Hate to resort to leaving a bad review, but Hilton, it's been over 6 months since the release of Android 12, and still Digital Keys are not working! The app consistently detects the presence of the lock, so it's not a Bluetooth problem overall, but when you try to unlock the door or elevator, it just spins and eventually asks if you want to try again. I've started traveling with a separate old Pixel 3 just to be able to open the dang door. PLEASE fix the Android12 digital key problem!!
The app is really good but it would be nice to have an option to provide feedback in the app for the hotel you're staying at. For instance my stay last night at Hampton Inn and suites in Reno was horrid. Probably not the entire hotel but room 100 is the worst. The hvac units are attach to the wall by the bed and vibrate the wall all night, so good luck sleeping.
App is not at all helpful. If I put in a city, looking for a hotel, it will give me hotels in cities which are quite far away. Then it will tell me those hotels are only about 10 miles away when they're actually about 2 hours away. The only way I would use this app is if I was desperate, had a map in front of me to see nearby cities, and there weren't any other decent hotels anywhere nearby.
Not sure it's working. it shows the same two rooms available on every floor. That's an odd coincidence (I should play lotto today!) or something isn't right. Also, app overlaps with the system status bar. I can't use the back arrow in the app because it invokes the system status drawer.
All good except the digital key. Kinda hit and miss. Been a few times I've been standing outside my room, after using digital key previously. Trying to get my room to unlock only to have it fail and I have to go back to front desk. If the key is not reliable it's not a valid feature.
Update - As if the 5/17/22 release, I am still unable to use the digital key. App has generally worked well in the past. Finding the digital key function not working at the past 2 properties. Each time had to go to the front desk for a key card. Hoping it gets fixed soon.
I have nothing but problems with the digital key 🗝. It just doesn't work. I tried in two different Hamptons. The staff at both Hamptons tried to help, but the digital key is managed by corporate. When the key 🗝 does not work, it has a choice to call for help. Yes, you guessed right - it tells you to contact the front desk - that is powerless to help. 😣 In both cases I got a non digital key - that worked. I also turned Bluetooth off and on. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app.
Good app. The only thing I don't like is how cumbersome it is to adjust searches. On the map it would be nice if there is a search this area feature when you drag to another area. I wind up using Google to find an area I might want to stay in a larger metropolitan. Also when typing in The Seelbach Louisville search didn't want to go straight there but plugging in just Louisville pulled it basically to the top. I will say the app works without hitches and Hilton has been wonderful.
App is pretry beneficial. Easy to use and contains a lot of information. Two things I'd recommend... it would be nice when looking at floor layout/choosing a room to be able to have more detail of the surroundings (external to the hotel). Secondly, once checked I'm, there doesn't appear to be a way to validate your room rate/etc., nor a way to view posted charges (until after final checkout). Overall a very good app.
I love this app! It is so convenient to always have your room key on your phone. Check in and check out is a breeze and completed with a click of a button. I love that the TV and heat can be controlled with the app. The things to do feature is wonderful and has plenty of local options for food, coffee, shopping, and attractions.
App is terrible. Stays won't show up, digital key never works. Had 3 stays so far and had to call Hilton honors 2 times to fix the information on the app and still is wrong stuff showing or not coming up at all. Not to mention, when doing early check in on the app, they have still canceled my stay and given away my room and had to scramble to get me in a room when arriving.
App is great and well thought out, but if you book solely for the option to check in contact less and use a digital key to get in the room with your phone, it did not work on my brand new samsung device. Very frustrated. Had to go to the front desk and check in, then get an old fashioned key card.
Pretty good, when it works, but one big flaw. When I try to sign up for points promotions while signed in, it takes me to the internet and makes me sign in again. After making me sign in again, it takes me back to the app and wants to verify my identity with an email code. When I leave the app to look at my email and return, the app resets the page it's on and I can no longer enter the code. This restarts the process in an infinite loop. Does that sound like a helpful or enjoyable experience?
Like the app overall and very easy to use. One suggestion tho, it would be convenient if user can easily find the exact address of the hotel search result. It is important to confirm the hotel address directly rather than name as Hiltons are everywhere (which is a big plus too)!
I love using this app. Its great to have especially if you do a lot of traveling. Able to book on the road and know it's going to be a good stay. You can add hotels to your favorites so you are able to rebook in the cities that you have been to and returning to. Easy check in and check out using the app and receipt emails.
I'm giving the app a 3 because so far the contactless check in hasn't been contactless. Opting for the digital key hasnt of yet worked for me because I still have to go to the front desk. Even though they have great service and an excellent staff, contactless check in should be contactless. With covid u can never be to careful. I'll happily change my review to 5 stars when the contactless check in is truly contactless.
This is probably the best stay that I've ever had at a hotel of any chain that I've used. Tru by Hilton was clean, modern, the associates were friendly and very helpful. I will definitely look for these wherever I travel from here on out. This app made it so easy to book ,to stay, and to check out it. This app gets 10 stars from me....
Makes checking in, getting keys, and checking out very easy. Not all hotels use this app it to the same extent (selecting rooms, digital key) but when you get a hotel that uses it all it's great! It's also nice to have a one stop shop for reservations and seeing your current point standing.
The app is easy to use. Hotel searches, room selections, and reservations are simple. You can add guests as well as special instructions to the reservations. Honors points are easy to apply and the totals are recalculated right away. Check in and out very easy as well.
Digital Key does not work on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. I can confirm that this is a bug with the app; the digital Key just spins green then shows an error. When I transfer the key to my iPhone 12 Pro it works just fine opening my room door. I'm a frequent traveler and have observed this issue at multiple Hilton properties around the country. Please fix the app.
This app makes checking in easy with the e-check in process. Also the digital key option ensures I don't lose my room access. Idk I like everything about this app so far. The only thing I have had a challenge using is I don't seem to get my Hilton honors discount when booking through the app. Not sure if I'm just missing something or if that is not available yet. No complaints tho.
From reading other reviews, apparently there is an issue between Android 12 and Digital Key. Whatever the cause, Digital Key doesn't work intermittently at best, and usually after trying repeatedly for 5 minutes or more. Please get this fixed; otherwise what's the point of the early check-in feature and bypassing the front desk upon arrival? The app also needs to be update the function of the button to call for help. It now routes you to a number that tells you if you're calling about a Digital Key issue to contact the hotel's front desk. Duh. Either take away the button, or cause the button to call the front desk for the property I'm at. App is fine for checking upcoming reservations, seeing property floor plan, and early check-in.
