App only functions if there is an internet connection. I live and reload rurally so I don't always have an internet connection, and don't always have good service in buildings when I need to look up data. It needs to download all the data so it can run offline. It is useless to me 50% of the time. I didn't pay for 50% usability.
Great app, have their hard copy as well which is also great, this app let's you always have the reload data at your fingertips. One small issue, couldn't renew after my first subscription expired, kept getting 08 error expired card, I think the problem is that the card did expire and that data was kept to auto renew which failed, when I put my new card in with the same number but new expiry date it was still linked to expired date. I used a different card & it renewed no problem.
The app works well, but I got it after seeing my hornady book didn't have load data for a 90 or 103 grain ELD-X for the 243 win. Sadly this app being four years newer than the book still doesn't even list those bullets for that caliber. I find this especially frustrating because they sell a factory loading in the Precision Hunter line of 243 win with a 90gr ELD-X. I'm just very disappointed that they don't cover all their possible caliber/bullet combinations.
Seem like a nice app to have. But when you already own the book and most load are available for free online. It seem like a waste of money. Like 20$ a years subscription. When the book is 20$ and single load 1$ Unless you reload 20 new cartridge a years. That is for sure not a deal. Sadly hornady i own one of your press and a lots of your accessories but that one is a big fail.
Had this ap 3 months, now I get alot of error messages, doesn't function properly. I'm looking up load data online. The offer promised to send me a hardback manual. Haven't seen it yet. Hornady bullets are top of the line! I've shot the XTPs since they first came out. Think I'll shoot this ap with one of them.
It's alright, information wise it's great. BUT it's a little hard to navigate at first until you get the idea of how they have layed it out, unfortunately the layout makes it hard to double check and reference while actually reloading.
This is a decent app. Will give you the information you need and is handy. Could be much easier to use as other reviews have stated, but is a very functional, accurate source of information. Saving favorites only saves for the caliber, not the specific load. Should update app to include the things people are saying they want, then more would purchase.
This app is very handy. One downfall is you need the internet to open the app. If you are in a spotty area I suggest you screen shot the important data and keep it saved on your phone. The app is up to date and easy to navigate.
App plauged with bugs. Various images fail to load limiting usefulness of app. Unintuitive navigation. Easier to use printed book than app on mobile device. Email sent to product support with bug reports, hopefully they can resolve issues, not holding out much hope.
Can not access any data offline. Purchases 5 calibers and can not view any information without a fast internet connection. When offline, accessing the notes and range data is constantly interupted by " No internet connection" message. My range is well out of cell service and trying to record anything in this app is near imposible. Would give 5 stars if it had offline access to the information and didnt link everything to their online store.
Have installed twice. There is nowhere to create an account. Only asks for you to log in. Created an account with hornady elsewhere but cannot use to login. When try to reset password ( tried 4 times) using link sent to my email address. Only states password or account is wrong. Surely there should be an option to create a new account or login when app opens.
I have paid for this subscription and used it for years. Now it will not open or load on my phone nomatter what I do. Even deleting it and reinstalling. It keeps saying error on the edition and only shows edition 2 as available. Still get an error when I choose that
The app is free to download but you have to buy the load data. So yeah... also crashes. That's always fun. All of the load data is free online so really this app is completely useless. I'm very sorry to post this because I love Hornady and their products and most of their stuff is beautiful. I HATE it when something is advertised as free only to find out later... it's not free. This is why I took the time to voice my opinion on it.
Well I this use for Long range shooting and the ballistic charts are near to what is needed for the shooting that I experienced. In addition I reload for numerous cartridges. Plus if you use a different brand of bullet it's here for your utilization .
I would likely use hornady bullets, etc., if the data load purchases could be paid through Google play. I don't want to enter my credit card info in every app I download. Defeats the purpose of safely loading funds to reduce theft/fraud. I'll come back if you catch up.
App works great, when it works. I've had to Uninstall and reinstall several times and get errors every time it opens. Also expensive, having to pay every time you want load data for a new cartridge.
The dirtbags at Hornady tell you it's free, and it should be when you are obviously buying their bullets and therefore need load data specific to their bullets. But then I go and choose a caliber to grab load data on, and they want $0.99 to access each caliber. That's right, not a one time purchase for all of the load data on their supposedly free app, but $0.99 for each caliber that you will need load data on. Thanks for helping out the customers who buy your bullets Hornady😡
I shoot matches from 300 to 1,000 yards. We often have days with high winds , this app is very specific and will put you on paper at 1K with a 25mph wind. First time on the Range this amateur looked like a seasoned pro ... Must have .. A bit slow to log into, and lots of variables to enter.
I downloaded this app in hopes of finding reloading data on the 68 gr BTHP Match #2278, for my .223. I purchased the $.99 single caliber and found out that their weight list only goes up to 62 gr. I really like the idea of this app, but Hornady needs to at least list load data for bullet weights that they are producing.
Works well and is a good resource on the fly. If you do not have a decent source of published load data, you might as well get this. Pay $20 for this entire app and will also get a physical copy of next years manual also! Win-win!
Installed app hoping to use as a reloading reference. Found that it would cost $20 a year to subscribe and receive load data. To me it makes more sense to buy the load book and have it forever, than subscribe to the service.
It's fairly straightforward. Could definitely be a bit more straightforward to navigate but all the info is there once you find it. I am however having some technical issues rendering it completely unusable. Not thrilled considering I pay for full access to all reloading specs.
