The Hawaii Public Radio App allows you to listen to HPR live, pause and rewind the live audio, and view the program schedule all at once! You can explore On Demand content, search for stories, bookmark a story for later, and wake up to HPR with the alarm clock!
Live Streaming

Similar to many of these NPR apps they just mysteriously turn themselves on out of the blue if you have them operating in the background of your Android phone. I don't know of many apps that randomly operate for no reason.
I absolutely love Hawaii Public Radio! This app? Not so much. I use an Android device and it consistently cuts out, more so listening to a stored podcast like Fresh Air than live broadcasts, but neither is completely uninterrupted. Removing and re-installing the app and restarting my device does not help. For example, during a one-hour listening period it will cut in and out 4-10 times. I put up with it because I love HPR!!!
Unpredictably, programs and podcasts drop in the middle. Then you have to start over from the beginning. It's very frustrating.
I love HPR! My only complaint and its actually pretty annoying is that it turns off when my screen closes! And my screen closes every 10 min! I cant keep it open longer. So if I'm washing dishes or doing something else I will miss part of the program until I can open the screen again.
Content is wonderful ! BUT Streaming cuts out very frequently, and requires technical attention.
Love being able to hear Hawai'i Public Radio whenever I like. But there is no way to stop it once started. There is no way to log out. Closing the window? The programming continues (on both Android and iPhone apps).... Only work arounds I've found: Turn off the phone or uninstall the app, reinstalling it when I want to hear HPR1 or HPR2 again.
Majority of the time, the app just stops playing. Really frustrating!
I love and support HPR but unfortunately the signal drops frequently on my Android phone or the app closes down completely. Very frustrating to where I stopped using the app. Please find a way to stabilize the app. Mahalo.
The app does not cast well to smart speakers. Consistently won't play.
HPR is great for local/national news and more. The app is spotty and often pauses or disconnects. I've installed it at least five times.
Cuts off streaming frequently. Very difficult to turn off -- comes back on hours later for no reason. Reviews show these same complaints have been made by others for a long time.
I have a problem with the app stopping every few minutes and don't know why. Hit Pause, then Play, and it restarts.
App working great! I use it during my travels out of the country. It functions well on 3-4 G LTE as well as on Wi-fi.
I love public radio but this app is a little erratic. Often times, programs on demand are not available. And streaming frequently cuts out.
This is an unbiased and well organized source to be informed as to what is happening across the world, the USA, your State as well as locally. Additionally, there are often presentations of human and scientific interest.
Love the access to archives of various national podcasts. However, app uses too much power.
Great organization and great app
Have listened to KHPR from day one. Am thrilled that I can access the classical music world without a problem on my smartphone.
Needs to remember where one left off or provide a fast forward button. Needs to work with Android auto.

I dont like the way it keep trying to turn on my wifi. Very invasive.
Feed drops and needs to be restarted every time it switches from WiFi to mobile data. When stream is paused it restarts at random. Stream stops randomly and app needs to be restarted.
