Near perfect. Love the content. Stream quality is great, and even recent content. There are only 2 things I would want improved. 1 is publishing info. Like date the documentary was created (most important, as history changes as we learn and find more). Lastly the ability to rewind 10/20 seconds would be nice. Oh also slightly more diversity not only with presenters, professionals, but also in areas of history.
I love the topics and how all the videos are presented in a way where they always voice over or describe the visual details so you don't need to watch your screen like a hawk. It would be quite nice if there could be more playlists, organization of topics and eras, or whole series bundled together.
I love the content. My only complaints are captioning system, that mighy just be my tv but a subtitle system would be nice. And the Roku app, the browsing system isn't quite as easy as online. Other than that, honestly I LOVE this. I've learned more in the 6 hours of episodes then I have learned on any other major network system. Keep it up!
Love history. These little clips of 10+ minutes give you a taster of different periods of history. If you are interested in vehicles then you can see development of different vehicles. If you live in one particular part of the world and want to know about the history it's here. I have seen some interesting episodes on subjects I would normally shy away from. Have a look you won't be disappointed
Glad I came across the App , I was listening to history hit podcasts on Deezer when I looked deeper and downloaded the app. Then when I saw the content I just had to subscribe! Very happy so far!
I was excited to get the app but to call itself 'the netflix of history' at this point is a gross exaggeration! The amount and quality of programs is not quite what you would hope, although perhaps this will improve in time. There are also lots of audio titles but seemingly less video documentaries. It could do with auto play for series too. I hope it improves with time, I will stick with if for a while and it's worth taking a look with introductory deals.
History hit TV as a service is good. It is as advertised a "Netflix" for those who love history. It is not sensationalized for tv. The app itself has some problems and doesn't always work. Neither the service nor app save your place in a show. If it had "continue watching" and "my list" features as other streaming services have I would give it 5 stars. The content is good! Good enough that I can over look the app's problems and use a browser. It works on my Amazon TV, PC, and Phone.
Good content, I'm very much enjoying it. That said, downloading things to watch later offline has been a big issue. For some reason it takes forever to download a video (tested ca. 500mb compared to other platforms). Additionally, I've had 4 videos downloaded then refuse to play when I've tried to do so when away from any connection, which seems to defeat the point a little. Without these issues, it'd be 5 stars from me.
I love having something to watch about history but what's annoying is that you can't save anything to watch later. Sometimes I see something I want to watch in chronological order as far as history goes but can't save anything. You can download it but it shouldn't have to take that to watch something later. Also if you click a show to see info about it and go back it takes you to the main screen and you have to scroll through everything again. The podcasts and audio is not what we signed up for
This is a great repository of history documentaries. Aside from the tube that's for you, I have never seen so many documentaries about my favorite era, England from1066-1700s. The quality of the videos here far exceed that of the previously alluded to competition. I do wish the app was available for my Flex streaming TV device or PS4 though. I'm kind of bummed that I can only watch on my phone.
History series, audio, movies and able to stream to my tv. Wonderful content for a low price.
The variety of historical documentaries and presenters means that there is always something inspirational to watch.
I am loving this! Pretty sure I've had a history-gasm! All my favorite topics are right at my fingertips from Viking/ Norse to Medieval history, Roman and World War histories, it's all here!
Great content. Layout needs work, please just clearly mark what is a film or podcast.
Content is fantastic but the app and website could be improved. It would be useful if you could save a list of things you want to watch, or create a playlist of podcasts etc. Also it doesn't save where you are up to in a programme if you close the app or website in the middle of a programme.
Search doesn't work in the app which makes it very difficult to find videos on subjects that interest me.
App can be a bit problematic occasionally with downloads disappearing or won't play when off line but improving. Search process not the best if doing a general word search. History content is great with a wide variety of topics. The content makes up for the clunky but improving app.
The content is great. I'm a huge fan of any netflix for history! However I do have trouble with videos and sound. I often have to close the app multiple times in order to hear the awesome content! Especially if I've just watched a video.
Great content but no Chromecast support and app is not compatible with my Philips android tv. Basically I can only watch programs on my phone or computer which is not where I want to watch documentary programs. Please add Chromecast support, app for Android tv's and I still subscribe again. It's useless for me without way to watch programs on tv.
I am listening to an audio only episode yet app forces itself to get shown atop any other running app ... For no good reason ... It needs a setting to shut off ability to be rendered atop ... Also audio playback stops when I shut off phone display ... Please fix both of these bugs
The reason I am giving one star is because I recently upgraded my Android TV box to Skystream Pro which is Google certified but unfortunately I am not able to start History hit app. I purchased a one year subscription and cannot use it. I asked for a refund but never received a response. Unfortunately, you don't know if it will work on your Android box until after you your pay monthly or yearly fee.
So far, so good. I thought y'all were over exaggerating when it was promoted as "the Netflix of history documentaries". But sure enough, you have a background player and pop up player built in too. Aside from the application features, your content is well put together and highly intriguing, if I do say so myself.
Excellent app. Love casting with my Chromecast and also casting to my Google speaker. The app sometimes crashes so I'm knocking a star off. Also Dan snows history hit podcasts are too quiet. They need to be louder. Jacked my phone speaker up to Max and it was still quiet. All in all a good app. Hopefully will have more new shows and content soon.
I thought it would be videos documentaries NOOO ITS POD CAST!!!! Really!!! Its listing to hot bags!! I want to see history !! Getting my money back!!!.....
I usually don't leave bad reviews, this app is particularly disappointing. The selection is VERY limited, the main focus seeming to be medieval Europe (possibly the most boring history). Next to no content on India, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Africa, South America. Minimal ancient history. There are only a few shows. It's mostly full of podcasts and there is no good way to sort them. Searching is a nightmare. It's anything but "Netflix for History". Save some money and use your podcast app.
