At first I used the new Password controlled version on my old phone. Then the app updated and I could no longer use it on my old phone. A great shame. I shall use it on my new phone as it superb and we are faced with the closure if do many banks.
Very bad application. It let me login only with password, and not with secure key. It has to be uninstalled and installed again in order to work. It works once and 2nd time starts to fail again.
Most outdated banking app I've ever used. Does not even have the option to login via fingerprint or face id. Very hard to use since the interface is none intuitive.
This app seriously needs an overhaul. Worst internet banking up I've ever used. Very clunky and unattractive. The most frustrating thing is you can't even copy account numbers etc and paste it into the fields in the app - what makes that even worse is that when you change windows to look at said number to memorise and then go back to the app, which would probably need to be done a few times, the app reloads which takes ages. It's 2019 guys. Get up to date with the rest of the big AND small banks.
App is extremely slow and clunky, even when my internet is working normally. It just takes too many steps to do anything. Don't take me wrong, I'm fine with using the token, I have no issues with that at all. It's the number of extra steps from, say, clicking the "make transfer" button to actually making the transfer that put me off. The app also frequently threw me back to the login screen for no reason at all. Imagine the frustration of having to go through all the steps to make a transfer only to be shown the username box after you click the "confirm transfer" button. Yeah, not fun. Add the clunkyness of the app to all of that, and we got a 1*. Sorry, I tried really hard to like it, but I just couldn't.
The app is fairly functional but looks and feels ancient. Sure you can check balances, transactions and transfer money. It lacks modern conveniences such as fingerprint unlock, is slow and everytime you switch to another app and back it takes a while to refresh again. Also annoying is that you can't see or change transaction limits which can only be done through the website.
I would really like to have the option for fingerprint login. I find the interface a little crowded and a bit old, it could use a facelift. But I appreciate having the currency converter in the app. I also find the digital security key system convoluted and I don't feel as though it brings any added security compared with other banking apps. The app wasn't a make or break decision for me choosing HSBC but improvements to the app would encourage more business for those who find it important.
Worst Banking app that I have ever used. Multiple passwords required to login in my own phone. Usually banking is available with a touch of finger. No option to check statement in the app. Most of the options available in the app are totally irrelevant to user. Looks like they just converted a web page into an app. Even for payments of credit card there is no option. One needs to do a NEFT transfer from other bank. No ease of use at all. Will close my credit card ASAP to get rid of this app.
One of the worst banking apps I have ever used. It makes the simplest of tasks slower and more annoying, so much so I've found it easier to go on my laptop and actually use the Web browser. The tabs are too small. I'm counting down the days until I can close my account after I get the 3 month bonus. This app is so bad it makes me want to change bankers. It doesn't use biometrics to unlock the account either which is a pain and less secure as well.
Hands down my least favorite app on my entire phone. It's horribly buggy, regularly taking half a minute to log on before failing and making me start again. Lately when I open the app the first thing it does is tell me there's a network error and I need to close the app and reload it before I can even get to the login screen. Leaving the app for just a moment to do something in another app, or allowing the screen to turn off from inactivity, often abandons whatever I was working on.
Absolutely the worst banking app I have ever used. Messy display and you can't even pay off your card, you have to use a desktop, which is absolutely mental for an app that is meant to make things easier. So all you can do is see your transactions, but again, if you want to see pending transactions you must use a desk top. Rubbish!
This is the worst of all the banking apps I use. It takes forever to load. In fact after entering my details correctly, it first ALWAYS states I can't log on. Then once the screen refreshes with same details already entered, it allows me to log in. It's so slow processing the payees options and does not even log off when I ask to. I have to close apps to log off! Pretty much useless for anyone wanting quick access to accounts. They need to roll out some updates and fast! It's painful using it!
