This may be a funny toy that ought to be useful in many situations wireless. Only problem is that some connected devices are not very reliable so don't use it in critical environments! Some of my door sensors and AC power switches just stopped working after several months and I had to replace them physically. I also miss the possibility to connect cameras that allows me to stream video e2e encrypted directly to my own server in real time. Push messages use stupid American format - not so nice!
For those who say it's not powerful enough (with the pro) go try Hubitat or home assistant, that way you can give up your life, and devote it to trying to get stuff working. Both are good even great, if your one hobby is HA! Homey is trying to reach a balance between the power of Hubitat and the simplicity of smartthings. The homey pro has been 100% for the year I have owned it, smartthings not so much, Hubitat went in the bin (buggy and unreliable) Homeys hardware is ace! What's the bridge lik
App crashes on Android 12 OnePlus 10 pro Oxygen os, NE2213_11_A13 I can use the app for a minute or so then the app force closes to "desktop".
Really stable homey automation. The backup function should be free!
Having owned a Homey for a month now, I must say it is a big upgrade on the previous home automation hub I had. Due to its open nature and the wealth of standards it supports, it has enabled me to do more in terms of home automation than ever before. I can't wait till my next sensor-orders arrive to link them to Homey and create amazing Flows! The App is intuitive, user-friendly and visually appealing, having a clear overview of what I have in my house and which Flows I have set up. It is easy to access the settings, change them and also add another person to my Homey with the right permission level. Homey recently launched a web-interface (in beta for now), which I have already been exploring and gives nice insights and an easier overview of all the flows and devices than on your phone if you have a lot of devices. Conclusion: So far i'm loving the experience! It's been an enabler for me, and I expect it to keep doing so in the future. I hope to see the app and Homey software being developed further!
It still works, but the interface changes have made the app waay worse in terms of UX. why do brightness and warmth and rgb be separate pages? Why do I have to long press to enter the detail page of a device? The old app was way more organized. Also, swiping in these often works a bit wonky. The only positive point is that some pages look a bit prettier now.
The product looks nice and the irritating ring of LEDS is easy to switch off in the app. Using the interface is a disappointment as the flow offers only rudimentary programmatic support. Only IF-THEN-ELSE on a single level. And nothing like CASE to select more than two outcomes. The Hue app is a total mess. It stops working about once every second day. To efficiently use it, every usage of it begins with rebooting an and wait one minute for it to restart.
I don't know if the app update or the homey 5 update rendered the whole system useless, but I know for sure that it's broken. Takes between 5 and 10 minutes to react to any click on the screen. Sorry I couldn't give you less than a star. Update: Changed to 5 stars because it was a Homey app that made the whole system to freeze. After the developer updated the app everything is smooth again.
This app is useless. You install it , provide your confidential information then you are told you cannot use the app unless you get an invite code! If you want to get an invite code then get your friends to sign up too. It seems like a phishing scam to me. Please avoid this app.
Great to connect all protocols and brands. Easy to learn and to use, but still very powerful!
It's in beta, don't bother. Unless U want to join yet another waiting list. Wish they mentioned the beta thing before you go ahead with registration and waste your time.
I wanted to see if this would let me use a Philips hue lightbulb that was left in our home by the previous owners, but I couldn't do anything with the app because it's in a "closed beta" but they didn't tell me that until after they made me set up a user account complete with my email address and a password. Now they send me emails about an app I can't use.
At first sight the design looks nice, but because of the use of very small fonts it is almost impossible to read the text from devices, especial when they are turned off. The same with flows, small letters on a lot of empty space.
Considering the extremely steep price of the hub the app is proving to be a disappointment. This will not be my recommendation to those considering it. Unable to hide devices. Having twenty or so lights cluttering the dashboard is an eyesore. You can install a Group-app for easy control, but it is impossible to hide devices you don't access often. It is impossible to rearrange rooms and devices giving you no control of the layout. Only one theme, no true dark mode
The app is very unresponsive and do not follow Android developer guidelines making the UI unintuitive. Some examples: Switching tabs takes 4-5 seconds without any visual feedback giving the impression the app has hung. Swiping betwee panes requires you to swipe much further than normal often requiring 3-4 swipes to succeed. Editing flows carries no context and as most functions requires one for on and one for off i often find myself going back to check which flow I am currently in. Etc...
Doesn't mention it needs a hub to work. Setup doesn't even start without one. No thanks. In reply to developer's response: no, it was not clear at all. I had never heard of your product. Most people do not know what a "Homey" is. Including the words "Homey hub" might have gone a long way to solving that.
Finally everything connected and automated at home! I initially hated the idea of creating flows on my phone, but was quickly converted. If you can release a migration option to homey pro shortly that would be awesome!
3 months ago: "We have completely reinvented Homey as a free app for everyone." Today: I installed the app, was forced to create an account, but then can't use it because "Homey is still in closed beta." And I love the idea that Homey Pro can be used completely offline, just make an account first? Launched 3 months ago...still in beta. A few functions require account, so it's required for any use.
App works fine but it takes ages to start and therefore it's annoying to use phone to control device. Using a OnePlus 7 pro so it's a fast a phone as you can get pretty much so that ain't the problem.
Well, that's exactly the issue - it did not work when internet dropped although it was supposed to! I am using the phone app in same network with Homey on daily basis. It does not work.
Whole homey is waste of time and money. Dyson integration, gosund plugs and few other things not working. It's the same with tech support.
Only thing that bothers me is that if you're using the homey app.. And have switched with another app (Hue app). Should I restart the homey app because it no longer works effectively. Rest works fine :)
It's ok but would be better with dashboard to display values, graphs and buttons.
A steep learning curve but brilliant
I have a Homey for about 2 years now and it never had fail me. Of course sometime you are struggling to connect something or you want something not so easy, but in the end you will almost always find a way to make it work. Thank you Homey for making our lives a lot easier!
Joined the beta as the homey bridge looked interesting however as of right now it doesnt support roomba's or eufy products and it doesnt support the latest smart plug from kasa. All of these products were instantly found on Home assistant. I love the idea and i will come back if it can find as much stuff as home assistant of if they switched the underlying core to home assistant and just made it a better user experience.
