- For some people it does (it depends on how that protection is implemented) but this is not what the app was made for. It's no use complaining that it doesn't do this for you. This app is designed to circumvent some issues when setting up a *local
* hotspot so your devices can communicate with eachother, *not
* with the internet (though that also works on several devices).
You can configure the access point (hotspot) name and password, encryption used is alway WPA2 AES + TKIP, to keep it simple.
On some devices that do not have a cellular data connection capability (like the Nexus 10) the hotspot will not give out IP addresses
- the app will auto-detect this situation and fix it, but root is required for that option. Note that without root on these devices, the connected devices can still communicate if you configure their IP addresses manually, but that is something for the advanced user.
I personally need this to create a private network (even without a SIM, and thus without an actual *internet
* connection) in the field between a number of my devices. Some genius at Samsung decided that my Note II shouldn't create an access point if no SIM is present
- I beg to differ! Maybe someone else has use for this as well.

it actually works!!! tried about 6 of these apps on my ZTE powered by Simple mobile, one way or another this app did the trick! havent tested to see how strong of a connection/speed yet but ill make sure to update. Good work folks!
Hoping app would allow better "control" of hotspot on an Android phone but it failed to even toggle the hotspot on/off. After installing the app, learned their is no option for user/connection control, (e.g. white/black listing, blocking, etc.)
This definitely won't work on API 26 and above. So why i give 5 stars then? Because i believe this app would work well on API 24 and below. It's not the app mistake, it's just impossible to invoke personal hotspot programmatically on API 26 an above. Google has improved the android security it self. Preventing developers invoking personal hotspot programmatically. For everyone who give 1 star, you just don't know how to code. The end. Thank you.
Thank you for your time and effort with so many useful apps. You deserve a five star review every time. (For everyone else, this app failed to work on my ZTE Blade spark, no sim, AT&T 7.1.1.....time for a new phone)

fantastic, really. but i have a request and i know this is a specific use case. is there anyway i can enable AES encryption only. i know this is less secure but i meed it for a project
There's no toggle for mobile hotspot at all in this app. Most of these hotspot apps including this one are a load of baloney, period.
Could not enable access point using Q-Link. Q-Link's fault, not this app's.
Exactly what I wanted. This is the best app to turn on hotspot for devices with no simcard.
Nice app, But can you add Bandwidth Limiter feature?, Maybe it can be usefull for some people

literally just turns off the wifi when you wanna enable the hotspot lol
Beware, this app does not have the option to enable WPA2 security
Can u give the option of auto start this application with boot and auto on the Hotspot with boot? or auto start with any preset setting
