Does the job fairly well. Setup is terrible for non tech savvy people. Could use some improvements in the user interface, but the biggest problem we have found is geolocation function is very unreliable with it often not recognizing that we are home or away and, no easy way to let it know that we are home. It's a great feature, it just needs to 100% reliable.
It works fine but is very basic. You can adjust the thermostat setting, and that's about it. The geofencing option seems silly and prone to produce erratic results. It doesn't emulate all the programming options of the thermostat and won't, for example, let you turn the heat on if it's set to "off" at home. You can set up "Vacation Mode" which is equivalent to putting the thermostat on "hold." Can't turn off a hold remotely. But it does its most important job just fine.
Surprised to see so many people having problems with this app. Although I've only been using the T9 thermostat and app for about 3 weeks, I have had no problems. Everything has worked seamlessly, including geofencing. Love the usage graph feature, the ability to see who's arriving and leaving from home, and changing the temp or schedule from anywhere.
Constantly have to reconnect my thermostat to the app. Every few weeks my Lyric Thermostat disappears from the app and I have to reconnect it. This happens for no apparent reason. In the 2.5 years I've been using it I've probably had to reconnect it over 10 times. I never had this problem with the Nest I used to have at my old home. Even more frequently than that, it loses connection with Google. On top of that, I frequently have to try multiple times to set it up again. Update: I am tech support.
Extremely frustrating. I have been trying to connect my thermostat to the app for an hour and it always messes up at the end. When I'm connecting it to the 2.4Gz network, I get a prompt asking for it to connect to the Lyric network only for a split second and then suddenly it says the application exited the request or something. Then the thermostat acts like it worked, but the app just freezes on the home screen. Awful experience. I'll just keep using it without WiFi.
This app has a terrible user interface. There seemingly is no way to get from the home screen to the settings. (If there is a way, the app developers did a great job making this as non-obvious as possible.) Geo-fencing doesn't work either. Although I set it up together with a heating technician with a radius of 500m, the app claims that nobody is home when I'm standing right next to the thermostat.
The app is fairly functional and I would say middle of the pack for IoT apps. It has a decent interface and allows nearly full control over the thermostat. The login screen is frustrating sometimes because the fingerprint auth refuses to work. It's not an issue with the Android biometrics or a dirty fingerprint sensor, it seems to be with the app itself.
Worked fine for almost 3 years even though it makes me enter my pin # twice every single time which is stupid but I could live with it. Now it crashes with a dialog in the background that I can't respond to because of the stupid pin screen. There have been no OS updates or any other changes to my phone. Fix this now! If I had wanted an old style analog thermostat control I would have bought one.
Update to my previous review. After spending over an hour on the phone with support trying to get my thermostat fully registered onto the network (again), which included having to complete the process from a hotspot, This thing is finaly working. I suppose the app works okay, but there are many things about the communication system between the thermostat and the app that need to be improved.
Turns on and off without warning when its not even on a schedule. Changes temperature often on it's own without being on a schedule. If your power or internet is interrupted you basically have to uninstall and reinstall everything like it's the first use. Overall pain in the a☆☆. Customer service is of little use and basically just say it's a faulty unit but no assistance in filing for a replacement. I'll never buy another one.
The app does not work - it won't connect my T6Pro to my network. I get stuck on the screen where the app is supposed to show the list of local WiFi networks; instead it hangs then eventually tells me there's no internet connection. Worse, I emailed asking for help and haven't gotten any response in a week, even after sending a "can I get a response" email. EDIT - online support says Android drops the Lyric WiFi connection due to lack of internet. I maintain 1 star for being non-functional.
Just got the thermostat yesterday with a whole new heating system. Can't get it to connect to WiFi. It sticks on "connecting". One time, it went to "configure", but the app wouldn't work with it. Not looking for anything other than ability to reset temp when not at home. Very disappointed! Also, the whole process seems more complicated that it should be. Wasting my time.
Worthless Goes through setup, requires you to take your phone offline, connects only to the thermostat, downloads the thermostat settings, and then it takes you back to step one. Nothing is accomplished, the thermostat is not added or managed. The only option, attempting to break the circle by going to a home page, the only option is "delete your account". After trying everything else for an hour, that was the correct option. Just a waste of time.
All I can perform with this app is to raise and lower temperature. The screen freezes showing just the inside temp with a plus or minus symbol. At this point I need to close the app in order to move forward only for it to freeze at the same screen. I have uninstalled and re downloaded the app twice only to encounter the same problem. Poorly designed also. Not much you can accomplish in the menu except raise and lower the thermostat.
Absolute garbage. It worked fine until about a month ago. Now the app requires my pin along with my biometrics. Worst of all, the actual device is constantly disconnecting from my wifi. I have set it up four times and it stays connected for a few hours then it says the system is offline. I am about to rip this unit out of my wall and get a more competent and reliable device. Also, who ever is responding to these reviews, forward this on. I am replacing this after the new year if it is not fixed.
It's awful. The Geofence doesn't work and have had the heating left on for so long when not even in the house. Every time I use the app and come out of it for a reason I can't go back in as it has lost connectivity. So have to completely shut it and reopen again. The programming of the schedule is really bad too and really confusing. Over all not happy with it at all!!!
An fairly easy to use remote control thermostat, it also has built-in geofencing so you can literally leave the house and the heating turns off automatically, and when you get to within your own adjustable set radius from home, the heating will turn on again to pre warm your home. News Update. I have lowered it by one star 🌟 because it's failed a few times to keep me logged in, and so I've had to log back in again to enable me to adjust the temperature and or settings from off my phone.
Once it's setup it's nice & convenient. But the fingerprint sign-in pops up for literally 1 second. If I don't get my finger there quick enough I have to type in my PIN. Usually I have to type the PIN twice cuz it doesn't recognize it the first time for some weird reason. So 8-9 out of 10 times I have to use the PIN instead of the fingerprint, & 6 out of 10 times I have to do the PIN twice. Not a big deal, but it's a weird bug in the app. Other than that I like it. It was a pain to setup though.
I could not get the T9 to connect to the app, it appears I may have just been standing too far away from the thermostat. If you're having issues get closer and when it sees it you'll get a four digit number to plug in and after that all should be good. This app crashes or claims no internet much less than older versions. Have had a few issues with inaccurate satellite temp readings change batteries regularly. They need to correct the way multiple thermostats are read leads to heat shutoff
Set up was quite easy, but you need to disconnect mobile data to complete the installation process. Thermostat is very easy to program and was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to different temperatures for different times of the day, which this does easily. I would give 5 stars if the app had the ability to show historical data that shows actual room temperature against programmed temperature schedule (and also to show when the boiler is heating).
