Right now I'm rating this 3 and will update accordingly depending on my experience going forward. I had connectivity issues as many have described. The solution was to connect to the drive wifi and then turn off cellular data. Doing this allowed me to connect to the camera module. With the drone on my lap and phone in my hand the was extreme transmission delay. I do not know how much of this was my phone as opposed to the drone but it would be nice to run lower res as an option.
Ive had the Holy Stone HS110D for about a year now, the app is a bit buggy sometimes it connects sometimes it doesn't, but overall if I keep turning it on and off and having my phone very close to the drone, I can always connect. Im using a Samsung Flip 3. The only thing that takes forever to calibrate is the GPS it takes some time to load up all the way. Overall its a good drone and app for beginners don't expect too much of the app if it has problems connecting to the camera just keep trying
Pretty good. Works fine with Samsung Galaxy S10 plus. Only concern was the flight path. At first wouldn't load but realized I was calibrating wrong. Once fixed, its hard to select the flight path and doesn't give you a legend to see what each symbol means. Never have gotten it to work 100%. But overall pretty good app. I fly HS270.
Another 1 star for a stupid app that will not work properly. Its not a phone, controls, or user problem, rather a company in Holy-Stone not being accountable to propery maintain this app or be available to provide support. Bravo Holy-Stoned and those higher rated reviewers are higher!
Wouldn't connect to my phone. They convinced me it was something that I had done to the drone in the 6 months I had it. They gave me a discount to by a new drone. 10 percent. No warranty repairs for me... I get an hs270. Wasn't I shocked to find this crappy app won't connect to the new either. I'm on it's network. Connected. Just that the app does zero. Thanks alot
App used to work but now DOES NOT! Camera signal fails to connect to Samsung a10e through the app. It worked well for about 30 days. Not sure if the update had something to do with it or what. Gonna try a different company. Too many issues with Holy Stone products. Was flying the HS 270. I'll change my rating once the app works like it did before!!!!
This app works great with theDee RC22. No complaints. Ok I don't usually leave reviews, but I was really impressed with the drone and the app. Thanks Holy Stone.
Works as described. Would like to have more options for configuration like unit of measure from meters to feet and the ability to hide things like VR. Otherwise it works. Update 11/26/2019 Update today was 98mb but you don't provide details on the update which is alarming. I don't understand why you are not listing the information pertaining to updates.
Worked ok when I first got it, usually connected just fine, but now it just straight up doesn't work.
App works fine. Not sure what all of the problems were. So far this is a great drone, Samsung friendly as I am using a Samsung Galaxy S9, quality is great and requires practically no skill or effort to set up the app. I am using the 120d and have had it for just under a week. A little laggy at times, but overall a good app. Hopefully it lasts!
Video feed back was sort of laggy. To be expected with though. The interface is sort of all over the place and yeah it's sort of self explanatory but I wish they made the UI a little cleaner. Besides that everything worked fine no bugs at all. I have the DE25 drone.
It worked perfectly fine for about 24 hours. But it's like buying car. You get a lemon... And after reading the reviews it looks pretty common. The app stops showing the camera live, unable to take or record pictures and video. Unless the app needs an update the drone I purchased was factory defaulted within 24 hours.
The app won't update anything on screen after trying to connect to the drone. Customer support was not helpful, just sent me a link to a YouTube video and the basic steps in the video. The controls' screen never updates, and still shows both the controller and drone batteries at empty, even though they just came off the charger.
Can you add another feature for VR: To detect phone gyro movement and to translate this to camera movement. Ex: move head to the right/left, the drone moves to the right/left. For up and down movement of the head, move camera up and down (if possible/ if not, than move the drone to simulate camera movement). So basically translate the phone gyro into the controls from the right of the joystick.
This is the easiest drone to learn to fly. I couldn't be more impressed with the value and actual cost of this drone. This app. Is what helps to make th pioleting experience easy and fun and the video captured during flight is amazing there isn't anything negative to say about this app at all.. thank you for developing this app for my drone and understanding what a rookie pilot needs and wants
Cant seem to save new settings after beginner mode is turned off. Just keep perpetually saving, cursor goes around and around. Camera connects and app connects to drone. Will update if I get the saving issue fixed.
Really nice app and everything is working great so far, using it with the HS-120D on a old LG-G4 phone with custom ROM/Software, the WiFi, Video/FPV feed will drop due to it's limited range which is understandable, Overall a great app that works well and does what it says.
App was working fine with my Galaxy s7 but for some reason it started freezing each time I take a pic with the 270 drone. Believe it was some update to the app that made it not work properly, but Holystone said that since I bought it 3 months ago they were no longer responsible for support! Lol
Works great with Galaxy S8. I do wish the software came with an altimeter though. Also, the quick start should be able to be viewed in portrait mode. Other than that it's snappy and works great with my HS120D
Dear everyone that uses this, Hello! Thank you for leaving 1 star reviews for stupid things! I have read some of your reviews and i think i can help. First off, some phones dont work, and if it does, the way to get to see your drones camera is by tapping on controls. Second, to the free battery person, the reason that they want you to rate it on amizon is because thats where most people get it. They dont really care where you got it, and thats not a problem. -The player group
I think this is actually quite good because I can tell how much work they put into it but the thing I don't like is that you have to have internet to use the camera and you can't use it anywhere basically everywhere only like we have Internet
Samsung Note 9 connects to WiFi, but the drone status/video never shows up in the app. I tried disabling mobile data, and made sure all app permissions were approved. Tried it with two different phones, same result on each.
I have a Note 8, video from drone to app is about 10 feet, then it loses the feed. Will continue to record, you just can't see it on your screen.
Simple to use and works well. Taking off a star as the Quick Start Guide opens in portrait when the rest of the app is in landscape
Installed the app to fly and use my drone. It worked one time. I've tried repeatedly, it will not connect with the drone/camera. I can uninstall, then reinstall and it will work one time. They need to fix or buy this drone back.
The app could definitely use some work, especially in the areas of pairing and the logistics display. The 120d is such a popular drone, especially if you collect HS drones. Holy Stone, please do not abandon the loyal purchasers of the 120d!
Works much better on Iphone. Only certain functions work on Android. Crashes in use when plotting flight path.
Overall it's good. Trying to figure out how to get it out of beginner mode. Seems you have to do that every time I fly it. With only 13 minutes per battery it takes time away from flying.
