Every HOOKED story is told as a bite-sized text message conversation, as if you were reading someone else's chat history.
We love reading, just like you, but we know it can get BORING when stories are too long. So we created this app to make reading snappy, spooky and fun.
Drawing on the long tradition of epistolary literature, like Bram Stoker's Dracula, HOOKED stories unfold through back-and-forth conversations.
If you can't get enough of books like Hunger Games, Divergent, The Fault In Our Stars and Harry Potter. Or if you're a fan of Wattpad fanfic, like stories about One Direction. Or if you just can't put your Kindle down at night. You will love HOOKED. And even if you're not a big reader, but you love Snapchat, you should give HOOKED a try!

Stories are alright, but for all of them 30 seconds in, app requires you wait 15 minutes or subscribe for $15 a month (Netflix only costs $10 a month and has a great deal more content). Would have been better with ads than this setup. All things considered, I'm a little disappointed. Edit: had to go from 3 stars to 1; it keeps trying to make me watch the same episode I've already seen (and o didn't really like it then). Won't let me skip it, either. This was a great idea, but poorly executed.
2 stars bc the short film I was able to watch (Life of the Party) had a good plot and production quality. Unfortunately, it was the only one I could watch as there was no home page or back button & the same thing just kept replaying. I tried for a week with no luck, until I canceled my subscription and uninstalled. I really wanted to like this app, it's a good idea and their commercials are phenomenal. I'll try it out again in a few months or so to see if they were able to work out the glitches.✌
I like hooked, its really cool! But sometimes its annoying not being able to see the image unless you pay or waiting 15 minutes between "texts''. Dont get me wrong, I know that's how the creators get paid, I am just stating my opinion. Another thing you might want to consider is allowing readers to switch the plot (scary, romantic, etc.) throughout the game once they are done with a story. Overall though, I think I really like the app!
Overall, the "new" Hooked isn't worth paying for a subscription or even watching free. It's not as good as the previous version, which was 3-star at best. The pros: (1) The stories have excellent production quality. The cons: (1) No freedom to pick stories to watch. It just plays video after video. (2) Only a "pause" option, no "rewind." (3) One story was random & didn't include texts. So - I'd been looking forward to reading Hooked again, but because it's disappointing, I've uninstalled it.
Terrible, in the stories photos are sent, but you have to pay for a subscription to be able to view them. Also even if you try to enter you card number it always says that it is invalid or expired although i know for a fact my card is just fine and that the system is messed up! And you cant even finish half the story before it stops and says you have to pay to continue. This app is terrible, it needs an update. If these problems were fixed it would be a great app! The storys are intresting!
Once I opened the app, it asked what type of stories I preferred. After I selected one of the two genres available, it automatically played the video (with no 'skip' option). About 10 or 15 seconds into the video, a pop-up appeared offering a subscription to the app. I declined, and the ad went away. As soon as I pressed that play button, the same ad appeared, and this process repeated until I gave up and tried reinstalling the app, thinking it was a glitch, but I had the same problem again.
I was very intrigued by this app , it was very convenient to have the audio. However due to the weekly cost and after I discovered that very very few of them offer the audio feature I decided to cancel my subscription. I would have loved to have kept it if at least the majority would offer audio, but the weekly price is ridiculous! You can get a month of Hulu or Netflix for less than that.!
I really enjoy the stories and I'm not even bothered by the brief 5 minute wait time every so often. The only thing that's getting on my nerves is the glitching. I was through 8 chapters of a 10 chapter story and now it won't let me open it. I keep getting this "an unexpected error occurred. Try again later" message and it's really annoying. It happens on certain stories and it's really irritating.
The stories are good and I enjoy them. Only a few problems.. almost every time I try to start this app on my tablet it keeps going to life of the party and I can't exit it out so I have to wait the 20 something mins for it to end before I can start a new story. Also you have to wait to continue after a certain time unless you spend money which refuse to do. If these issues are fixed it would be a great app
The app is great. The storytelling, or in another sense the story is narrated by the people in the storyline telling the story of what happening. But, so far on the first round I started having problems with the app on one of the episodes. The audio on here starting to get all out of whack and sounds like it was smash two to three sentences all in one shot. I will still be checking this out until if it gets too outta hand, then I take it off.
the stories are really good! But every few pages the story pauses and you have to wait around 15-20 mins to be able to read more plus you cannot view any images unless you pay. I do understand the app needs to make money somehow and uninterrupted reading and being able to view the images that go along with the story is a great incentive. However, $5 per week or $15 per month etc is a bit steep.