Slow, clunky, pedantic. Doesn't show available balance unless you click another 3x down the list so you think you have more money as it doesn't account for the pending transactions which can be 3 days old. For average consumer who just wants to transfer a bit of cash from one account to another it is a long complicated process to set up and then a slow clunky in app experience to use. The last security key password is the one you actually use to access the app and there is no quick login.
Where do I start? Activation Key, Activation Code, Password, Digital secure key, confirmation code, etc. I get it, you want to be secure but you pendulum has swung too far the other way. No finger print/facial recognition for log in/verification. The app is incredibly slow, takes forever just to load a page or transfer money. Can we really call this an app? Seems more like a short cut to their website, which is poorly done as the aspect ratio often leaves part of the mage cut off
I have never encountered such a difficult app to use. Having had cause to reset my Android phone I simply couldn't get into it and ended with it sendimg me in circles. Even before that you had to remember long and convoluted security keys to get into it no such thing as touchpad entry or is simple enter your code mode. I have three other banking apps all of which are straightforward and secure this thing is difficult beyond measure and perhaps the two is generous?
Have trouble accessing my bank accounts 50% of the time. I also have to enter in the unique device password each time (when I'm able to access my accounts). Instead you're able to use your fingerprint to verify on iOS instead. The UX UI also looks like it was developed on some sort of web interface and not native in the app. Strange that iOS apps do not face the same challenges as Android and have a much better experience. It's as if the Android version is the red hair step child compared to the iOS app.
This app was always clunky, often not opening or just opening to a white screen. Now there is a new security feature where the user inputs their birthdate. When I click the birthdate bar, I think a calendar is supposed to drop down, but instead I am sent to a white screen with a place to input text but no way to submit it.
This app, and the whole online experience for HSBC, is terrible. I've only just switched to them and pretty much everything about the app, from the UI up feels stuck in about 1995. If you've used any vaguely recent banking app this will be sure to disappoint. It's so bad that I'm thinking about opening accounts with one of the neo-banks where online experience is a priority rather than an afterthought.
Worst online banking experience !!!. Mobile app is in 90s century, Poor interfaces, not user friendly. App crashed and giving errors. if you access online banking from web browser you will get the same bad experience. This is not what I expect from a reputed bank, even a local bank has better online banking features than this.
Without a doubt the worst online/mobile banking I've ever used. Closing my account and good riddance (although I just found out the only way to close an account is to physically *mail* or *fax* them a form. The internet exists now, guys). The interface is unbelievably slow and clunky, and looks like it hasn't been updated since 2007. If this is how incompetent they are with online banking I shudder to think how they manage your money.
This app seems like a high school project that barely passed. Various screens fire an error which leads to a blank white screen. The password has to be different than online banking which is something I've never experienced with another banking app. I'm not sure why there are different apps available for download and if I'm even using the correct one?! I'm in the U.S. and there is a separate U.S. version?! That one doesn't work right either and I promptly uninstalled it.
Worst banking app. Far from all the banks and newly opened bank like ING. This is so outdated. Keeps crashing. Customer service also took too long to respond. I might terminate my contract and find other bank..
Worst banking app I've ever used. It is so slow!!! So frustrating!!! The available balance should be on the front screen, I shouldn't have to go looking for it. The transaction dates are all wrong (as they are in the desktop Web banker) you need to show the actual transaction date, not just the date it comes out of the account. There is nothing easy about anything that is hsbc. It is so frustrating that I am considering changing banks just so I don't have to use the useless tools!!!
Worst banking app ever. Don't even have a option to view my transaction history, Statement or any information what i want to know. Os there any option to give 0 starts on Google ?
If I could give 0 stars I would, im from IT and well aware of how apps work and HSBC refuses to fix their buggy app. If the staff ask you to move from physical security device, don't. This app fails and throws errors whilst the bank happily sends an email and text saying digital secure key is activated. The icing on the cake is the extremely convulated IVR flows, staff with zero knowledge and not having the courtesy or humility to accept that their app and systems just don't work. Useless
