offline use on the trail, with way points, and it's also got different options of routes you can take on each trail. Cool stuff!
I find this hiking app a great help, I believe it is constantly evolving and understand that as it progresses any issues are being addressed. I've contacted the developer on 2 occasions and am so impressed with the speed of replies ( within hours) and also speed of action to correct/alter issues. As far as I'm concerned this will be my "go to" app for hiking from now on. I really hope it goes from strength to strength.
Looks like a really well designed and useful app for included long-distance hikes. Should test it a bit further for more in-depth observations, but I have a feeling that my rating wouldn't change. Once this Corona s... is over, and normal travell is possible again, I'll certainly go for the top paid version - to get all the goodies.
The printable maps dont come with standard grid references, but instead latitude & longitude. Also each individual map is in a completely random scale and the contour lines become invisible once printed due to the poor quality / scale issue, making navigating with these impossible. *Edit to say I received a full refund. Good app if using on an electronic device only IMO. Good customer service*
They have just added the Te Araroa Trail... (north island) and i see that it's an old map. Every year they update that map on the website, but these guys are about 3 years behind. The trail according to this is going through closed parks. If these maps are not updated soon, there is a potential to get someone lost or even worse.
A fantastic app I've used it for three different trails limestone Way, coast to coast and the West Highland Way. being able to download the map is extremely handy combined with the GPS on my phone I was able to make corrections as I strayed off the trail (got caught in the Cloud/mist on the open Moors just after the 9 standard the way to keld) and helped me find accommodation when I got caught in bad weather. I'm currently using it to help plan the Pennine Way which I will be taking on in spring
The app I've been looking for! Full of very useful information and trails I wouldn't have found otherwise. Photography and accommodation info are very high quality. Please add more routes in Canada. Famous routes like West Coast trail and Juan de fuca are missing. Can't wait to buy more trail maps near me.
Update - 16/10/19 - Developer again looked into issue and solved. Now working fine on pixel 2xl and Android 10. App looks really great for backpackers. Am looking forward to trying out - Justwon' open on Google pixel 2xl. Crashes on opening every time. Tried uninstalling and reloading but still won't work 😭 Updated - Developer replied very quickly with an update to fix however still won't open on my pixel. Raised to 4 stars as I know people who say app is excellent. Also clearly good support. 👍
I wish I saw that practically none of the long distance trails in my country are available before spending $30 on this all 😭 I really can't recommend it in it's current state. At a minimum users should be able to upload data from other sources so the app is a least usable if the Devs aren't going to. All the more disappointing as there is a huge need for an app in this niche.
Excellent app that I use all the time when walking locally or out on trails. Very accurate in offline mode something which I have not found using other walking apps. Highly recommend this app. Currently using it as I walk around Jersey. Loads of great features that I have made great use of including point to point measuring and amenities, e.g. shops and bus stops! Give it a go and you will not be disappointed.
I love this app. It has saved me from getting lost numerous times. My map reading skills are basic so I love having a real time visual guide. You can plan an itinerary plotting towns, camping spots, water etc. Maps are downloadable so can be used offline. I'll never hike without it.
I absolutely adored this app from log in to log out! Magnificently easy to browse hikes for your suitability and preference, and I especially liked the handiness of the offline maps. Bravo to the makers of Hiiker! So easy to use, this app is a must download for avid hikers and occasional strollers like myself. Become fluent in stroll and download now to see for yourself.
If your slaying miles then Hiiker will be your best pal on the trail. Not only for navigation but also logistics, info from others who have been thru before you and the abilty to print off maps.. Such a great tool and i highly recommended it as it makes being on trail hella easier. Happy trails 🤙
App has a nice layout and feel. I can't fairly comment on using it on the trail as I haven't tried it out there yet. If the trail organization that manages the trails you want to hike offers an app or map for purchase please consider buying those before or in addition to this app as those organizations need the money to maintain the trails.
This app is easy to navigate and has great information, but it keeps crashing everytime I try to open the map, might use for short hikes if problem is addressed, but will not be using for long hikes incase of future errors.
Not bad...cant plan/ plot/ download/ upload routes wont help you navigate...viewranger is far better...but if its target is more the multi day hiker then I can see it's obvious benefits and great features changed to 5 stars😁 ...I only usually do day hikes in the UK thanks for replying Paul 👍👍
Used to be a good app. Not sure what happened the last weeks but now it keeps on crashing. Impossible to load maps anymore. Search function not accurate at all.
Used to be my go to app for hiking. Lost some of the trails in my area since last update, changed some colours not as easy to use. Very disappointing, a backward step.
Very cool app! Loved browsing it for ideas and planning. Question for the developers: I know of many long distance treks that are not yet listed (notably ones in Italy/Asia/South America), is there a way to suggest treks to add?
Seems well designed and useful. I'd use and keep it except for the constant advertisement push notifications. This absolutely kills any and all positive opinions I have.
The app is great. One thing it is missing though is information about post offices which would be very useful for people looking to send themselves resupply packages.
Handy little app! The developers seems amazing. Just from reading the comments they seem to reply within 3 hours, and fix an issues the same day. Is there any chance you will add Japanese trails? I understand the complexity of another language, you would probably need to implement trail names as both Japanese script and Romaji (Japanese spelt using English alphabet).
Fab app for planning longer hikes. Great ways to view the information (including GPX download) help with campsites etc. Just the job.
I'm having a very bad experience with this app. I like the interface, the measurement tool and the 'drop pin' functions. -Once, the app simply wouldn't start until l connected to the Internet. It had to update (it was up to date until then). Luckily, the Kungsleden is very well marked. Had it happened in Scotland and wish me luck. - Poor map: Lacks simple, important, details. Disappointed.
