Update 2 The app still doesn't work and nothing has changed and it is now a year later Update app is now unusable The cheque deposit feature is broken to a degree that it has crashed my phone 3 times The software issues have persisted for months now with no resolution or improvement. If online banking is how you prefer to bank . Go to a different bank.
Garbage app no banking app is as stupid as this. Doesn't make an icon on my phone i have to come to google play to choose the app.I can't send e transfer without activating a security feature I can't activate it because it is not accepting my codes i get from them and doesn't allow me to complete the 3 easy steps because they want to make life difficult. I can't take screenshots which is nonsense every bank app allows it. I might go bsnk to the bank and close my account this bank is worthless.
Completely useless for mobile cheque deposit. Before the Mar21 update, the app can successfully read the front of the cheque but not the back. Now, it's even worse in the sense that it can't read either! Fix your app HSBC. This is a huge embarrassment. UPDATE: In my review above, I pointed out a major flaw in the App. HSBC responds with a link to contact them???? They do not acknowledge the issue, nevermind provide reassurance that it will be addressed. Highly unprofessional response.
Update: HSBC still havent fixed this- even w/ latest app & S21 phone. Depositng cheques doesn't work anymore. You take front of cheque pic, you thought "oh good, it finally took the pic by itself after 20th try." But nope, the app decides to flip the orientation to portrait and back to landscape by itself. In doing that the app loses the memory of that pic taken! Tried every which way of depositing and it doesnt work. Other bank institutions' app works flawlessly. I feel embarassed for HSBC.
This app is honestly bare bones, sure, it let's you check your balances and move money... but good luck trying anything else. It's a shame, coming from BoA and Chase apps, this one leaves a lot to be desired. I mean gof forbid you'd want to pay your credit card balance straight from the credit menu, right? You have to write down the amount, go to transfers, pay a bill, select your main account, then the credit account, the write the amount down yourself and then pay... come on.
The application would not allow global transfers for Premier and Advance clients. The only way to do a global transfer is through web browser on the computer, which is very inconvenient if you are on the go, travelling or don't have access to a computer. The application is very primitive in general.
Simple home screen. not like Scotia And TD bank applications. I believe this is too simple and needs to be upgraded with a new look and features
Basic thing, such as e-deposit, does not work. I spent 30 minutes already on this simple task already. I am sooooo frustrated
This app is simple to the point you can not make almost anything. They should really improve the app. I have other banks and I can do much more stuff and in a simpler way. 1/10
It is garbage. I try use mobile deposit. It always take me lots of time to take pictures. With same cell phone, it is very easy to me to deposit cheque with app of BMO, TD .
Since upgrading my phone to a Samsung S21 5G Ultra running Android v12, the cheque deposit feature (the actual taking of the picture of the cheque) no longer works reliably. For me, this is a big problem!
Photo deposit is so bad! No manual button like most banks and won't identify the cheque. I have multiple bank apps and this one is the worst
Great bank. Easy to use the app on your phone. Excellent customer service. I am happy with the HSBC performance. 🇨🇦👍🏻
App can't even deposit a cheque properly. Stop allowing the app to take a picture of the cheque before I can align the frame! And why does it keep asking me to verify the amount on the cheque matches the deposit. The most simple banking functions don't work in this app!
This app is horrific. The software for mobile cheque deposits is outrageously bad - hardly ever registers text and never lines up when taking photos. Consistently crashes as well.
The cheque deposit has not worked for over a month now. It does not allow you take pic or save the pic taken. It is not stable release of an app. Why was there no QA done prior to the release??? Why is there no fix??? How long does one have to wait for a patch????
my card wouldn't work at Lowes. Phoned HSBC customer service twice. Could not resolve issue. Had to etransfer money to friend so he could make purchase for me. Took more than an hour.
I have been using there app for quite some time and they have improved a lot. This app definitely has all the features I use and more. Good job to the designers and programmers!
Terrible recently as i can barely deposit a cheque. Have tied more than 10 times and still says to verify the amount. Hard to take picture as the auto snap is not working. I finally gave up and used RBC app.
Difficult to reset the password with one that I have not used before and contains letters, numbers, upper/lower case, cannot have two same characters in succession, and also not allow to include letters used in my user name and previous password!!! It locked up my account if I entered the wrong password 2 or 3 times. It also has another password for the digital security device that is even more difficult to reset. Very annoying! Once logged in, nevertheless, the app is okay and easy to use.
The e-deposit no longer works for me. (App can't access my list of accounts.) I wish I could rate this zero stars. Previously, when e-deposit worked, it would have been nice to have some manual controls for taking the photo. It took too many tries to get the back of the cheque in focus. Overall, the app used to be OK but the "rooted device" warnings every time the app starts is annoying, e-deposit is b0rked, and now the latest version hangs a long time on a blank, white screen.
Doesn't include as many features as other banking apps by major banks. Is not easy to use or intuitive. Many of the features that are included do not work very well, and multiple tries are required to achieve the desired result. Previously banked mobily with BMO and G&F, both have much better banking apps. Worst of all, it is nearly impossible to deposit cheques using their mobile system. Rarely works, constantly displays error messages, and forces you into the branch to deposit your money. What's the point?
Cheque deposit experience is almost always frustrating. It automatically takes the photo, even if nothing is in focus. So you try, over and over, but it keeps taking the photo prematurely. Or it will focus on the screen and look so clear, it gives you hope and then the photo comes out blurry anyway.
Semi-convenient way of looking at your finances while on the go but the cheque depositing feature is a nightmare. It takes the photo a million times while you are trying to line it up, and says "Please line it up properly". When it finally captures the image by chance, it glitches and doesn't recognize that the number on the cheque is the same one you typed in. Please work on this feature.
I like that I can finally check all my accounts, including RRSP and credit card in one place now. Dislike the fact that I need to log in multiple times to do multiple e-transfers. Also don't like the login needing me to "verify" my DOB everytime, and then still requiring the password. It just doesn't feel efficient. And how does something that can be so common knowledge such as DOB make it any more safe?
Update: Latest version of app still no better with cheque deposits. HSBC - we (because I see numerous complaints about this) don't need links to help pages, we need you to fix your app!....One star until they change the infuriating configuration on the cheque deposit that will start taking pictures while you're still getting the position correct then throw up errors. Please just change it to manually controlled!!
