When an Android phone's OS is ungraded as an incremental software update, the fingerprints stored in the Android phone will no longer work , therefore user is unable to use the fingerprints or even mobile security key to login the app. Workaround: The user has to uninstall the HSBC app and reinstall it again from Google Play in order to get the app function normally. This is obviously a bug and please fix it .
App works well I've never had an issue. Whether using mobile data or WiFi it's really fast with all features. Just wish that it would give you a notice ahead of an update to warn you, otherwise great. I use Android Version on my phone.
For day to day work, it's mostly OK, except when they randomly decide to change the authentication method and then you have to remember some password you forgot three years ago instead of just using your fingerprint. But trying to open an account using the app is a nightmare. The app supposedly allows you to open an account just by entering some basic info and by taking the picture of your ID. Except that it's impossible to take a picture of your ID. 99% of the time the app claims that the image is blurry. If by any chance it doesn't, in the next step it requires you to take a few more pictures of the ID from various angles, which is effectively impossible to achieve - either the angle is wrong, or it's blurry, or the process times out... A nightmare. As far as I am concerned their claim that it's possible to open an account using this app amounts to false advertising.
the worst banking app i have ever used. Bad flow. bugs in pulldown, worst performance caused by too many ajax calls. No prevalidation on transaction. Allow you to do a zero limit transfer and prompt you an error. It is a waste of time. Wish to see improvement in the future
Very often your apps require updating which caused great inconvenience, in particular when needed to do transfer etc. urgently. Please improve it by providing option of updating later to let your customers to login in to complete, in particular of urgency, the necessary transactions at least once before updating at our convenience before our next log in, which other banks' apps do provide such option. Thanks for your prompt attention to the above for improving your apps for updating option.
Installed on my Samsung S21 to help my wife access her HK account after their iOS app dropped support for her iPhone 6S. On the Samsung the app was unusable with Screen Zoom set large in the Settings because one dialogue had a Continue button which was off screen! This does not comply with disability discrimination laws as some people need large print. We had to set Screen Zoom small and repeat the entire login process. Then we could not do a money transfer due to unclear security prompts.
Good security. Reliable service. No problem in making transactions among countries. Fast response to requests. So far easy to use. Therefore highly recommend this device.
Terrible recent update making all my HSBC app crashing, and I'm not using an old Android. Please try not to be smart and just make a simple app that runs. Bear in mind people rely on this app to do their daily banking.
So the new update is about changing the menus position hahaha life changing stuff. I'm kidding it's changed to something super cryptic. Same for transfer limits I think hsbc believes customers should have the power to read their minds. Also now the apps logs off when switching between tabs. Chance that this will prevent any security threat: 0%, chance that this will make me fps to a wrong number because I forgot the number: 100%. Thanks a lot what a great app.
How many times does your app has to be updated? looks like everytime I open it it prompt me for update. The last update was not even a month only weeks. It's disappointing and annoying seriously 😡
Was forced to install as they no longer support physical token. Activated the app and need to wait for a long time to verify my identity for money transfer. The wait is rather long by today's standard. If they believe I might not be the acc owner, then why do they show me all my acc details before verifying my identity? Can HSBC explain why?
Very unstable app. Have lots of problem recently with the app that always close after I login. Very annoying !
User friendly and easy to operate. Very convenient! I always travel out of town. This apps help me a lot and make my life easy.
I can't receive the OTP. Checked with the mobile provider no block at all and tried to serive hot line no one can help on this. Update in march 2022: problem resolved after some weeks, now works perfectly. Thanks.
Can't use the new update. It thought my phone is rooted when it isn't. Maybe it isn't optimized for Android 12? It happened again yesterday.
Not sure how anyone can not like this app. I think it is fantastic and way ahead of several other retail bank apps. Very easy to use, very intuitive, no unnecessary frills, simply easy, logical and very easy to use. Never ever crashes for me. Well done HSBC!!
When you need to use the app the most, you can't because they won't let you until you have installed the update. And that's a real problem when your phone is running of memory, or you are in a hurry, or you have no WiFi. Don't see why you can't use an older version. Simply inconsiderate for the users.
A mobile bank app that couldn't handle one-time-infrequent-payee transaction, unless I personally go for an ATM to activate some verification procedures. My experience whenever this special bank roll out new redundant security policy, clients are to adapt the bank but not vice versa. Unlike mobile banking app from the rest of banks, log in with my passcode, plus my security code with system built-in entering column, then I can handle 90% of my banking actions. HSBC deserves a downfall.
App closed immediately after log in recently. Hope it can be fixed soon
Too too too too frequent updates, very very annoying!!!!!! Stop updating the app so frequently!
The app can be open in Pixel 6 pro after the update. Although it's frustrating as I can't use the app for half of a month, It's quite fast for them to mitigate the problem
terrible, I've been trying to install some kind of online banking on to my laptop for the best part of three months now, all i get is "HSBC" keeps stopping. Seriously guys, these are my finances, sort your act out and get this fixed, a terrible way to run a banking service.
Can't even sign up! "Now nod your head...Great, next step...sorry, trouble verifying your details" WHAT? Abandoned the process after the third failed attempt. Is it that you do NOT want people to use your services?!
The app has been improving. I have very good experience using this app with the help of customer service if I need it. Don't try to figure out problem yourself. Call them.
I am an end user from China. Without access to Google Play, I am struck with the software upgrade and unable to access mobile banking.
It is good with the latest update. Please make it in darker or blackout. The UI language is too old school and boring. The reward+, although is still not modern enough, gives an impression of younger and more playful. Last, it is slow and was faster in old apps if my memory was not wrong.
personally, in this moment, for me, a small gadget weigh much lighter than a phone..... n now within few days, a new version needed to downloaded again after I had opened my computer.....5 mins now still waiting

I've been using about 4 years now and it's getting better and better. Sometimes its very slow but as compared to other bank services, i would say way better. There are regular updates so new services are introduced very often. Only disappointing part may be not much cash back like American Express, however you still get points that can be exchanged for goodies. I got my Headphones and Cooler from the rewards. Keep the services running HSBC 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 😉 Good job.