Ugh. Seriously? The stories are good but the money issue is ridiculous. If you're gonna make people wait 15-20 minutes between stories, have ads, and not show pictures, then don't make this app free in the first place!!! Jeez. Also, when I opened the app, it showed me the Trever and Martha story. I really liked it, but after it was over, it played again and it WOULD NOT let me exit out of it. I couldn't go back or go foward, therefore I had to uninstall and re-install the whole app.
Horrible App! I couldn't even play it for more than 2 minutes! So when you first enter the app you get the video. And so as soon as my time runs out for having it free until 4 minutes pass, I can't get out of full screen! I got outta the app and closed it out, but when I came back, it was still in full screen!! Ridiculous! I do not recommend this app unless you enjoy crashing apps
Downloaded this after seeing an ad. It was very intriguing so I wanted to hear more. Overall this app is not good. It isnt like the ad that shows you pictures without paying nor does it give you the full story without having to wait 15 mins after listening for about 2. It's pretty much forced premium when they could've just made money off adds. Uninstalling for now because I'm not planning on waiting 15 min.
It said I didn't have internet and so I got off the app and when I went back onto the app it put me back at a part in a story I already read, I am a little bit annoyed because I was almost finished with the story. Thats my only complaint, though. This app has awesome stories. Edit: I had to reread most of the whole story but it crashed again! It said my internet is unavailable at the same part but I checked it and its fine.(The story is called Dark Matter) It keeps crashing on that story.
Been seeing ads for this pop up on YouTube a lot. Often tend to have fairly gripping beginnings, so I decided to give it a try. Don't make the same mistake. This app is a waste; you don't even get to pick which story to read, and it makes you wait 15 frickin minutes after a certain point. Any images in the chat are blocked unless you pay a RECURRING SUBSCRIPTION. Like...no. I just wanted to finish the stories in the ads. It's a waste of your time, and, potentially, your money. ~Sobi
I remembered having this app a few years ago, and it was decent for scary, text style stories. I saw an ad on Youtube for this app, and decided to redownload since I recalled fond memories of the scary stories. Well, just as everyone else seems to have said, it immediately started playing a video, then after 5 seconds told me to buy a subscription or wait 15 minutes, with no way to get to a home screen or menu options. NOT the app I remembered.
Not what it used to be. I decided to download the app again, however once you open it and make your selection from scary or romantic it plays the same video (that is 23 mins long) over and over. You cannot skip, fast forward, or anything literally just pause. There is not a menu on the app either so you dont get to see the other content in the app just the same fricking video. I am very disappointed in this app. It was once a source of entertainment for me however now it doesnt work at all
Terrible app. The download is free but once I opened the app it automatically showed me an ad for premium. I spent about a minute trying to find an exit button of some sort but eventually came up with nothing. I wanted to download this app for a YouTube video but I was very disappointed. I downloaded this app a while ago and although it let me in without the ad it was still terrible. I didn't have a choice of what I read/watched and there was an ad after every chapter/scene. I do not recommend.
This app is garbage. The whole purpose of it is to give you a jump or a romantic story, but in order to view the pictures that are their, you have to pay just to see them. Most people can look past that but it gets annoying after a while. Then after a certain amount of time of reading, you have to wait just to be able to read the story which can lead to about 20 minutes of waiting just to continue on. This app had souch potential, but is crushed by the purpose of gettig some money.
I've had the app multiple times before, and have enjoyed it. But this time around, the premium option doesn't allow me to skip it. And, whenever I press the back button to escape it the loading screen pops up. Not bad. Not bad at all. Except it NEVER loads. It just stays loading. So I can't enjoy any of the stories. I hope the devs can fix that soon. I'll change my review once it has been fixed.
